  1. LOL. Peart is the easiest one to replace? Now that's funny. Sheesh. NONE of them are replaceable. The tightest power trio ever to take a stage does not have one single member who can sub out. Ridiculous shit here sometimes.
  2. I was saying this months ago when the tour was first starting and the speculation was at a high. People just don't get it. Neil has been particularly savaged. I do hope they keep going. But...only to my own selfish desires. If Neil says he's done. He's done. And that's ok. Don't make it what it isn't. I think you are exaggerating the "Neil has been particularly savaged" part. Do you understand why he is resented? If it wasn't for him, they'd probably be out touring right now. It's Neil who is the real reason for the seemingly end of Rush. It's understandable, rightly or wrongly, that fans would resent him for putting an end to their dream. It's understandable that SELFISH fans resent Neil for retiring after 40 years of outstanding work. Those selfish fans are completely in the wrong. When any one of us retires after 40 years, not one criticism is made. Rock stars don't receive such respect. They're expected to perform forever. Shame on us fans for being so selfish. Hard to refute any of this. Fans are inherently selfish on the whole. When they extend blame to Neil, what they're really saying is ME ME ME I want MORE MORE don't care what THEY want, I only want what I want. People are lame, by and large. :)
  3. I was on board with the frank, harsh reality check until that point. A real man drinks his Macallan neat maybe with a cube of ice, pussy. If you think that was a harsh reality check, you oughta get out more. :) I actually can't stand Macallan. It was a figure of speech. I doubt you could handle the tequila that I drink, kid. :)
  4. 1. There is a very good reason for why the band should stop playing their "own damn music". The reason is this: It's what THEY want. That is all the reason they need. 2. No one is being "deprived" of anything. If we want to hear the great music of Rush, then all we have to do is play any of their many great albums. clearly they don't ALL want to. And Geddy has clearly said that there is no bad guy regarding the end of the band. It doesn't matter if Geddy wants to play forever. He totally respects Alex's or Neil's right to call it quits. don't get me wrong, i'm not on the neil is the bad guy side of things. i totally respect neil wanting to retire and i'm not slamming him for it. i just don't understand why people think that geddy and alex shouldn't continue to play rush music live without neil. Alex is done too. He won't say it outright because they're allowing for longshot possibilities. But he's perfectly happy being a grandpa. Geddy will probably cut some new music in the studio with some other cats. Hopefully he'll tour it.
  5. There's no 'side' to be taken, man. It is what it is. There's no need for the fan base to wish and shit in both hands. Retirement is okay. Like someone said, it's better than crashing and burning. Nothing is absolute. But people get old. Careers wind down and end. That's life.
  6. LOL. There's no pleasing some people. They won't be happy until one of the boys drops dead, literally forcing them to let go. Nobody likes to let go of familiar things. Change is the very heart of our existence. Things come, they go. Things evolve, stagnate, or perish. It's puzzling why some folks can't appreciate what they've experienced enough to move on, and understand their good fortune for what it was, instead of asking...demanding...expecting more. Living on a lighted stage takes a toll. Far, far more than the average joe. I just don't understand you guys who look for blame, or justification. Why not revel in the fact that Rush jammed for 40 years and played hundreds of shows? And that they pretty much stood together the whole time. There are far worse bands to cherish, ones who have no concept of fan appreciation nor original member honor. Ask fans of Van Halen. Or the Police. Or Guns n' Roses. Or, heck, virtually every other band on the planet. :) Rush is done. And it's okay. Life goes on. For them. For you. It was a GREAT run. Legendary. Unmatched. Nothing to mourn. Only memories to herald and a legacy of music that will NEVER be replicated.
  7. You are a whiny bitch of a fan. Seriously. You clearly have no empathy whatsoever. Sociopathic, really. Do you have any idea what kind of fortitude it would take to comeback from what Neil lived through? STFU already. You've had more Rush than you deserve.
  8. Good gawd. Still there are disbelievers and whiners and accusers? After all this time? Let it go, kids. Things change. Rock stars get old. It happens. Be grateful your particular taste didn't go out Hendrix or Joplin or Morrison or Bon Scott style. Geez. Neil is NOT screwing Geddy and Alex over, that is def NOT how Ged and Alex feel. For f**k's sake. Ged and Alex are NOT going to form a Rush tribute band and tour without Neil, neither under a new name nor the Rush brand. LOL. Geddy is not going to tour with the Who. Or what constitutes Yes these days. They are not taking a break, they are not going to reassess when Neil's girl comes of age. Neil is done. It's over. Be happy the world got what it did. By all rights, there shouldn't have been anymore Rush after 1999. There are NOT going to be anymore Rush albums or EPs. There are NOT going to be anymore Rush tours. There MIGHT be another Geddy solo album down the pipe. If you saw the R40 tour, you saw the last Rush tour. Those of us who know, know. Those of you who don't yet, or are wasting your time in denial or scuttlebutt or blame or scapegoating Neil or undermining the severity of arthritis or tendonitis....get a goddamned clue. Meanwhile, Imma sip a lemonade lightly splashed with Macallan, crank the Bose up to 11, and give Counterparts a big fat spin. :)
  9. Yep. And still there are Rush fans begging and whining about more, more, more. Self absorption is an ugly thing. They have no idea how fortunate we've been. Quite the exaggeration there. Nobody is "begging and whining". You are one of the fortunate people who's getting to see the R40 tour. Most outside the U.S.A. haven't and won't. They're disappointed about that and understandably so. But everybody is aware that the guys are in their 60s with grandkids and simply have to stop sometime. Nobody's SO upset about it that they're going to stalk and harass Neil Peart until he changes his mind. They're losing something that's been very impactful on their lives and are sad about it. You're probably right that Saturday is it for live shows, but no need to rub people's noses in it. I don't understand why you're reading a forum with "fanboys" when "fanboy" chat irritates you so much. Seems you're just torturing yourself and everyone here as well. I'm not tortured at all. I'm happy for Neil that he's finally going to get to wind down. He deserves it. Nobody's losing anything. But yes, perhaps you're right. I'd forgotten how message boards tend to roll. Thanks for the reminders. :) Adieu, fair ladies and good gentlemen.
