  1. iven everything that's happened in our fanbase, I think we can all agree that this woman is a complete scumbag for what she did. DW: In a nutshell, a woman on Dr. Phil lied about having terminal cancer to get attention and free things.
  2. You mean as far away from the likes of you as possible? I deleted my original reply because I'm not going to engage.
  3. hen I first saw this interview with Geddy on the Eddie Trunk show, I had assumed that he sounded like he had a head cold.....But looking back....it honestly sounds like he's trying to hold back tears, knowing how sick Neil was, and that he was most likely not going to recover.... Honestly right now, I really hope Ged and Al are...in a safe place.
  4. Think of it this way, the person may be gone, but the music carries on.
  5. Yes- really good tribute, I thought. And here's a response from one of his fellow staff writers, NOT a really good tribute. Neil's body is barely cold and this jerk is slagging on him. https://www.national...een-this-wrong/ If I was Carrie and Olivia, I'd sue for slander.
  6. I read this as well. As time passes we’ll surely learn more. I suppose people will share their stories more and more when it’s not so fresh and painful as it is right now, refraining for now out of respect to the family. I found out in November 2019 though a gentleman my dad and I met who had the same nanny as Neil, Carrie and Olivia. I didn't believe it. I wanted to forget it and never told a soul....... I think that says a lot about your status as a Rush stan and you as a human to respect Neil's wishes and not tell anybody here.
  7. Looking back...With three big known rock stars dying of cancer in the past four years, it's almost kinda interesting to see how they took their diagnoses. David Bowie decided to release his final passion project Gordon Downie decided to bring his band on a final massive tour Neil Peart decided to spend time close with his family and loved ones
  8. There really weren't any "leaks", but I do recall that there were some rumors flying around for the past few years....Like I said in the other thread, they all seemed like crack theories until two days ago when the horrible truth was revealed :(
  9. I think that the reason why he's not having this huge televised memorial for him like Michael Jackson or Lemmy is simply because that's not what he wanted.....Him laying in a box is not how he wanted Rush fans to remember the legendary Neil Peart....
  10. I don't believe that Neil was sick around the time he decided to retire from Rush, however if you take into consideration that he's been sick for about 4 years and Rush's last concert was about 5 years ago, I think it explains why Rush went from "We're still a band, this was just our last major tour" to suddenly "Rush is officially retired" around 2016. It really explains why Geddy, who has admitted several times, that he still has some fire in the furnace, only made two guest appearances playing bass, and did a single book signing tour since Rush ended...
  11. I think that eventually, we could hear some kind of update from Ged and Al's camp, but considering the massive loss they and all of us have just went through....They deserve all the time that they need to mourn.
  12. We don't know if he knew at that point or if he was even having any symptoms. It's silly to assume otherwise. Regardless, it was still wrong of me to make those assumptions
  13. As far as I know, no one outside of his inner circle knew. It just shows how much respect others had for him. No one leaked out anything about him or his illness. To be fair, it has been theorized a few years ago that Neil was having medical issues...and that was the real reason why Rush ceased touring or even making music as a whole....For the most part, I and many others simply wrote it off as a crack theory.....Would have never guessed it would actually be true....
  14. Surprised nobody blamed SpaghettiLee lol
  15. I can bet that there were many times Ged broke down in tears in hotel rooms on his book signing tour :(
  16. Don't we all! Even the most die-hard fans (like us) must keep reminding themselves that they really don't know squat about the lives of their rock & roll heroes. The same goes for film stars, sports heroes, etc. Just as they don't know us at all, we don't know them. We are strangers to each other. Just like I said in the other thread, hearing of Neil's death was bad enough as a Rush fan, I simply cannot imagine what Geddy and Alex are going through right now. Ged's book tour was only this past summer, I can't imagine just how difficult it was for him to do that, knowing that there were going to be some fans that were going to ask about a Rush reunion or simply ask "Hey Geddy, big fan here! Heard from Neil lately?" And each and every time he has to put on a fake smile and say he's fine....God, if Ged or Al were in the same room as me right now, I'd definitely let them have a good long cry on my shoulder.
  17. Regarding my angry posts and general dissatisfaction with the way Rush ended...There was a time where as a Rush stan, I had feelings of resentment towards the fact that Rush had ended their touring career in 2015. I foolishly believed that Neil was to blame and that he "left Ged and Al hanging" and that he killed Rush......I really wish I knew then what I know now.....I wish I can go back in time and tell myself "DUDE, NEIL IS LITERALLY DYING OF CANCER YOU INCONSIDERATE FUCKING SELFISH DICKHEAD"
  18. This might sound uber cheesy but I honestly hope that Ged and Al spent plenty of time with him and were there to provide him with some level of comfort in his final days....holding his hand, telling him not to be afraid...
  19. Who woulda thought Ozzy would outlive everybody? However on a similar subject....this is why part of me is still worried about EVH....If Neil kept his illness under wraps like this...who's to say there's not a lot of details that Dave, and the VH family isn't keeping under wraps?
  20. Whats really upsetting about all of this....It's horrible for us to hear about this news.....I can't imagine how it must have been for Geddy and Alex right now and for the past almost 4 years. They clearly knew he was sick....And every single time that an interviewer stuck a microphone in their faces, or a fan went up to them on the street and asked them. "What's the likelihood of a reunion?" "Will Rush ever play again?" and they had to simply say that Neil wasn't playing drums anymore....And all the times that they had to put on a happy face when someone brought up Neil and pretend that everything was all hunky dory :( God...I can't imagine what a heavy burden that is.....
  21. This is probably the most devastated I've been over a celebrity dying since Michael Jackson....RIP Neil...I only hope that you're now reunited with your wife and daughter...
  22. As much as I don't want to criticize my favorite bassist, I think that it can be chalked up to a little bit of laziness on Ged's part. Especially with the intro to Mission and the slap bass on Scars. But as I said before, if anyone has earned the right to be a little lazy, it's Geddy. I mean shit, he's already helped made Rush into one of the most popular progressive arena rock bands in the whole wide world by the early 80s. Geddy hasn't and never will play slap bass! Listen to Red Lenses from Hawaii 1984.

He always wanted to do more. Someone always had to tell him to stop messing with the songs. He was known as being too meticulous and a tinkerer. All of that has been well documented from his own interviews and the other two guys. Exactly, Ged is probably one of the hardest workers out of all the guys in Rush, which is why I think he earned the right to be a little lazy with the keyboards.

  25. Well I wouldn't really consider rap/hip hop artists to be bands.
