  1. All three are awesome
  2. I like all three, Red Tide is easily the weakest though. I honestly don't get the Heresy hate, gorgeous tune with meaningful lyrics. Really cool arpeggiation during the bridge
  3. As soon as Dream Theater released an album they were already a parody of themselves. They're a joke. I saw them live a few months ago and it was difficult not to laugh at the absurdity of the whole thing
  4. James LaBrie is super annoying (especially his horrible singing) but I'd still go with the tribute
  5. Ok just to clarify. In order for a song to be considered a guilty pleasure you don't actually have to feel guilty about it. I should have phrased differently I guess, but I meant more like "what songs do you like that everybody else would give you shit for?"
  6. I've always thought of Tool as one of the closest comparisons to Rush. More so than the bands listed here. Rush really have their own thing going though, no band is THAT similar
  7. All three are some of the greatest musical achievements ever, but I've gotta go with Hemispheres. It just barely edges out 2112, and 2112 just barely edges out Fountain
  8. I would sooner piss my pants before I left during ANY song! (Unless it's a cover ;) )
  9. Yeah I think I have to add You Bet Your Life to my list as well. I think you're the first person I've ever seen compliment it on here
  10. I don't think he could sing The Twilight Zone anymore. Yeah there's no way. The verses are insanely high (no pun intended :smoke: )
  11. There's a very good reason for that...
  12. It doesn't have original material...duh!
  13. That part is gorgeous. I really love how Alex waits to resolve that riff until the end of the song. He just knows that everyone's waiting for him to do it, and he knows just when to execute it
  14. You forgot CA. Hold Your Fire, Power Windows and Grace Under Pressure too...
  15. People don't like Discovery???
  16. Chain Lightning, Scars, Hand Over Fist, Scars... Really every song on Presto is fantastic except for Scars, Anagram, and Red Tide. But I still really like all of them
  17. I forgot about Virtuality, that's also one of mine. It's funny, the chorus is actually my favorite part next to the bridge
  18. Anagram is great! I love Neil's fill right after Geddy goes high "the saint turns to sin!" ooh those fills. I actually love Neil's drum sound on the entire record. Mick People love to shit on his drum tone saying it sounds like Tupperware or whatever, but much like Geddy's Wal tone, it fit the sound perfectly. I love it!
  19. Anagram is great! I love Neil's fill right after Geddy goes high "the saint turns to sin!"
  20. CA. There's just more to be explored than on the debut
  21. I'm sure we all have our Rush guilty pleasures. I have two: Carve Away the Stone (better known as Marv Albert's Gall Stone) and Out of the Cradle. Anyone else?
  22. The Fountain of Lamneth, I love the final lyrics. Honorable mentions to Mystic Rhythms, Natural Science, and La Villa
  23. A Farewell to Kings for me. I love the combination of synth and classical guitar. Best opening to any album ever. Honorable mentions to Hemispheres, Subdivisions, Spirit, and Big Money
  24. 1. Better songs The only tune that's absolutely lights out us La Villa. Cygnus has brilliant moments musically, but ultimately too long, with a forgettable guitar solo. Circumstances is a decent song but not great. The Trees is the 2nd best track IMO. 2. Better Vocals Geddy's voice that record is just lacking nuance. In addition, and we all know this, it's too strained. The Trees is the best effort vocally. On CA Geddy is off the hook awesome in this regard 3. Depth While Hemispheres offers depth (Hard to deny La Villa & Hemispheres), CA seems endless in terms of imagination and scope. To put it in artistic vernacular—they're painting in the corners. 4. Fresh and new Sorry. Hemispheres seems to be leftover material, save La Villa, from AFTK. CA sounds like nothing else the band has recorded, yet brings the listener to the familiar—over and over again. 5. More music I'll quality over quantity anyday. CA is monstrous for 66 minutes 6. Balls Yes, gonadal integrity resurfaces on CA unlike any record since 2112 7. Better cover art What man enjoys looking at another dude's butt. Or, looking at some creep in a bowler (with cane) checking out a naked guy's package? CA wins hands down You make some good points, but the cover art on CA was extremely disappointing for me. The inside artwork is fantastic, but the cover art is just blah. IMO the cover art is alright, better than 2112, Hemispheres, and Counterparts (yes, even the cover art is bad). Still not as good as AFTK or even T4E though. How the f**k is the CA artwork better than 2112? It's red clouds with a clock on it I always thought the cover art to 2112 was a bit... Simplistic, that's all. Oh yeah, the CA art is just loaded with complexity. I will admit that the inside cover art of CA is cool, but the cover is pretty lame
