  2. QUOTE (Rushman14 @ Jun 22 2012, 10:09 AM) QUOTE (trenken @ Jun 21 2012, 08:09 PM) I think the worst part of it for me is when they released Caravan and BU2B they sounded pretty good. The drums had real power to them, you can hear it in the kick drum, but then listen to them on the final album to compare them and the quality of the final mix has been ruined. It clearly doesnt sound as good when compared to the original releases and that extended into the recording of the rest of the songs. Yet in typical Trenken fashion, you acted like the condescending tool that you are when I mentioned I was worried about Caravan sounding different. Now here you are complaining about it, saying it is the worst part about the record. unbelievable. Let's revist it shall we? QUOTE (trenken @ Apr 25 2012, 09:56 AM) QUOTE (Rushman14 @ Apr 25 2012, 11:55 AM) QUOTE (trenken @ Apr 25 2012, 09:51 AM) QUOTE (Rushman14 @ Apr 25 2012, 11:50 AM) I love Caravan too and am afraid the re-record will not be as good. Why are you afraid of that? Pretty sure they didnt rewrite the song, and I seriously doubt it will sound much different than the original version. because the original is perfect. You do understand they aren't rewriting the song, right? We're just about rerecording it here. It makes no difference since Im pretty sure it's the same 3 guys playing, and the same guys recording it. People are weird sometimes. I'm weird because I'm afraid it will sound different? the production on HF sounds different! For once can you stop being an argumentative troll?

Its so easy to talk about this band for over an hr. Hell, ive been doin it since I was 12. But its even harder to stop talking about this band. I cut out some, and could have talked for another hour no prob...Thanks again Goobs, Chris, and everyone fer listening My office listened to the entire show. everyone I work with knows that I'm a huge fan of the band who's been counting down the hours for this release. Now, we've all listened to the album multiple times together. The men and women I work with absolutely love this music--especially the harder edged rockers. The women's perspective was most interesting, especially when it came to your show. It was fun listening to your reactions to each other and to the music. The way you all explained your different appreciations for RUSH was at times (please take no offense) hilarious, annoying, insightful, and flabbergasting...which is why we liked it so much more upon further reflection. Enjoyed it! thank you very kindly. those were some nice words. I am curious...what flabberghatsed yas? the rest is completely understandable heh The whole sound thing. My favorite comment was: "boy, are those guys the wine and cheese crowd RUSH fans or what?" Obviously you guys are hearing things in the recording that bother you, and it's mostly a personal/production thing I suppose. We listen to this and hear so many nuances...we really just don't grasp what the fuss is about. We hear the instruments with great clarity, appreciate the wall of sound as a dynamic in this music, and find it not lacking for anything...in terms of sound. Anyway, relatively minor point but it caused a re-action on the female side I thought was amusing. its pretty good, but i also eq'ed the music a lil. I boosted the highs, giving it a lil more clarity that you all heard. compare it to the CD, and then listen to MP heh. But Im stoked you all like MY SHOW Yeah...the one thing that would make it better is to have a musician's voice amongst the roundtable.
  4. QUOTE (losingit2k @ Jun 22 2012, 09:13 AM) Another good review, I do hope the younger generation gets into this album. I know my 15 year old daughter and 9 year old son have but they're bias! I gotta share this with you. My boys are 7 and going on 4. The oldest loves to listen to Caravan and the chorus especially. The youngest looks at the artwork for the song and it just takes him to another world. Anyway, I told them about the story, simplified of course, and they just wanted to listened to every song after that. The seven year old is asking me to pronouce words and everything that he can't read on the lyric sheet. They asked me if the guys in the photo were for real...I then put in Caravan from time machine DVD...They were some air-drumming & air guitaring little monkeys after that...good stuff!!!! Now, we all can't stop thinking big around the house!

  7. Can't say what the best is---I know which one is the weakest--RUSH
  8. QUOTE (Mika @ Jun 21 2012, 03:12 PM) Thanks for sharing, that was really good! I agree with Workaholic Man - comparing current albums with previous albums from 30 years ago is kind of unfortunate - the whole point of continually progressing as a band is to not repeat the same thing again. Rush's music life is a journey, and each new turn in the road they take brings forth something new. They're not going to create another Moving Pictures, just as there will not be another, say, A Farewell to Kings or Counterparts. I, for one, would be sad and disappointed if this were so; as much as I love some previous albums, it is the progression that intrigues me. And this album does kick ass, whether considering Rush's age or the number of albums beforehand. Simply, it's good, and that's good enough for me. the one thing I love so much about this album is how it does harken back to the testosterone days of a young rocking band. I love that element...been lacking for years. The craft of this effort is what blows my mind...they pull every tool and trick out of the bag and use it with fury and reckless abandon. It really confuses me that some would say that this is an album that is "safe" in terms of it's ambition. To me, it's all hanging out!!!!!
  9. I wonder how the interpretive dance fits in to all this?
  10. QUOTE (rushgoober @ Jun 18 2012, 12:07 AM) I don't know if I'm quite ready to say that Clockwork Angels is a better track than Armor and Sword, or that it's even as good in these early stages of listening, but it MIGHT be, and that is saying a LOT as Armor and Sword was their best song since Subdivisions. The song completely kicks my ass! Goobs--did I just read that Armor and Sword is the best song since Subdivisions in your book? They must grow amazing weed in California dude...just sayin.
  11. QUOTE (johndyar @ Jun 19 2012, 05:04 PM) QUOTE (Kelly D @ Jun 19 2012, 05:01 PM) QUOTE (johndyar @ Jun 18 2012, 01:07 PM) December, 1974 at the Cleveland Agora was the first time. Next was a year later in 1975 (November I think) at the Akron Civic Theater opening for Ted Nugent. They played The Necromancer! As Bubbles would say, "Oh my f@#$!" That's awesome! I tried to make the Summer 1974 show at the Cleveland Agora that ended up being recorded and played on WMMS (radio station) and lately released on CD as "ABC 1974" but couldn't get a ride. I remember that the 1975 Akron show ticket price was $5.65 (I had to borrow the money from my Mom who was in the hospital at the time!) Great pics and a fine day...thanks for sharing!
