  1. I prefer [song from a 1990 album, not 2013 as Youtube suggests]
  2. TBH, no one cares if you like them. They don't even need your support. Thanks for sharing, I was having fun but you're clearly coming from a place of superiority I cannot attain. Just remember you wandered into a topic for an artist/band you dislike. You had the freedom to click, or not.
  3. I don't objectively have any issues with Run Like Hell as a song, but Comfortably Numb and Goodbye Blue Sky, among others, are better individual tracks from The Wall.
  4. That's my takeaway as well. Shows how much class Waters has (none), and is consistent with his reputation in rock music circles for being unsavory.
  5. Couple more songs have reached completion, each different (of course) from the other new songs posted here. Each song is a unique experience, in what's become our patented "alienate the listener on 90% of our material" way. lol Yes, You Dice [this is a reinterpretation of one of my prior songs "Adulthood from 2013]
  6. He's adding some 'attitude'/aggression to the falsetto. I don't mind it, the falsetto in these examples is lightyears better than on Personal Shopper.
  7. I think that's what you're referring to, it's the higher register he can't hit 'normally' and uses a vocalist trick. He did it on a few solo songs as well, like Permanenting. Can you provided an exact time to the sections in the songs you're referring?
  8. What Do You Do for Money, Honey
  9. Got my boxed set (holy cow Burning Shed, how you hop the pond so quick??). First impression upon hearing the surround mix -- superb production, as one might expect herein from SW. Dignity is a great song, but I think STP want their Interstate Love Song back(?). Lots of interesting time changes and parts, very prog album. Plenty of weird keyboard elements, an identity of PT of the past. To my ears there's a strong meld here of PT and SW's solo stuff, like very 50/50 split stylisitically. I understand the bias people have against SW's solo material, and in response to them regarding this album I'd suggest they revisit Raven and HCE to hear the things from those albums that are on full display here. Well, half display here, but wholly and uniquely Steven Wilson.
  10. I heard this on the first Mangini album, very robotic performances. He's likely heard the criticisms because his last two albums have been much more inventive, and maybe more 'organic' if that's the proper word for drummer feel.
  11. It's tough to make any calls on whether this is worth it without hearing it first. The fact it's selling on a lot of different online stores is a sign there will be plenty of copies available after release day, so from a logistics standpoint there's not a lot of need to get in queue for this. There will be copies available in October.
  12. I think the excitement is for a definitive high resolution and surround version of the album. If they also improve on the overall fidelity, which is very likely since they're utilizing the discrete studio master tracks for the remix and surround mix, then it's going to be well worth $25. "Remasters" only take what was already released and run the final mix through some improved tools and adjust EQ, etc. There's only so much that can be improved upon in a remaster. Remix, whole different ballgame.
  13. Interesting take (and certainly can respect 'enough is enough' when it comes to buying more material). Have you heard the 2011remaster? Much better sounding. The original mix was always 'old' sounding, I even remember the first time I heard Animals and thought "Oh, this much be one of those Syd albums from the 60s". It's a fragile, gutless sounding recording. The 2011 remaster does solve some of that veil effect tossed over everything. Animals in the past about 20 years has become my favorite PF album as well. Beautiful songwriting and big, sweeping instrumental sections. Not my current cup of tea music, but still resonates with me regardless. Road trip coming up soon and, no lie, my GF said Animals and Operation Mindcrime were already on her playlist for the long drive. And probably some Johnny Cash, because Nevada desert. When I get my copy I'll report back on what, if anything, improves on the 2018 mix. In the meantime, I fully recommend the 2011 remaster: https://www.amazon.com/Animals-Pink-Floyd/dp/B004ZN9UZO/
  14. Same here. For those in the US, it's a bit cheaper from this site (and there's a few different packages, not just the bluray): https://www.importcds.com/animals-2018-remix/190758773193
  15. Exciting news for us Animals fans. https://www.thesdeshop.com/products/pink-floyd-animals-2018-mix-blu-ray-audio
  16. It's very difficult to rank their albums, each has its own personality. In Absentia has become my favorite over time, but it's not an indictment on the other albums of that era (Deadwing, FoaBP, Lightbulb Sun). I agree with The Analog Club, the new album falls somewhere among these top tier. It's yet another unique release. Of the later albums, The Incident is the only one I rarely visit anymore. It has some great individual tracks, but on a whole it's a tough play from beginning to end which is how I ingest music (albums, not tracks).
  17. It's fine. Not hearing anything that's going to make me run out and buy it. After Ear Candy my personal musical tastes drifted away from King's X. For me they had a clear sweet spot across a couple albums that worked for me. Foo Fighters would be another band that have two albums I love to death, back to back, but everything before and since not regular rotation worthy.
  18. For me as well, the only other Tull album not named Aqualung I enjoy. I'd be getting it mostly for the surround mix, but I'm basically not listening to surround music anymore so it's a bit of money to spend for something I may only spin once.
  19. I've managed a couple full listens in the car, overall positive as well. It seems like a continuation of where they left off on The Incident, which isn't may favorite material but it's still better than a lot of other things I could be listening to. Maybe the surround mix will reveal some things (going to be a bit until the bluray arrives).
