  1. To the spectators, sorry for the drama, but this was payback time from me to him. He mildly harassed me a few weeks ago when I never bothered him prior, so tit for tat. By the way, FYI, I dont go after people who dont like the album. There are quite a few folks here who I have respectfully disagreed with on CA, and that was that. At times I go after trolls ( who are different than people who express negative opinions reasonably and respectfully and arent obsessed with disrespectfully putting down a Rush record just because it's modern over and over and whining at every thread ). If that is trolling the trolls, fine with me, but Im certainly no troll otherwise. They got it coming to em..... plus it's fun. Carry on now. Show's over. Oh, and he defends trolls ( defended Gemini Rising in the "wont buy CD" thread ) and acts as TRF hall monitor who loves to pick arguments and declare debates when they dont exist and is obsessed about winning vs losing.

Now I understand why you and Gemini get in so many fights. He doesn't like the album, and trolls people who do. You do like the album, and you troll people who don't. Polar opposites, but both trolls. And the worst part is, you are with the majority opinion so the community here at least tolerates you. Now I will end with a quote that I think best sums up this whole exchange: "Arguing with a troll is like playing chess with a pigeon. No matter how good I am at chess, the pigeon is just going to knock over the pieces, crap all over the board, and strut around as if it thinks it's victorious." -Mara (I think) Here's your trophy: http://amashni.files.wordpress.com/2012/01/trophy.jpg How eloquent. I"m so moved.

When and if a next album comes out I imagine the posts then will be identical to this thread by the same people but CA will be the next S&A with the "new" new album getting undue praise. We're not praising CA because it's new. It's because the music is excellent. See the top ten poll and Goober's 1-10 poll. Honeymoon effect is minimal. Give it time. It will rate 7/10 in the long haul, IMO. Already is a 6 or 7. Rush has 3 10's in their catalogue. 10's are perfect albums and thus a hard level to reach. Very good albums are not 10's. Or even 9's for that matter. Its their best in quite a while. After the abomination of Snakes, it seems spectacular. But its about a 7. With a good point removed for inexcusable sound quality. I'll give it a 7.5. A pretty strong record that I like with heavy penalties for sound quality. 6 overall rating. CA>>>>>>>>Snakes. Snakes<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<any other Rush/Rascal Flats album http://www.therushforum.com/index.php?showtopic=75734&st=240 Close to 78% (231 pollers) rate this album at least 8/10. That's a damn great figure for an album, even if it's new. I predict that number will hold fairly steady in the long run. CA is here to stay strong over the long haul. Yeah, but we're a bunch of Rush freaks in here. You would expect those kind of numbers. That's like going to Moveon.org and asking them who they support in the next election. Don't forget though, some will be stubborn because they are raving now, but in the future, even though it will make them feel "meh", they will never admit it. Their pride won't allow them. Doesn't matter, it's a great Rush album and most people are enjoying it. What matters most is I'm enjoying it and enjoying it a lot. Good to know that I'm in the majority.

Some honeymoon effect and Rush bias, yes, but I think those 2 factors minimally account for the high numbers. People are truly ranking CA high outside of those 2 factors I believe.

  9. QUOTE (An Enemy Without @ Jul 18 2012, 04:29 PM) QUOTE (They Bow Defeated @ Jul 18 2012, 01:44 PM) >>did CA suffer due to break in writing/recording? No, just the opposite. The newer tracks are by far my favorites, and I don't think it's just the honeymoon effect. I think these newer tracks do a better job of blending the new Rush sound with classic Rush from different eras: Clockwork Angels: 2112 meets VT The Anarchist: GUP/Signals meets VT Halo Effect: FBN meets CP Seven Cities Of Gold: Debut meets TFE The Wreckers: Presto meets CP Headlong Flight: COS/FBN meets CP The Garden: Presto meets CP Based on Caravan and BU2B, I was a little worried that CA would be a mostly heavy "new Rush" album. So I'm really glad the newer tracks are more diverse, and harken back to some of my favorite Rush eras. I do not hear even a whisper of COS in HF. I think a lot of that is just grasping at straws honestly. CA didn't remind me of any albums before 1990. Geddy and Alex themselves admitted to a nod to Bastile Day at the beginning of HF.
  10. QUOTE (canadianice @ Jul 18 2012, 04:30 PM) QUOTE (Gedneil Alpeart @ Jul 18 2012, 04:25 PM) QUOTE (substancewithoutstyle @ Jul 18 2012, 01:27 PM) No way CA is a top ten album. With the exception of the debut album and FBN, it doesn't come close to anything prior to, and including, Presto. It may be better than Counterparts, but that's not saying much because I don't regard that album very highly. It's a very good album, the best in a long time, but not top ten. Trenken, is that you? Can't be, there are too many positive things in there, Sourpuss does not know how to do that

  12. QUOTE (CygnusX-1Bk2 @ Jul 17 2012, 07:26 PM) If CA didn't sound like garbage perhaps I would feel differently but the music has been destroyed. It makes my stereo sound broken. It may be worse than VT. Seriously. As for the material it sounds like they are old where S&A sounds fresh. There is so much rehash on CA and none on S&A. Rush are not AC-DC who put out the same album for 20 years. There is NO innovation on CA it is mostly looking back. The "story" is disjointed and vague. I know what Faithless means. I know what Armour and Sword means. I don't know who the protagonist is in CA. I know who the antagonist is supposed to be but it's not exactly clear. The whole thing is murky, muddy and unclear. There are some nice points on CA but there is no cohesion and much of it is abstract, and not in a good way. As much as I would like it to be. Funny how opinions differ so much for the same thing. Most here don't agree with you, but that's ok. Better luck next time....hopefully there will be a next time!
