  1. QUOTE (beherit @ Jun 15 2012, 07:45 PM)QUOTE (Kelly D @ Jun 14 2012, 11:08 AM) Or like Ricky on TPB- "Play that Diane Sawyer song!" or we could do the "gimme an R" thing like Helix Give me a fackin' R!
  2. http://chanceplus1.com/adele-puking-is-my-good-luck-charm/ I stumbled upon this while googling "fat adele" Anyways, Rush deserves the #1 spot more than Fat Adele or Usher. CA is amazing!
  3. QUOTE (trenken @ Jun 15 2012, 10:19 PM)Im not all up her ass or anything. My girlfriend loves her and I have a lot of respect for her after that documentary I saw on her and found out she writes all the music on top of her great voice. Kind of like this song of hers. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xBcMKwbMEcQ Wow. I actually just listened to that song to see what this chick sounds like, as I have been hearing about her for a while now, but have never heard her music. I must say that your selection isn't changing any minds about her over here. This sounds like generic pop drivel IMO. I listen to all types of music including female singer songwriter type stuff, but this just isn't very interesting or listenable to me. I don't know how people keep talking about this Adele person like "oh my god she writes her own songs!" A lot of people write their own songs... *ahem*
  4. Cut, Farewell, Middletown, Enemy Within, Kid Gloves, Lessons (I know it's not happening but I can dream), By Tor, Different Strings, Weapon, Losing It, Totem, Open Secrets, Force 10, Prime Mover, Available Light, Chain Lightning, Sweet Miracle, The Big Wheel, Chemistry, and to be obvious Xanadu.
  5. QUOTE (AndroidOnTheRun @ Jun 15 2012, 03:07 AM)I really want them to play an April 1st show with this setlist: Tom Sawyer Here Again / What You're Doing / In the Mood Roll the Bones Freewill (w/o solo section) Chemistry Scars Dog Years Red Lenses Red Sector A Red Barchetta Red Tide Think I'm Going Bald *Intermish* Tom Sawyer YYZ (with new lyrics) Caravan BU2B BU2B2 Otaignarts Alliv Al (yeah, it's what you think it is) Drum Solo (china cymbals only) Rivendell The ones that aren't 2112 or Bangkok Didacts & Narpets Tai Shan *Encore Break* Working Man Tom Sawyer Working Man Or how about Feedback in its entirety! Maybe throw in You Bet Your Life, Madrigal, Take a Friend, Nobody's Hero, Time Stand Still with Alex singing Annie Mann's part, and the Pedlar I and II. Oh and Geddy singing Neurotica a capella because he loves the song so much. And instead of Neil's drum solo being china cymbals only, maybe it could be entirely big band played only on midi marimba.
  6. QUOTE (Czarcasm @ Jun 2 2012, 12:29 AM)Shame on everyone who voted Driven. That song is just generic mid 90's rock. The lyrics are some of Rush's worst. (Below Dog Years for sure) If they could pull Limbo off it would be incredible. It would give Geddy's voice a rest (aside from occasional wailing) and is a very underrated instrumental. Much better than Where's My Thing and tMMb IMO. I also don't understand why Driven is popular amongst Rush heads. It is very straightforward and is probably the "safest" song on the album. I will go on record as saying that every song aside from Driven on T4E pushed the boundaries of what Rush has done in the past. To clarify what I mean by this, I'm saying that Rush has always been a very intense hard rock band at its core, and most of the songs on T4E strayed as far away from being "in your face" as Rush can be, while still being very Rush. Anyways, to me Driven is a weak track because it doesn't go anywhere too interesting in terms of heaviness, progginess, or melodically IMHO. That being said, I still like it. I also agree that Limbo would be great live. It stays fresh sounding because it has this kind of spontaneous jam feel to it. Would be cool in a instrumental medley.
  7. QUOTE (RodrigoAltaf @ Jun 13 2012, 04:04 AM)Fingers crossed that Jannick does not ruin any of the solos on The Prisoner and Seventh Son. Both have stellar solos by Adrian, I hope Steve lets him do them on stage and not split with Jannick. Seriously, why did they let this guy stay in the band? No offense to him, but he is just dead weight. I think the three guitar attack was appropriate for Skynyrd, but it just doesn't do it for Maiden. I want to hear Adrian play Adrian's solos dammit!
  8. QUOTE (LeaveMyThingAlone @ Jun 13 2012, 03:02 PM)I bought 2...one to listen to and one to keep for my collection. So for those keeping score, yes I downloaded the MP3's but I have bought a total of 3 copies of CA....2 Vinyl and the CD...I hope that is ok? Props for supporting the Holy Triumvirate. I plan on doing the same. I got my CD but have yet to get the two vinyl copies. I better get on that.
