  1. Yes sir... and this too. Rough Diamonds isn't a great album but this is a gem. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t2PygWzLNIs
  2. I really like Mick Ralph's playing, especially in this kind of straightforward rock material that they never did with Rodgers. That "No Smoke Without Fire" kicks arse and so does this one. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4XPVMFxIZ0Q
  3. Love Me Somebody and Electric Land are also true gems from the Rodgers-era. But listen to those Howe-albums that I listed. They're damn good, esp. if you like Van Halen with Hagar, Whitesnake, Guns & Roses and all that good stuff from the late 80's and early 90's. If Rodgers is the best blues/rock singer, Howe must be one of the best hard rock singers ever.
  4. I've always been a fan of Bad Company. Both "incarnations" actually. I love the original BC with Paul Rodgers but Brian Howe-era is ridiculously underrated and he has (imho) one of the best hard rock voices in history. That was even more radical "split" from the original blues-BC than Van Halen did with Roth/Hagar. Holy Water, Dangerous Age and Here Comes Trouble are excellent hard AOR-rock albums and Howe's voice is superb. I admit that first album with Howe (Fame and Fortune) was cheesy. Howe also has a great solo album, Circus Bar. Highly recommended. Any other fans? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=40B5ELvN2KM

  6. Indeed. I'm a Jag man through and through (although I've never owned one). I could also live with the XKR. Damn... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bByMkAmuSxo
  7. It was tight between Presto and HYF tours but I chose HYF. Why? Because "A Show of Hands" live VHS tape made me a lifelong Rush fan. I was just a kid and an enthusiastic drummer when I first saw this... and I never thought anything, anywhere could surpass Led Zeppelin and Pink Floyd (in my book) but that ASOH video absolutely blew my mind. The setlist is perfect and the guys were still young and Geddy's voice was in great condition. And (imho) as musicians they were in their absolute prime here. If I had to choose the "most important piece of music", this one would easily top the list. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5VzxPLclEbE Pink Floyd's Delicate and Van Halen's Live: Right Here, Right Now were another live videos that I watched to DEATH. ;)
  8. Ah...that's a good one. Moonmadness is almost as awesome as Mirage. This one gives me chills. ;) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Lfl5ZT_zOho
  9. Best drums: Red Tide. That's a great, "jazzy" metal song. I love it.
  10. Nice boot from the Presto tour (Alpine Valley) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ktfV_qb3AfM I enjoyed hearing those Presto songs live.
  11. Ya think? True Blue and Like A Prayer were great albums. I used to really like Madonna a lot back around the same time period. I agree her music kind of went to crap after that. Hahaha! Yep!! We agree! Hey did you ever get Madonna's book back in the late Eighties? It was wrapped in tin foil. There were naked pictures of her in there! I still have my copy and I kept the foil wrapper! It's in mint condition I just can't find it! LOL! Yeah and I remember how much of a big fuss was made about it at the time. There was a huge waiting list of people trying to get it. Only thing I can really remember about it right now is that Isabella Rossellini was in it. I have that book. You could have it but the other foot of my hall drawer is shorter and Madonna's book is currently below it.
  12. WTF is this? http://www.autofocus.ca/news-events/rearview/this-way-short-mustang-can-be-yours-for-a-half-million This "short" version of Fastback Mustang can be yours for half a million bucks. Are they crazy? It looks stupid. http://www.drivingenthusiast.net/sec-blog/wp-content/uploads/2013/03/short-64-5-mustang-prototype.jpg http://www.autofocus.ca/media/r3q5aiv7c7zb4r/atom_featured/01_1964-Mustang-Ford-Prototype-Shorty-Custom-Auction.jpg?t=9d00dcce1bd4fcda5abfb867b8370f40
  13. Madonna is really unique "all-aroind artist". She can't sing or act. :D
  14. Communique, Making Movies, Love Over Gold. Fixed it for you. ;) PS: Love Over Gold = Dire Straits in their prime. Telegraph Road is a pure prog song and the pinnacle of their career. ;)
  15. Perry is a great, great singer. He must be on top of these lists regardless if you like Journey or not. Perry has def. sung some hard rock songs too... Winds of March for example. I'm not a huge Journey fan (I like some of their stuff though) and I kinda dislike Raised on Radio... and Perry sang with lower tone in that album... nevertheless this vocal performance is nothing short of amazing. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AIvLX615xUU
  16. Close to the Edge is probably the best prog rock ALBUM, but the title song isn't quite as good as Lady Fantasy, imho. And of course Supper's Ready and even 2112 rival this but I wanted to leave the "corporate pigs" out of this. :D
  17. Dunno if these are all hard rock but these are my favorites: 1. Brian Howe (Bad Company) 2. Steve Perry (Journey) 3. Roger Daltrey (The Who) 4. Sammy Hagar (Van Halen) 5. Brad Delp (Boston) 6. Ronnie James Dio 7. Geddy Lee (young version) 8. Paul Rodgers (Bad Company) 9. Ian Gillan 10.Robert Plant (Led Zep) Howe is ridiculously underrated and still sounds good. Same can't be said about hmm... a lot of older guys. ;) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rgOzsqeCADU
  18. If we forget the "corporate" prog rock Rush, Floyd and Genesis and just concentrate on the "traditional prog" there are lots of great bands and unbelievable songs. Mike Oldfield has some prog masterpieces, like Ommadawn, King Crimson¨s Red is almost perfect album... and Starless is one of the best prog songs ever. Yes' Close to the Edge and live version of Starship Trooper (Keys to Ascension) are close to the title. And what about Alan Parsons' Tales of Mystery and Imagination... great stuff. But in the end of the day there must be only one song that raises above everything... Camel's Lady Fantasy. This song is closest to PERFECT progressive rock song ever made. It's just SO amazing. It's powerful, has heavenly guitar, incredible melody, almost "ghostly" atmosphere and very "touching" finish. Of course this is my subjective opinion only. But I've went through almost all meaningful prog bands and I have never heard anything better. This song is soo good, it brings a tear to my eye. Discuss. :) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RhWDbdS-vjg
  19. What a beautiful, "John Lennonish" song this is. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_tQZxlc5uAA
  20. Led Zeppelin: III - IV - Houses of the Holy Camel: Mirage- The Snow Goose - Moonmadness Yello: Stella - OneSecond - Flag
  21. I acknowledge that they're "influential" and they have their own, personal sound. I've tried to listen to them but they bore me to death. Sting's solo career even more so. Not my music.
