  1. I am doing everything in my power to not click on anything that might contain a setlist spoiler and I've got three weeks to go. So far I haven't been this committed since I switched from briefs to boxers.
  2. I have to agree with the criticism of the mix(es). My wife and I chase around the String Cheese Incident and Gov't Mule, and they turn around amazing-sounding recordings for download in three days. You would think, given all the time they take to release live recordings, Rush's would sound better than what comes from a dude who just sparked a fattie and ate a grilled cheese in the parking lot.
  3. Down the Tubes because there are no quality boots from the tour and there are from all the others. And knowing what we know now I would love to tell them I'm from the future and trust me, it's all going to work out just fine.
  4. It was something Live Nation offered at checkout a couple tours ago. I have one and it is my everyday water bottle at work. Sorry Robert, but I poked around the web and they don't seem to exist. Not even eBay (hence your post here).
  5. I was 14 years old growing up in Cleveland the summer of 1974 when I heard Finding My Way on WMMS. Been in it from the beginning.
  6. Hey, mlc - Great find on the Dragon photos. Makes total sense. Tuesday was a perfect day in East Tennessee.
  7. Since he's left town I can now post this picture and tell my story without any fear of being labeled a "stalker." If you remember Neil's winter blog he told the story of passing through Knoxville between Cleveland and Charlotte last October. Well, I live in downtown Knoxville and as I pulled into the parking garage last night these two bikes off to the left caught my eye. My wife immediately asked, "What are you looking at?" I said, "I think that's Neil's bike. She then chirped, "How would you know that?" "Trust me, I would know." So we park our car and walk down to the bikes. "Go see if the red one has Canadian or California plates, I asked." She walks over and looks at the rear plate and a look of amazement takes over and out comes: "Holy, shit! The plates are from Quebec! It's his bike!" So, now what to do? She leaves for yoga and I plot my next move. I was going to put a business card on his windshield with "See tomorrow night in Nashville" on the back, but figured he would then have all the information he needed to file a restraining order. And, as there's no way to casually walk over to his dinner table, the only way I could ever say anything would have to be a chance encounter on the street. So I spent last night taking laps around downtown Knoxville ducking in and out of the top eateries. The problem is I had a drink at every stop. No, I couldn't have had a water every now and again, it had to be vodka. Now it's 9:30pm and I'm a little loopy, so I head home. My wife returns from yoga at 9:45pm and says she's hungry and let's go grab a bite at the Bistro. I didn't want to admit to pub crawling in the off chance I might "bump into" Neil on the street, so I said I was too engrossed in my book and it was getting late. Because let's face it, Neil doesn't want to hear from me in the first place and he REALLY doesn't want to hear from a guy with a snoot full. We crawl into bed at 10:00pm, read, and fall asleep. This morning we awoke to a missed call at 10:04pm on my wife's phone (remember, she was in yoga and all phones are set to silent). The girlfriend she went to yoga with had called to say she's pretty damn sure she just saw Neil walk into the Bistro and to get our butts over there. But again, the phone is on silent. So, the Beemer Boyz stayed in Knoxville again last night and that was a close as I'll probably ever get to meeting Mr. Peart. Now if I can just remember to order water every other time I'll be in business.
  8. I can confirm the Bridgestone Arena in Nashville accepts packages. I just got back from the post office and we'll see how it goes.
  9. I'm just thrilled someone mentioned Bacchus Plateau. Not gonna happen, but one of my all-time faves. Yes, I'm a sentimental old fart. That's "The Way It Is."
  10. I did buy it and determined it is the same mix as the CD I already had, so I don't think it was worth the additional $20. Sonically there is just not that much of a difference. Not that you asked, but of all the versions I've heard I far prefer my vinyl copy.
  11. So I don't post much, but this thought crossed my mind today: I think it would be cool to dress the string section in steampunk attire. They would compliment the stage craft and help them "blend."
  12. Fifth Order and two other recordings from Cleveland around that time were recorded and broadcast by WMMS (the station where Donna Halper worked). These are those recordings. Fifth Order was recorded on 8.26.74 and the others very much worth listening to are 12.16.74 and 5.15.75. Geddy's singing of Bad Boy "...moved in to my neighborhood" at the end of 5.15.75 is one of my faves.
  13. So... I'm curious to hear from someone who bought tickets through the Music Today avenue for the first leg of the tour. I went the Ticketmaster VIP route and landed fourth row on Alex's side. They were awesome seats but I now have all the same schwag they're offering this go 'round (with the exception of the Classic Albums DVDs which I can always get at Best Buy). I highly doubt they're going to change the shirt and poster designs. But, maybe. If the Music Today block of tickets is further back I'll go the VIP route again and give away the stuff, but if someone got fourth row (or equivalent) from Music Today, I'll save the hassle. Thanks. BTW: I'm really digging this forum. You folks are most helpful. http://www.therushforum.com/html/emoticons/bekloppt.gif
