  1. QUOTE (Snaked @ May 10 2012, 09:26 AM) Nothings coming today. What they're recording will be played in the days before the release of CA what he said...
  2. QUOTE (Alchemical @ May 10 2012, 09:23 AM) QUOTE (Gilbertk @ May 10 2012, 09:21 AM) QUOTE (The Mighty Dudad @ May 10 2012, 09:14 AM) No more CA music...but a reference to a "future album special" that it sounded like he and Geddy will be recording later today. Maybe they will premiere the full album and play interviews in between..? Keep dreaming. They've done album release radio shows a number of times in the past, so this is definitely possible (if not likely). Since Geddy is in the UK, they can record the interviews today and air the special just before the CD is released.

  4. Liked the comment from the DJ (if that's still what we call them these days) from early in the interview: "Everyone, or at least many people, are looking forward to this album...I've heard it and they SHOULD BE looking forward to it!" ...or something to that effect.

  6. Rush is going to tour In Uk/Europe Spring 2013!!!!
  7. Quick Hits so far (please correct anything I got wrong)... - Award in Canada last week was nice...lots of food and booze - Liked the children's choir rendition of The Spirit of Radio - Seemed ambivalent about RRHOF (even though it wasn't mentioned by name)...artists appreciate the recognition, but... - Thinks the young Japanese girl that plays YYZ solo on a piano/synth is amazing - CA is definitely a concept album built around a central story, but the 12 (yes 12, not 14) songs are specifically designed to stand alone...no recurring musical themes/passages a la 2112 or Hemispheres. - Basic story is a young boy/man with a naive "the world is a good place" view of the world who ventures out into that world. Reality is different and how his naive world view evolves in the face of that reality is a central concept. - Prog is a confusing epithet..to them it basically means "that we overreach". - Complex music akin to the complex machinery of a steampunk world. I'm sure I missed a bunch and got much of the above wrong...
  8. ...at least they're playing the radio edit...will get to Geddy quicker that way...
  9. Headlong Flight now playing!! And yes, I realize that all these little update posts are to people most likely also listening to Planet Rock...
  10. "Geddy Lee has arrived"!!!! Getting close now.
  11. "Got U2 up after Led Zeppelin"...sounds like at LEAST two more songs before Geddy, if not more.
  12. Ugghh...did the DJ just say "in a little while"??
  13. To be fair, the Planet Rock web site does say that Geddy "...will be talking to Darren at some point after 2pm, so be sure to tune in for this rare UK interview." "some point after 2" could be in the next minute or in the next 2 hours. I'm listening live now, but can't for too much longer so I hope he's on sooner rather than later.
  14. QUOTE (GeddyRulz @ May 9 2012, 11:26 AM) QUOTE (The Mighty Dudad @ May 9 2012, 11:20 AM) It took several months and seeing them in the Glens Falls Civic Center on the MP tour to finally get it...and I never looked back. My first Rush concert, and first concert EVER, was also in Glens Falls Civic Center... but not until P/G. Hey - I was at that concert too! Had nice seats right next to the Zamboni entrance, side closer to the stage. That was a great show. Crappy sound at the old GFCC, but a nice small venue that brought in some big name acts before Albany got their arena.
  15. QUOTE (Presto-digitation @ May 9 2012, 03:44 PM) So...what are the two Pedlar cuts? Full songs? Notice 14 tracks. hmmm...I'm thinking that they may be the "the short orchestral intros to some songs" that he refers to in the article...although "some" implies more than two... Maybe the fourth review will reveal more!!
  16. QUOTE (gornhay @ May 9 2012, 03:29 PM) http://planetmosh.com/rush-clockwork-angel...st-impressions/ I was posting this in a new topic at the smae time you were posting this here.
  17. Saw this posted in a comment over on RIAB. Not a song-by-song breakdown, but a full review nonetheless. Here Interesting bit: "The whole album has crystal clear sound and is superbly produced with everything clearly audible. With many bands the bass is mixed down low and is used to just fill out the sound, whereas here the bass is far more prominent and you get to hear the complex bass melodies and they form an important part of the sound. The vocals are great too, and the rich orchestral introductions are excellently done." TMD
  18. Sometime around 75 or 76, I was 10 or 11 and living in Montreal at the time. I have vague memories of seeing this band with hair, and funky clothes, and yikes what's that voice on TV (may have been the Juno awards??). It made no real impression on me whatsoever other than "hair, clothes, voice". Fast forward to Moving Pictures. Hanging out in my friend's bedroom and he tells me that I have to listen to this band, especially the drummer. I played along, but still wasn't immediately taken with it (I know, what was wrong with me, right?). It took several months and seeing them in the Glens Falls Civic Center on the MP tour to finally get it...and I never looked back.
  19. QUOTE (Alchemical @ May 7 2012, 08:54 AM) QUOTE (The Mighty Dudad @ May 7 2012, 08:48 AM) 2. Unless I missread, I didn't see any instrumentals. Didn't every song review include some mention of Geddy's vocals? Not a bad thing, IMO...sounds like there are plenty of instrumental fireworks going on within the structure of the songs. Geddy's vocals were mentioned on every track minus Carnies and Wish Them Well Since the guy is more or less salivating at Lerxst, I could see Carnies being an Alex-heavy instrumental. Thanks for the clarification/correction
  20. Oh my...lots of interesting nuggets to chew on for the next 5 weeks. Just a couple quick observations: 1. I'm happy to hear about the change to the beginning of BU2B. As released in 2010, the transition between Caravan and BU2B is pretty harsh to my ears. Softening it with an acoustic interlude before the heavy chord kicks in sounds like a good thing to me. 2. Unless I missread, I didn't see any instrumentals. Didn't every song review include some mention of Geddy's vocals? Not a bad thing, IMO...sounds like there are plenty of instrumental fireworks going on within the structure of the songs.
  21. Just curious if anyone has heard HF on any Chicago radio station. Neither of the two stations that you would reasonably expect it to be on (WLUP and WXRQ) appear to be playing it at all. WLUP is even pushing (and giving away) Rush tickets for the 9/15 show and still only plays the "usual suspects". I know, I know...at the end of the day it doesn't really matter... TMD
  22. Lived in Boston, caught the CP tour in LA. To be fair, I was traveling there on business and went at the last minute. TMD
  23. Bravado (RTB Tour) - the song was just "ok" for me on the CD, but seeing it live with the extended, rocking ending totally changed it for me.
  24. QUOTE (furie @ Apr 24 2012, 12:55 PM) is the single version different from the album version? iTunes has the full 7:21 album version, not the radio edit. BTW, it's also #101 on the iTunes Singles Chart as of 1:15 PM Central today.
