  1. Folks, I've listened to it so much I've almost worn it out. But I still might buy it. I love the jam session section. Very cool.
  2. HF is a really cool tune but let's not get crazy.
  3. This song kicks ass and is already better than Caravan and BU2B IMO. I'm excited about what the other tunes sound like. I don't care about lyrics anymore so I've got NO complaints.
  4. QUOTE (vital signz @ Apr 16 2012, 08:24 PM) These words could be the lyrics. Neil has borrowed heavily from other authors, especially early in his career. Maybe he used the poem as a guide to the song. We will see. Not the lyrics. I took the poem and twisted it myself a while back. It's ripped from a poem by John L. Stoddard called Mysteries or Mysterious. The theme works though. Headlong Flight Bound to the earth in a headlong flight, Toward a city I do not know, Winding through the void of night With stars above and fire below Beneath my feet a rumbling shell, Deeper still a molten hell, The souls within its blighting breath, Are charred into a shriveled death. I stoke the fires of the big steel wheels Navigate through celestial fields What is the fate to which I fly? What does it mean to live and die? A perilous path on which I tread The Watchmaker casts unnumbered dead Into the stream that sweeps them on A mystery still where they have gone I stoke the fires of the big steel wheels Navigate through celestial fields What is the fate to which I fly? What does it mean to live and die? Some days were dark, some nights were bright I wish that I could live it all again
  5. QUOTE (Gedneil Alpeart @ Apr 16 2012, 04:52 PM) I like it. So shoot me. Shoot you ? I'm jealous.
  6. QUOTE (Echoes @ Apr 14 2012, 07:31 PM) I'm in love with Caravan. Every time I hear it, I go nuts. I feel it's their best song since Subdivisions. http://cdn.c.photoshelter.com/img-get/I0000UFyojnk6ILc/s/750/750/samaipata-bolivia-market-Jan042012-6481.jpg Check it out. A blind man leaving a market where he just bought what he was sold. Glad you dig the song man. You're in love.
  7. QUOTE (metaldad @ Apr 16 2012, 02:45 PM) QUOTE (losingit2k @ Apr 16 2012, 02:33 PM) I've always maintained that Caravan and Far Cry are Neo-classic Rush! Funny, i have always maintained that Caravan was good and Far Cry was crap Far Cry could have been so much better. The jingly acoustic guitar rhythm had no place in that song. It sounds goofy. I had issues with Spindrift too. So much potential with underwhelming results. That's totally on Nick unless he spoke up and was over-ruled.
  8. I think its a good song. I like it, don't love it. Nowadays, I prefer listening to the jamming rather than getting anything else out of their music (Thanks Neil). Composition-wise, Caravan is a mess in my opinion. It sounds forced. The comparison to Freewill earlier in the thread was way off-base. Freewill is tight even with all the changes. The jam session in the song is fluid and sounds like it belonged. That said..Caravan gives me hope that they get it right somewhere else on CA. BU2B is good too, it just didn't wow me. Neil's drum intro to One Little Victory and Geddy's (higher pitched) vocals had me thrilled and got my attention. The Headlong Flight teaser has me hopeful for the rest of Clockwork Angels.
  9. Those lyrics are awful. No way are they real. Even at Peart's worst, he stays sober when he writes. Has anyone even tried singing them in some fashion ?

Looks awesome! As for the Red album cover. I am pumped because it will make for some great Rush Tees. My older red/with logos was my favorite and it's worn out, couldn't find replacement. Sounds great, but it's such a tease and want MORE! Songtrack titles are very enticing and the concept is reminiscent of Steampunk mixed with the fantasy novel (series), "Name of the Wind". I like this image better for the cover myself. (It's now my computer wallpaper as well). We have a third for the computer wallpaper thing. Love it! The album is long overdue IMO. Yep, I love this image (A Clockwork Ocean?), and immediately made it my wallpaper as well. If it were the proper size and aspect ratio for my monitor, I'd use it, too. But it's nowhere near good enough for a 1920x1200 display. Just take the background from Rush.com. 1. Use Firefox or Safari browser 2. Go to Rush.com 3. Select View from the top menu of your browser 4. Choose "No Style" option from Page Style 5. Scroll down to the image 6. Save the background image. 7. Set as Desktop.

Not too important. I actually still like it...BUT...like I mentioned when it first appeared, I would've liked to see it without any names or writing on it. Just the red clouds with the clock. Either way...I'm good with it. Plus, we all just want one thing...for the album to ROCK! i think everyone just needs to make their peace with the cover and look forward to a CD booklet full of beautiful artwork I have. http://a5.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-ash3/561804_2982277396274_1242135200_32074282_275602289_n.jpg Congratulations. You did everything right except you left .com on the Rush name. I suck at photoshop. I got the images but I can't do sh*t with them.

  14. QUOTE (circumstantial tree @ Apr 11 2012, 09:19 AM) Oh, and I'm glad that is the album cover. I like it and I like Geddy's bass. Sounds like his Rickenbacker to me. C'mon now, that sounds like his Wal bass more than anything (See Turn The Page). He's most likely rigged his Fender to sound like whatever he wants. If he brought out his Ric for any of the recording, I'll be thrilled. That's my favorite Geddy bass.

  16. QUOTE (trenken @ Apr 10 2012, 01:59 PM) Yay more useless news from RIAB. So we already knew they were planning a fall tour. Pretty sure most of us knew they wouldn't be playing outdoor shows in the fall/winter. >_> And yeah those are public interviews that they did about the orchestra. I cant stand that site. They rarely post anything that isnt a rumor or common knowledge already. Wow, I couldn't disagree more. He's the best source of Rush information (including the band) around. He was the first to share information about CA artwork and about the listening party for radio execs. Useless news ? For anyone who values their time, its an awesome site.
  17. I'm happy with the Indoor shows. Better climate control and the stage show and lighting looks a lot better. As for the Orchestra, I don't think they are necessary. There's only two songs I can think of that an Orchestra could compliment: Marathon and Losing It. That's it. Other than that, its a waste. Unless there are songs on CA that would sound good.
  18. My apologies. Those are not the lyrics and that is not official cover art. It was just something I put together that was inspired by the rumors and known content of the upcoming Rush CD. Here's how it came together: I did a search on "headlong flight" and came up with a poem by John L. Stoddard called "Mysteries". http://poetry.poetryx.com/poems/13177/ The poem actually ties in nicely to the Clockwork Angels theme. I bastardized the lyrics and put them on the cover of an image I found here: http://virtualneko.com/sl-steampunk-nemo-shepherd-tesla/ It will be interesting to see what the REAL song is about. One more day !

Took me a minute to remember where I had seen it but it hit a nerve right away. Nice catch. I was wondering why the last two lines felt out of place after one readthrough. Then I read the real one, thought Neil plagerized and realized Neil's lines felt weak Then... Bad anchorman Who me ? I'm just a fan with WAY too much hands on his time. Wishing April 11 was yesterday. How bad is it ? I'll be writing my own damn song pretty soon if they don't release theirs. Of course I won't post it here. I'll just make everybody wait and wait some more.... let me have first listen and i'll guarantee you a great review. blazing guitar licks, mind blowing drum fills, super smooth bass lines and sounds like a combination of 2112, hemispheres, with just a touch of g/p and mp. Done ! I'm including a bonus track.

  21. I found it on the interweb. It's been a few days but it was a google search on steampunk clocks. There were some others that were fantastic. I hope everyone realizes this is all in good fun. IF I ever had the real deal, I'd say so and post it here with proper credits.
  22. Stoddard, you friggin thief ! Snaked again.
