While they aren't perfect.....some of the discs really stand out and sound better (ESL, HYF, and Power Windows most notable to me)...

QUOTE (Pound of Obscure @ Jun 24 2012, 07:02 PM) QUOTE (Shredder2 @ Jun 24 2012, 03:24 PM) QUOTE (Pound of Obscure @ Jun 24 2012, 01:45 PM) QUOTE (Shredder2 @ Jun 24 2012, 01:37 PM) As I respect you for stating your honest opinion, I highly disagree with you. But hey, every band has one album that doesn't "kick ass", and is yet, critically acclaimed. Justin Beiber is critically acclaimed. What does critically acclaimed even mean? Some music critic said he liked it? Critically acclaimed means that it gets praised by music critics. And Beiber doesn't "kick ass" in my book. So who qualifies these music critics? I'd say 40 years of listening to music and 35 years as a musician qualifies me as much as anyone. So my musings here on TRF should be taken much more seriously by you fine people. Or the flip side. Critical acclaim is meaningless. sounds like a pretty meaningless marketing term to me.....
  3. QUOTE (Gedneil Alpeart @ Jun 24 2012, 06:33 PM) QUOTE (Slack jaw gaze @ Jun 24 2012, 06:57 PM) Based on the way they write, every song has the lyrics shoehorned in. For the most part, they are pretty good shoehorners. Byut it's not so obvious in CA... agree with that.....S&A was much worse...

  5. QUOTE (Pound of Obscure @ Jun 24 2012, 12:42 PM) I don't like the chorus. Well, the end of the chorus. It starts out pretty good. Then Ged starts into the two or three lines of incoherent wallowing. "LalalalalalalalalalalalalalalCaCAnaaaashuuuu-uuuuun. That's the main problem I have with it also. The verses aren't necessarily bad, but just very bland sounding. I can't see this song going over very well live.
  6. Not a fan of this one. To me, it sounds like it could come straight from TFE....
  7. CA is my fav song and I doubt that will change....
  8. Love April Wine.....thanks Earl, will look into this box set..
  9. I'm not going to argue, or defend him....I just think people need to lighten up a little. That's it....
  10. QUOTE (LeaveMyThingAlone @ Jun 23 2012, 10:54 AM) So we all went through that honeymoon period with CA as we do with every album, the question is how does hold up as weeks or months pass...? From what I can tell, most of us are maintaining our position that it is one of in not the best post Moving Pictures album they've done? My initial impressions were that it was brilliant from second 1 to the last second. I have since softened on the last half of the album a bit, but the number of skip songs are still few and far between as compared to the last 3 albums. Songs 1-4 and Headlong Flight are sheer brilliance It hasn't even been 2 weeks yet.
  11. QUOTE (Gedneil Alpeart @ Jun 23 2012, 07:54 PM) QUOTE (RushIslander @ Jun 23 2012, 08:39 PM) Suck a rotten potato. Trolls.....they're everywhere..... not really......he's been here 5 years. He just doesn't like the album. Imagine that.
  12. I personally don't get all the gushiness over it.....to me, it's an ok album. I think I like VT slightly more.....but it's far better than S&A...
  13. QUOTE (KenJennings @ Jun 22 2012, 10:05 AM) Kinda funny, the moment I heard this song, I though "Man, I wish they had made this an instrumental." The vocals don't fit. It's a great track, but the vocals are clumsy and lacking. That's what I thought when I first heard it.....the music is ok, but the vocal melodies? He didn't spend much time on them for sure.....