  9. It took a long time, but I finally just got into Neurotica a couple of months ago. It is now one of my faves off of RTB. Not sure why Geddy hates Neurotica so much. He thinks the chorus is silly? Anyways, You Bet Your Life on the other hand, I don't want any part of. It's made worse by the fact that Rush has a tendency to have amazing songs as album closers, and this I would consider one of their weakest tracks ever. And as far as the Jack Black/Sebastian Bach topic goes, Jack Black is the real deal when it comes to knowing his shit about music, and Sebastian is just a rock n roll clown. Sure Bach misquotes the lyrics and cites the wrong book as inspiration for 2112, but he obviously is always on the . Bach entertains the shit out of me (aside from his music). His interviews make me laugh and he was in the Trailer Park Boys. Props.
  10. The instrumental break in the middle of the title track blows me away, especially when Alex busts into the solo ala Cut to the Chase. The new intro to BU2B makes the song that much better. I'm still not a fan of the repetitive chorus to Wish Them Well, but the rest of the song for me ranks with some of their best work. I especially love the Color of Right/Carve Away the Stone feel in the "thank your stars" part. Oh and the guitar solo jam in the middle is the super bad ass. On BU2B2 it doesn't sound like Geddy is straining his voice like in the rest of the album. In fact it seems like he is taking a whole different approach to his singing in this than he has sang for the past decade or so. He is not trying to extend every note to the end of the measure like he like always seems to do these days. The Garden (nuff said).
  11. I've waited this long, another week ain't gonna kill me.
  12. This thread can only be attributed to + , but nonetheless hilariously awesome. At least in my currently inebriated state.
  13. One cannot properly enjoy live music while in a seated position. Especially with Rush's music. No offense, but if you are to old and decrepit to stand at a show then stay home and buy the dvd, or buy a ticket for the handicap section. If someone in front of you is standing, then stand mothertrucker! Sure Rush plays long shows, but there is an intermission. You don't see Geddy and Alex complaining that they have to stand for three hours, and they have to do that every other day for months at a time. And they're pushin' 60!
  14. How about these.... Losing It (likelihood: not likely/ setlist placement: end of set 1) Pretty obvious why I'd want to hear it.... mindblowingly awesome. I think it would be great if Alex improvised a crazy delay-laden guitar solo in place of the violin solo. Different Strings (likelihood: way not likely/ setlist placement: Early set 2) This song is one of my favorites and it showcases Rush songwriting and production at its finest. Its one of their slower moments, but it never bores me. The band plays so tight with each member showcasing their subtlety. Neils work on the high hat with the crisp snare hits gets me every time. I think this would totally work live because its well within Ged's range, but you know its not gonna happen. Oh, and Al's guitar solo at the end ranks up there with some of his best work. If only they could extend it somehow... maybe by playing it live! Available Light (likelihood: not a frickin' chance/ setlist placement: NA) Just one of those amazingly emotional sounding songs that create a mood that no other song can. Great solo by Alex. Awesome chorus with the climactic high note "IN the available light", which would also be the reason why I think they would never play it. Anyways its an absolute stand-alone track that is vastly different from anything else they've ever done in their career. I would kill to experience this song live So you can see the trend I went with for my 3, which would be the production pieces that are severely unlikely to be performed live. There's a lot more badass songs that I would love to hear live, but I feel that these songs need more representation in threads like this one. Sorry if I wrote an entire essay. When it comes to Rush I can just go on forever.
  15. I would go apeshit if they played the Color of Right! Well I would go apeshit if they played anything from T4E, especially Color, Time and Motion, Totem, and the title track.
  16. Counterparts actually took me the longest to get into. And Vapor Trails. On first listen I liked maybe 3 of the songs on CP and now I love the whole album. With Vapor Trails I only liked Earthshine on first listen, and now I love a bunch of the songs...Still some on it that need more time though.
  17. 1 TMT 2011 shirt, gray with clock face (wearing it right now) 1 TMT 2010 shirt 1 SnA 2008 shirt 1 SnA 2007 shirt 1 Farewell to Kings tour replica shirt Definitely going to have a Clockwork Angles Tour shirt come November!
  18. I think they will go one of two routes, either a high energy song that they used to open with in the nineties like Force 10, Dreamline, and Animate, or just a Rush radio standard like Limelight, Tom Sawyer, or SoR. Personally I hope they open with Force 10. It kicks serious ass and I haven't seen 'em do it live yet. Although it would be nice to get Limelight out of the way early. Or Show Don't Tell would be a very pleasant surprise. Well, no matter what they open with, I'm sure there will be quite a lot of amazing old tunes in the set list that they haven't played live in a while.
  19. Making Memories Necromancer Lessons A Farewell to Kings Different Strings Losing It The Enemy Within Middletown Dreams Prime Mover Available Light Also would love to hear Take a Friend, Before and After, In the End, Beneath Between Behind, Lakeside Park, FOL, Twilight Zone, Cinderella Man, Chemistry, Kid Gloves, Lock and Key, Open Secrets, Chain Lightning, Red Tide, The Big Wheel, Heresy, Cut to the Chase, The Color of Right, Totem, Carve Away the Stone, Sweet Miracle, Bravest Face. Whew! Its good to get that out of my system. I know most of these are complete longshots but hey, a guy can dream. Also why does Lessons never get any love? Its completely badass! Alex kills it on this track with the heavy riffs and face melting guitar solo. Ok I am done rambling now.
