No animate, for some bizarre reason the background music isn't Rush! Crazy! -

the backstage secrets thing is a great insight. I love it. The only thing I find incredibly annoying about it is the music they put on in the 'background'...drives my nuts. I wish there was a version without it! -
yes, Neil chooses the set list and mentioned this in his book/s regarding previous tours. I've not seen this tour's list though.

Clockwork Angels Tour Fails to Connect with fans
mk2112 replied to Tombstone Mountain's topic in On The Lighted Stage
Is it me, or is this thread just a little bit bonkers -
As much as we'd all like to meet our 'heroes', chat to them albeit just briefly adding a 'thank you so much for the music' at the end as if no one else had said it to them before, I think they do have a right to some privacy. Yes of course bumping into fans comes with the 'territory' but the guys have been doing this for 40 years now..it must get extremely tedious for all of them to constantly smile when they meet any one. I think Neil has a right to be left alone...just because I've seen them in concert 'x 'times, bought all the albums etc etc etc so have thousands of others. Multiply that couple of minute you'd like to spend with them by several thousand and it would mean they'd have no life of their own. I'm going to make do by sending an item to be signed to the venue, and hopefully it will come back signed. I can't hope for much more than that. I certainly can't afford £1000s for a brief somewhat fake 'meet and greet' set up where you stand for just a few seconds next to Alex and Geddy......

Yes, I think that happened on the TM tour was it...he mentioned it in his blog.
-
That's funny, No problem I love all those types of stories
-
Thank you. I thought it might have been that.

I just wondered if Alex, Geddy and Neil use in ear monitors (as do the C.A.S.E.), why the need for bass bin side fills..is it just so they can literally feel that low end rumble?
-
Oh, A bit worrying to read those last posts. They are 60ish aren't they, and can't keep going for ever. Geddy basically can't talk for a whole day following a show, so that much take its toll.
-
they play what they want, and out of an almost 3 hour show there should be at least 2 hours worth that everyone likes. I'm not keen on CA but they must really like it judging by the number of tracks being played. 3 weeks tonight for me!!!
-
Thanks for that jack11. That's a relief to know someone else has the same type of 'ticket', but like you I won't be totally happy about it until I'm actually inside that building!

interesting story. It gets a bit ridiculous though. The other day I saw a couple of BMW bikes parked up and immediately thought 'it might be Neil!'..That was for around one microsecond then I remembered they're not in the UK yet! Sad! I have no idea what I'd do...probably stay away otherwise you come into 'stalker' territory. There's a lovely story on his blog about the bikes breaking down in the middle of nowhere, getting help, and then one of the helpers revealing they used to be a Rush fan etc etc...look it up.

My ticket arrived today!!!! At last. Well, I think it's a ticket. It's an A4 sheet of paper with something resembling a ticket at the top with bar codes, and various ticketmaster ads take up the rest of the space. I bought it 8 months ago, but it's here. Such a relief!
-
I can't see that happening somehow, unless the sales of CA have been noticeably less in the UK in which case they might decide to drop a few tracks from CA. I very much doubt that's going to happen.

These shots are excellent - so sharp! Well done, and thank you!! -
I fear this leg of the tour is going to be "Blah!"
mk2112 replied to Snaked's topic in On The Lighted Stage
excellent.....yes, reply 'BLAH' during 2112.The fact that the three of them wear in ear monitors and can't hear anything of the crowd at all doesn't matter. I wonder if they'll play 'BLAHstille Day'? -
What is Rush's most technically challenging song?
mk2112 replied to theanalogmiddleagedman's topic in Rush
I would have to agree with an earlier post about the drum side of things. I'm sure I've read and heard Neil interviews where he says Tom Sawyer is the most demanding for him to play, so I'll go with that. I must say the drum part during the guitar solo section of 'Freewill' is frighteningly difficult - look it up on youtube if you don't believe me. I hadn't realised until I got the Taking centre stage DVD. Scary! I'd been listening to it for decades and never noticed! The shame of it! For Alex I think it would be La Villa partly because it's such a long track. For Geddy, I think some of those songs from the 80s with tricky bass parts and vocals over the top must be the ones. -
I didn't like it when it first came out, although I recognise that the musicianship and production on it are is first class. A year on and I have to say that it's now made it into my 'favourite 19 Rush Studio albums' list ;-)
-
Geddy's a crazy baseball fan. I'm a Brit and even I knew that ;-)

I hope you get them. Your situation is more serious than mine. I will be bitterly disappointed if I don't get my ticket, but on a positive note the O2 is only 4 miles from my house...I think it's a little further to yours!
