  1. QUOTE (madra sneachta @ Nov 5 2004, 10:04 PM) All those years of exposure to Countdown are paying off Problem is I only used to look at Carol Vorderman. I'll put a new anagram up soon
  2. QUOTE (madra sneachta @ Nov 5 2004, 01:24 PM) Just stumbled on this one - sounds a bit like Kind Hearts and Coronets Look, I'm NOT By-Tor so you don't need to be MY nemesis. Of course its
  3. Now, how to give you a clue you'll love to get without giving it away which, probably, is what you're counting on. For the moment, I'll just say that it wasn't played on the R30 tour. Have a few more guesses and, if you haven't got it, I'll give you another.
  4. The only one I can think of at the moment is Faster Pussycat who get their name from the Russ Meyer film Faster Pussycat, Kill, Kill
  5. QUOTE (Rolinda Bonz @ Nov 2 2004, 11:30 PM) From 2112 My spirits are low in the depths of despair ?????
  6. OK, see how you do with this one (I spent half the day at work working on it) DRAWN, I MADE ROY ROAR
  7. In that case I'll go with the only other non-British animated series I've watched in the last 20 years Futurama
  8. The Simpsons? Sounds like something Lisa would say
  9. Why was the character of Spearchucker quickly dropped from the TV version of M*A*S*H?
  10. Even though Lost won't be shown in the UK until next year, my wife has been downloading the episodes as they come available (I think we're keeping pace with you colonials) and I love the bugger. It definitely stands there, in my mind, alongside Buffy, Dead Like Me and Angel as one of the best US series of the past few years. Plus I think I'm in love with Evengelline Lilly who plays Kate
  11. I don't know - does anyone else want one?
  12. I agree with you there. I've managed to get my wife interested by telling her that jason Isaacs is in it as well
  13. I've also found a teaser poster for the film. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v110/Jimyyz2112/Sfi/kong.jpg
  14. In addition a script for PJ's adaptation is available here. As to its authenticity, who knows
  15. The fact is that directors at that time did not have the technology, nor the resources (most 'horror' films were considered 'b-movies' and, correspondingly, had lower budgets) so were forced to find alternatives. Hence they understood atmosphere better than a lot of today's directors. This resulted in their films being frightening in a more subtle way - causing the viewer to be unsettled rather than shocked/repulsed by the images on the screen. I think Stephen King summed it up best in an interview I read with him a few years ago. He called it the 'six-foot bug syndrome' and it followed the lines of: If, on screen, you see a six-foot bug you'll be scared but part of your mind will say "Thank God its only six-foot, it could have been eight. If its an eight-foot bug you'll say well it could have been ten. If its ten-foot..." I think you get the picture. Saying that, from all reports I've heard, the new crop of Oriental directors have got the balance right - even if, again according to reports, they're all starting to riff on Ringu. By the way has anyone seen the original Tetsuo? Its not really a scary film but it deserves mention.
