  1. Rod you are not the only 1 in this boat. I am in a career transition as well as a few key TRF members. Do what is right....for you and your family. I am having to make that same choice...
  2. Jim Morrison simply said OH YEAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH.....I'M A BACK DOOR MAN ................. Men don't know.....what the little girl...understand.... Now how can Neil compete with the 1st rock Poet????.............WAIT..I'm being told this was written by Willie Dixon.....FAIL Just another 60's rip off of old Blues songs....Yes I'm talking about u Led Zep.......... Now just for Lorraine.... :7up: :pussy:
  3. As much as we like to think that's just special to Rush's fanbase, there are plenty of bands that have fans like that. Both old and new bands inspire that kind of devotion. I remembering reading an interview with James Hetfield of Metallica where he says that they've been seeing a lot of the same fans showing up at their shows for years. Including some fans that got into them back in the early 80s when they were just a small club band. Yes, Rush fans are a very loyal bunch. But that loyalty is not exclusive to them. I am sorry I gave the impression that I thought it was just Rush that had loyal fans. I don't. Just was wondering if any band today will have the same fans in forty years. If the band even lasts forty years itself. I think this is the key ... Obviously, if a band has a career that spans 40 years, that means that fans have stuck around ( how else would a band last that long ? ) ... Yes, new fans will come on at different times - as was the case with Rush - but I think it is safe to assume that there will be diehards who've been there all along .. One of the first performers that came to mind when I saw this thread was Stevie Ray Vaughan .. Had tragedy never struck, he would be 62 years old now, and I'm sure, still going strong .. Stevie was an amazing, dedicated performer and I think that is what will keep the fans ... If the band or performer is there, I am sure the fans will be too ... I know that in my case, I am still as obsessive as ever in regards to interest . . Lucas this goes back to my theory. Had musicians lived we are not sure what would have happened. Had Elvis and Jimi Hendrix lived, they both may have been judges on American Idol We may not see Disembodied Spirit on this site anymore. Pretty sure he was struck by lightening after that comment. Your 410 posts do not frighten me and I stand by my comment. Elvis and Jimi on American Idol Jim Morrison would have sobered up and been the Michael Bolton of 1982 Janis would have...well Janis was overrated and would have been on that plane with Lynyrd Skynyrd..so no big loss
  4. I'm not sure the creative or distribution process should inherently be impacted negatively by technology But technology has made it easier to steal - and that is on the "fans" Sting had a great quote recently about his new album and said..and I am paraphrasing.... 'this album is for my real fans. I wanted to give them something different that they have been asking for.' He went on to say, the label expects to lose money on the project and he said that's okay send me the bill. Saying he will have to tour next year to pay off these same debts.......WOW ^^This is the future

I am sorry I gave the impression that I thought it was just Rush that had loyal fans. I don't. Just was wondering if any band today will have the same fans in forty years. If the band even lasts forty years itself. The answer to this is few if any. The band would have to be special to a large group of people and that is hard to do, in a no radio support, so many options world. Reverse the equation. Name 10 bands that STARTED 1995 or later who still sell records and still sell concert tickets and have done so without a large hiatus. Pearl Jam, Dave Mathews??? Do they have fanatics?? Probably. Most likely.....but Matchbox 20 does not To get to 10, you really have to think. But we can probably think of 30 bands who started in 1975 or later who still tour and sell tickets.
  7. I think the bigger question is what band who HAD a huge following but has been dormant for years still has THAT fanbase?? We live in a world where everyone gets back together even with some of the members, etc...That is a hard question to ask. I will use Led Zep as a 'WE walked away forever' band. When they quit, they quit. Now they still had fans, because they were so FM radio based, but I never met a Led Zep fanatic. There have been rumors for years about a reunion tour...but would those fans be fans FROM the 1970's or just people going to see a piece of history?? People find other things of importance. Like Narps said, kids and grown kids today have no loyalty towards a band because they grew up in a CD/ download world....it's just songs...
  8. I'm not a fanatic as some. I knew once I bought tickets for R40 it was probably the last tour I would see. I'm a realist. I planned on seeing them once and lucked out I was in a town they were playing on the 2nd show. I would never travel to see them again. I also thinks this was them pouring their hearts out. Another tour might seem forced. But to me personally if they tour again I'm out. If the record again I'm probably out. Have not enjoyed any record this century for more than a few plays. The band changed and that's fine, but for me, they grew in ways that was not my cup of tea.