  10. Yep. And still there are Rush fans begging and whining about more, more, more. Self absorption is an ugly thing. They have no idea how fortunate we've been. Dude, just go away, your BS isn't doing anything productive for anyone..... Productivity. Hmm.

  12. Ok, so what is it that you do for the band? Are you on their staff? Drive a bus? Just curious of your creds....... Personally....the last few tours to me felt like that was it, and we'll be lucky if they come back out/release another album, etc....I've taken them one at a time, and was glad they came out again.. I may know a guy who knows a guy. But screw my cred. Those who haven't bothered to read the evidence at hand will find out soon enough. After Saturday, it's not gonna matter much. So basically you're just here to stir up shit...go away! Nah, I was here to talk actual Rush. Not fanboy Rush. Your sig is messin' up the pages, btw. Maybe resize your pic.
  13. I guess you enjoy coming in and being the voice of distension? Putting a smiley at the end doesn't change the intention. It's not as bad as coming in and pissing on other people's signed items, though. :) :) :) Well I guess if you can't make up a decent answer, you have to make stuff up. :) :) :) Oh it's not made up. I could go back and quote your lame critiques of people's items - on at least three occasions, including mine - but I really don't feel like putting in the effort. Probably didn't really intend to do it, right? :) :) :) Why are you trying to pick a fight? I know I didn't do anything of the sort, so you are barking up the wrong tree with me. I have no interest in online flaming. But you definitely did do something of the sort. It got kind of annoying. So I stopped following your posts in the autograph thread. You didn't have to sling mud at me first for the record. You could've just put me on ignore. But you chose to slag. So I responded with my own slag on your own forum etiquette since you felt the need to challenge mine.
  14. I think we will be seeing a Geddy solo tour, actually. Perhaps not next year. But the year after that. Heck, I'd love to see a live version of Working at Perfekt. In a smoky Sunset Strip club, preferably.
  15. You hit the nail on the head. It's not just the shows, it's the time and effort to get into shape to play the shows. That has got to be much harder now at their ages. If Alex and Neil don't touch their instruments for 6-12 months after Saturday, it's hard to imagine them going through the grind again someday just for a handful of gigs. The motivation likely wouldn't outweigh the pain. They don't need more money, Alex has said he has no intention of embarrassing himself, and Neil has never cared for playing live anyway. I'd prefer they record one more album over doing more live shows, but that also requires a lot of rehearsing and albums unfortunately don't make enough profit these days. So that seems unlikely too. It sucks, but all good things eventually come to an end. And this IS looking like the end. We still have the R40 video to look forward to though and hopefully there are other nuggets still in the vault. A thoughtful and incisive post. And pretty much spot on.
  16. As usual he is talking out his arse. I'm curious though to see if he's got this one right. Overall he's being a real killjoy here on the forum :( i can imagine how you would feel that he is, but i don't find him a killjoy. If his posts disturb you and what you are thinking will happen with Rush in the future, you can always put him on ignore. It works...like magic. He won't be able to see this since I'm on his ignore list, but...remember, goose here steals seats from paying patrons at Rush concerts.

  20. Alex is his own animal. A class unto himself. :) But the all time 5 greats are what they are.
  21. They will never label an official farewell gig. The last Rush show is this Saturday. It's gonna be a blowout. :)
  22. Plenty of LAX bars for sure. They are, ahem....seedy to say the least. ;) There's a Roscoe's Chicken and Waffles not too far from the Forum. :)
  23. I've been trying to politely say it. There really isn't a great place within walking distance of the Forum. There never has been. Unless someone has an RV in the parking lot. :) There are, conversely, a large number of less than appetizing soul food joints nearby. There are no bars worth a damn near the Forum. Believe me. I'm a frequent Forum attendee. :) Plenty of GREAT spots within 5-10 miles of the Forum, however. :) But the best bet is still the VIP mezzanine bars. :) Bad part about this is the limited time frame right? We can only congregate an hour before the show right? Well, usually the Forum hosts sponsors outside the venue before doors open. Several tables all around the venue often host informal beer / cocktail concessionaires for waiting patrons. But I'm not certain about the particulars show to show. Last few shows I've hit, there were hundreds of fans milling around before doors having beer and wine and expensive well drinks. There's no guarantee that'll be the case on Saturday, but it might be an option. The mezzanine bars, yeah, they'll only be an option for an hour or two before the show. I'm actually not quite sure when doors are scheduled to open. 730 show, I'd usually think the Forum would open doors at 5 pm. Someone said 630?
  24. Usually they are. It varies show to show, artist to artist. But small point n shoot digital cameras are usually okay.
