  1. Love the song, but doesn't it sound a bit too upbeat and happy for the subject matter?
  2. In the fanpack, Nick R says that listening to CA makes him feel young again. Does it do this for you too? It's kind of ironic that an album written by a band at this stage in their career would "make fans feel young again," especially since CA is probably their most mature work. But, I feel it too - the excitement and "greatness" of this album harkens back to the good old days!
  3. My video tribute to Wish them Well...with rockets!
  4. In the fullness of time, a band to celebrate and respect. I just received the fanpack in the mail today and finally did the "proper listen" of the actual CD, with lyrics in hand, on my stereo system (with the same Klipsch speakers I've had since Hold Your Fire). My astonishment of this masterpiece has now reached previously unthinkable levels. Wow. Thank you Alex, Geddy, Neil, Nick, and crew!
  5. The Garden is epic. It's Rush's "Time"
  6. QUOTE (Gedneil Alpeart @ Jun 8 2012, 09:07 PM)The amount of praise this record is getting is amazing. Yes, it's new and we've been waiting a long time, so that could be a part of it, but the praise for this album seems to be of a higher intensity than when SA came out. This album to me is vastly superior to SA in all depsrtments, hands down. I cant believe in so late in their career, they come out with such a stunner, but also should not be surprised.....it's RUSH we're talking about! Their sincerity towards the craft and focused dedication towards this project truly bred a very inspired and musically powerful record. Not since the 1980s have I been more proud to be a Rush fan. These boys are unbelievable. This!
  7. Fun review, man! Love the "surrounded by utter sickness" - couldn't have said it better myself. And I cannot imagine the impact this album would be having on me right now if we hadn't already heard those 1st 3 tracks. It would be incomprehensible! This is a Rush masterwork!
  8. Title track is over-the-top phenomenal. The album is a true masterpiece!
  9. QUOTE (English Muffin @ Jun 7 2012, 02:36 PM) QUOTE (Earthshine_sf @ Jun 7 2012, 08:22 PM) QUOTE (English Muffin @ Jun 7 2012, 12:18 PM)Just worked it out on acoustic, It is already one of my most favourite songs to play What are the chords? Its in D tuning and... Beginning - G F C G (as you would do those chords normally) Other part - Am C and then a run down from F to D (with the little dalada on the first string) Done by ear so probably not 100% accurate Open D? (D A D F# A D)

  11. It does indeed deserve to be played - all of it. But 60+ minutes? Seems improbable. Perhaps a few one-off special performances could be scheduled next year, with a full orchestra (and of course a DVD filming)? Also seems highly unlikely, but how awesome would that be? Perhaps if The Boyz feel as strongly about this album as the fans (so far) seem to feel, they will consider something...
  12. It's an "anniversary present" for each of us, whether it's your 5th, 10th, 30th, or 38th year of fandom. But we've also helped make this happen. Our support through the years has made their longevity possible. This has allowed them to hone their craft to an incredible level, and write and perform with the confidence only decades of hard work can achieve. Be grateful for this masterpiece. Thank you, thank you, thank you!
  13. QUOTE (Dscrapre @ Jun 5 2012, 10:49 PM)QUOTE (samurai1993 @ Jun 5 2012, 07:17 PM) p.s: If you remember the fancy mics that they had in their mic stands during the Time Machine tour; those are copperphones and give a distorted/mid focussed tone. In the tour they used them for recording the crowd sounds, wondering if they recorded the distorted/low fi voices in the album with them, or that was post-production in the studio They might have also recorded vocals with a harmonica mic like Les Claypool sometimes does. On songs like Moron TV he gets a very similar vocal sound using one of those. All I know is that I hope they perform these megaphone vocals live on tour and don't just put them on a sampler like they seem to usually do. http://www.mymedialibrary.com/ged-fone.jpg
  14. Will Geddy use a megaphone live? ...for say, the vocals during the middle "jazzy" section of Clockwork Angels? Or will they just flip on an effect? (Or, perhaps those vocal parts will just be pre-recorded so Ged can jam around the stage?) I can't imagine seeing this: http://www.mymedialibrary.com/ged-fone.jpg
  15. Geddy says that The Garden is one of his proudest moments as a songwriter, in his entire career: http://watchmaker.classicrockmagazine.com/
  16. I'm floored by this album. As many have said, a band 38 years in, with all members pushing 60 years old, is NOT SUPPOSED TO BE ABLE TO DO THIS! Highlights for me so far (and I fully expect many more to surface over the coming days, weeks, months and years): - Jazzy/acoustic break in Clockwork Angels, right after the guitar solo. Holy crap! Where did they pull this out of?? -The "Beneath, Between, and Behind"-sounding riff in the Anarchist. The guitar tone even evokes the live version of BBB on Exit Stage Left: Phaser/Flanger City! Hell, the track even ends in a lovely Flanger sweep. Wow. -The middle eastern feel in the Anarchist (especially the solo!), and to a lesser extend in Carnies. -The acoustic guitar and "space" in Halo. Lovely. -The super catchy chorus of Seven Cities of Gold, smack in the middle of an extremely proggy/funky track! -The Wreckers -Wish them Well....can't get the chorus out of my head. -The Garden - incredible album ender, piano, solo, overall goodness.
  17. Anyone else hearing shades of Beneath, Between, and Behind's riff in The Anarchist??
  18. Here's the waveform for a really good sounding 192kbps MP3 that I found on the net...not brickwalled, but it does clip: http://mymedialibrary.com/HLF_192_audacity.jpg
  19. Here's a look at the waveform of a 192kbps MP3 found on the net...it appears to be a proper rip, and it sounds excellent. Doesn't seem to be brickwalled, but it does clip. Check it out: http://mymedialibrary.com/HLF_192_audacity.jpg
  20. Is it just me, or has the Rolling Stone stream increased in quality since this morning? Perhaps they upped the bit rate after the initial traffic slam?