  9. That might be the Holy Grail of Afterschool specials
  10. Today on the ABC Afterschool special ...good to have you back 1980
  11. I want to learn to ride a motorcycle and at the same time alienate my co-workers
  12. Actually it probably hasn't been much more than 2 years show time according to people who've calculated. This lack of time passing when Carl has clearly aged is among the most annoying things about this show since it could easily be remedied with a line or 2 of dialogue or a scene of exposition every once in a while. It's been way more than 2 years. Pay attention Lori thought Rick was dead. She Starting boning Shane, got pregnant, Rick returns, Lori then had Judith That was minimum 9 months... You mean to tell me the Farm/Prison/ Governor/ Terminus/ Battle the Hospital/ Alexandria/ Hilltop/ Negan storyline has only been 13 months???? You sir are highly mistaken. ....Now who here hopes 37 year old Carl gets some of Enid before her roller skating ass gets eaten by a zombie?? I'm not the one doing the calculating. This website lists the timeline as LESS than 2 years: http://walkingdead.w...V_Show_Timeline . Is Judith even walking yet? So while it feels like more time should realistically have passed given the events they're showing, Judith's age alone implies a 24 or so month max. I might be more like 2 weeks, It never gets cold or snows. And yes. It gets very cold and snows in Georgia, and the trees are brown for 6 months

  14. Breathe deep the gathering gloom, Watch lights fade from every room. Bedsitter people look back and lament, Another day's useless energy spent. Impassioned lovers wrestle as one, Lonely man cries for love and has none. New mother picks up and suckles her son, Senior citizens wish they were young. Cold hearted orb that rules the night, Removes the colours from our sight. Red is grey and yellow white. But we decide which is right. And which is an illusion? WAIT, I'm Now being told this was NOT written by Neil Peart.....carry on
  15. Pat Benatar- For being the inspiration at the lunch table
  16. Let me get this correct. Last season on the Season finale the entire gang hopped into an RV, only to get stopped by Negan's men multiple times on the 'DRIVE' to Hilltop. This season, Enid and Carl, roller skate and Walk to Hilltop in less than 12 hours. (Sun was up when they left, and was still up when they arrived) No continuity mistake there. What a horrible episode
  17. My personal favorite was post 11,916 which simply said. 'SHUT YOUR MOUTH ! It's always Cheetos '
  18. Adding a few more colours might be a good place to start! But then again, people used to call Cdn dollars "monopoly money"... Europe uses colour and size to distinguish bills. Pretty smart. Adding a few more colours might be a good place to start! But then again, people used to call Cdn dollars "monopoly money"... Europe uses colour and size to distinguish bills. Pretty smart. I can see the different size issue with coins [within reason, which I'm quite happy with the U.S.'s standard], the different color issue with paper currency, but I don't see the different SIZE being smart for paper currency. Just more stupid sh*t to confuse the user. what is the USE of it? Color and number on the currency is enough IMO to do the job. http://i81.photobucket.com/albums/j223/OldRUSHfan/Banana%20World/Banana%20in%20yellow%20baseball%20cap.gif Blind people. We have bumpy lumps of braille on ours! And Conrad Bain on one! Why do I picture a blind man at an ATM withdrawing Canadian money, then feeling the size of it??
  19. Canada has a Toonie and a Loonie The US has pennies we just throw on the ground. If America is going to become great again, let's start by making our Money FUN again
  20. How did this song ONLY get to #8 in Switzerland???????????? I mean, at NO point in the 70's there could not have been 7 better songs than this across the Alps
  21. This is not thanking a certain band, I wish to thank a certain year. I was 12 years old and My family moved from Illinois to Hawaii (Military relocation) and I am thankful for what was personally a major year of growth mentally and physically for me. Music helped me thru this time. And I learned to love a wide variety of music. 1980-1981 were 2 absolutely amazing years musically and not sure I would have made it as easy without some of the great records that came out over 2 summers and an entire school year. Queen- The Game, Ozzy- Blizzard of Ozz AND Diary of a Madman, Genesis- Duke AND Abacab, Pink Floyd- The Wall, Foreigner- 4, Def Leppard- On Through The Night, The Police- Zenyatta Mondatta and Ghost In The Machine, Rush - Permanent Waves and Moving Pictures, REO Speedwagon - Hi Fidelity, Bruce Springsteen- The River, Judas Priest- British Steel, Rolling Stones -Tattoo You, Van Halen -Women and Children First AND Fair Warning Journey-Escape, Iron Maiden- Iron Maiden AND Killers, ACDC -Back In Black AND For Those About to Rock. I know there were others, but ALL of these are still in my iPod
  22. I am with Lucas. Earth Wind & Fire for making it everytime I say 'Do You Remember?' I start to sing this song
