  1. there aren't that many prog songs so this list could never happen
  2. QUOTE (J2112YYZ @ Jun 20 2012, 09:14 AM) QUOTE (Enemy Within 77 @ Jun 20 2012, 12:51 AM) Judas Priest invented metal - not Sabbath! I think it's 50/50. Sabbath no doubt invented the heavy sound that would come to be associated with the genre but Priest was the band that made it sound metallic. Who the frakk is Kate Bush? 1. Sabbath recorded a lot of very good material with Tony Martin on vocals. 2. Nirvana lowered the standard for rock music. That's why modern rock is in the sad state it is now. They influenced the next generation to be mediocre. 3. The only rap group who has ever really mattered is Public Enemy. 4. Slayer is good but not nearly as great as a lot of metal fans make them out to be. 5. Megadeth's first album really isn't that good. 6. I love Anthrax with John Bush on vocals. 7. I actually like most of Metallica's Reload album. 8. Testament is the most underrated thrash band ever. They're much better than Slayer. 9. Weird Al Yankovic rules. 10. Mike Patton (Faith No More) is one of the best vocalists of all time. kate bush is a british singer who started in the late 70s, got signed to EMI when she was like 15 or 16 after DAVID GILMOUR heard her demo tape, she's collaborated with david gilmour, peter gabriel, jeff beck, prince, stephen fry, shitload of other people. some notable fans are cliff burton, quorthon from bathory, cronos from venom... plus she was hot as shit years ago ALSO you really think nirvana lowered the standard for rock music? made it okay to be mediocre? and you're saying that when they came right after a decade of hair bands? i'd say bands like motley crue lowered the standard far more than nirvana did.
  3. QUOTE (RodrigoAltaf @ Jun 21 2012, 10:02 AM) QUOTE (ReRushed @ Jun 21 2012, 09:23 AM) QUOTE (RodrigoAltaf @ Jun 21 2012, 10:20 AM) QUOTE (rushgoober @ Jun 21 2012, 09:03 AM) QUOTE (RodrigoAltaf @ Jun 21 2012, 06:53 AM) I just remembered the quintessential unpopular opinion I have: I HATE the Beatles. Can't stand them. I get that they were important and influenced 99,99% of the bands/artists I like, but come on...enough already, their songs have beem around for 50 years now. What does how long their songs have been around for have to do with you hating them? Come on, do you still listen to Twist and Shout, Come Together, here Comes the Sun and stuff like that? I didn't like them the first time I heard them, and the fact that they've been played to exhaustion all this time does not help. I listen to "Long Tall Sally", "Because" and "Oh Darling" and about 250 other songs never played to death on the radio. I do think they're overrated, and don't have any of their records. All the songs I heard that a lot of people told me were great, I didn't like so much. But agreeing to disagree is what this thread is all about anyway, right? try listening to an album it seems you are trying to have a dissenting opinion to seem rebellious...I could be wrong
  4. QUOTE (Bastille Dave @ Jun 20 2012, 06:26 PM) my unpopular opinion? this thread title should be changed to the "Kate Bush worship thread". all it takes is reading and you can see that most of these posts are not about kate bush but i know reading can be quite difficult...
  5. well, the dude's obviously a dumbass for making this thread to begin with, so name-calling would be expected
  6. ^except ace and peter who were smart enough to leave (or lucky enough to get fired, i dunno the story)
  7. aerosmith sucks bad company sucks
  8. odd, I listened to operation mindcrime this morning
  9. ^that's a fairly popular opinion outside the pages of rolling stone
  10. it's like this when I don't sleep during the day though sometimes not that it matters
  11. I know it seems like I'm on all day and night, but I didn't wake up til 4 this afterning

  17. QUOTE (t2s @ Jun 20 2012, 02:40 AM) QUOTE (beherit @ Jun 20 2012, 12:31 AM) have you heard her 2 newest albums? 12 years after the red shoes came out she released AERIAL which is one of her best records. and then last year she put out 50 WORDS FOR SNOW which is also great Aerial is her best album* ooh, an unpopular opinion! I still gotta go with Hounds
  18. have you heard her 2 newest albums? 12 years after the red shoes came out she released AERIAL which is one of her best records. and then last year she put out 50 WORDS FOR SNOW which is also great

  20. QUOTE (Enemy Within 77 @ Jun 20 2012, 02:19 AM) Pleasantly surprised at all the Kate Bush worship around here. She is indeed awesome! yeah and what sucks is no one in my area wants to check her out. they assume she's like, 80's pop like tiffany or debbie gibson. i'm like omg you gotta hear kate bush but people just don't care
  21. I like a ton of new metal, just not the core shit
  22. sweet I like all forms of metal except metalcore and the new deathcore shit
  23. QUOTE (Oracle @ Jun 20 2012, 02:18 AM) 1. Pink Floyd gets too much credit for Dark Side of the Moon 2. Madonna was the best female artist in the 80s, but Kate Bush came out virtually unscathed 3. Kiss are not good and were never good because they were the typical radio/stadium rock group of the 70s and 80s 4. Radiohead is good (waiting for the shitstorm...) 5. Yes hasn't been good since the Union tour, though the album supporting it is absolute shit 6. Many fans of Tool, Puscifer, and anything related to James Maynard Keenan are dumb pricks who think all those projects are for "thinking individuals" 7. There IS good hip hop in the underground music scene, just as there is other good genres 8. Steven Wilson is becoming more self absorbed and that depresses me 9. Porcupine Tree will never release another album as great as Signify. Do not argue this, you will not win 10. The Orb are highly underrated by the mainstream music press, even though their last album with Dave Gilmour is stellar 11. The Zappa Family Trust has not properly given Frank Zappa's catalog the proper remastering/remixing it so desperately needs (we're still running off the damn Ryko reissues for f*ck's sake) 12. Wild Honey is better than Pet Sounds 13. Incubus has become more pop-metal than I am comfortable with who doesn't like radiohead? i don't care how obsessed you are with 70s and 80s dad music, radiohead have some good ass records here's one: yes hasn't had a great record since relayer
