  2. QUOTE (Mara @ Aug 24 2009, 10:27 PM) QUOTE (1-0-0-1-0-0-1 @ Aug 24 2009, 11:20 PM) QUOTE (GhostGirl @ Aug 24 2009, 11:10 PM) This may have made my whole year... My son Kerry (LegoKid here on TRF) auditioned for the sixth grade band tonight. He wanted to do drums/percussion with all his being, but he knew there were only two spots left. The kids have to try all the instruments, so he made the rounds, saving percussion for last. He followed the band director doing drums on a practice pad, just going through some basic rhythms/techniques, then the guy just started a tempo and got Kerry to keep it going. After THAT, the guy kind of raised an eyebrow and began doing little drum fills, and saying, "Can you do THAT?" Kerry did every one, never missed a beat, looking the guy calmly in the eye the whole time, smiling like the coolest kid in the world. The guy grabbed Kerry's sheet, gave him a "10" (highest score), wrote "GREAT!" on there, and sent him to the school band director. When she saw he had given Kerry a 10, she said, "Kerry! If he gave you a 10, you GOTTA play drums! You're IN!" He said, "YES!" pumping his fist and his smile was so wide!!! It was SO much fun. We brought his snare/bells kit home with us tonight, and he is on top of the world. I'm so proud of him. Pics tomorrow! <----- Kerry (with his proud mom cheering him on)! This ROCKS! Way to go Kerry! Who said Rock Band can't inspire kids to play REAL instruments!* *Though being good at Rock Band/Guitar Hero drums is more easily translated to the real thing than the guitar and bass...IF you're good. Oh wow, YES! So cool! Bet you're about to burst with pride. Congrats to the LegoKid! I know he's going to have a lot of fun and satisfaction with it. That's great!
  3. Warehouse 13 It's a cute new little show on Syfy network. Like X-files.
  4. QUOTE (Jaye @ Aug 5 2009, 07:21 PM) Highlander! You know Jaye... There can only be one. I just thought, what would happen if they both cut each others head off at the same time?
  5. "John Madden : My Road to Canton" - NFL network
  6. QUOTE (Rush Cocky @ Aug 2 2009, 04:09 PM) Hmmmmmm.....not trying to be a thread killer, but if I'm WATCHING something else, how can I be reading and posting at TRF at the same time? You must be kidding! It's 2009. Who does one thing at a time anymore? Actually, i see what you mean, tho. It's just that with Ace Ventura you really don't need to know the plot to enjoy it. But really i'm usually watching TV while on the board. At least it's usually on anyway. edit : Star Trek Enterprise - episode : "Terra Nova"
  7. Seems like we had one. Searched it. No luck. Anyway, Ace Ventura : Call of Nature So funny.
  8. 8:30pm from the I-485 on-ramp : Westside, Charlotte, NC http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b141/Inthend_/007.jpg 11:00pm and it's 74, but the humidity's down.

Hey GG, Does Stephen understand the concept of the headphones? Does he know how to plug and unplug them? Yes, he does. And he never pointed to the h.phones or shook them? He just said 'box'? The story as written in the blog is exactly what happened. No, he never pointed to or indicated the headphones. This kind of thing is what makes it hard for people to understand how complex some kids with autism can be - his brain KNOWS the sound isn't coming out, but he can't make the connection to TELL someone. Thk you for making that clear. I find it interesting that he concentrated on the solution, instead of what was broke. I know it's it's hard GG, tho I know so little. Things will reveal themselves in time. I must believe that. I enjoy your blog; some of your writing is more than very good.
  10. Charlotte, NC Was very lightningie and loud and rainy, and freaking windy. And the power's out. And it's currently very quiet with far away rumblings. Two candles are burning. And that's all I have to say about that.
  11. Heard something on the radio that her 2mil. home took 4 days to clean with a huge crew. Said trash was everywhere. Rats all over the place. They think she's on meth or crack or something. Anybody heard this?

You just can't let me have anything, can you!

  18. QUOTE (goose @ Jun 4 2009, 08:40 PM) QUOTE (Inthend @ Jun 4 2009, 08:24 PM) Sad to hear. Kung Fu is one of the all-time greats. Interesting he was in Bangkok. It is beautiful there. Good posts goose. I'd never heard that about him. How someone who has so much can suffer from such depression is beyond me, and very sad. Your elephant, on the other hand, is very amusing. I can't stop watching it. Thanks. I just saw he was in Bangkok to make a movie. There are still conflicting accounts about his death.

  20. QUOTE (Alex @ May 20 2009, 09:10 PM)So...Someone rigged the vote or what? Over 100 million votes to find out. I would have liked to know how close it was. I would think pretty close. I only saw the las t half but a least I got to see Rockin' Rod. He bout tripped as he was grabbing for the mic. But it did look like someone had set a trap for him. The mic stand was right behind three recesses in the stage floor. God, what if he had fallen flat on his face! But I thought he did pretty good. As far as the winner, Kris was probably my 3rd or 4th favorite. Adam's definitely got a unique voice. But a voice I agree that belongs in a band. And agree he should tone down the screaminess. I'd like to hear him do something like Journey's more bluesy songs. The short red-colored hair girl that sounds like Pink I wish well. Alexia, I think? Of all the contestants, she seems very genuine and sweet natured. Very young to have such a quick rise to fame. She seems quite modest, and I hope she can say that way. And I know what some will say, but I think Megan (big bosomed blond but with no swiss accent ) has alot of promise. I hope she goes more towards folk and some bluegrass instead of country. AI found some pretty good talent. Oh, a thanks to PanaceaFish for the thread.
  21. QUOTE (rushgoober @ Apr 10 2009, 08:26 PM) QUOTE (Mara @ Apr 10 2009, 04:33 PM) QUOTE (rushgoober @ Apr 10 2009, 03:17 PM) I haven't seen a lot, but one of my favorite movies of all time is easily The Last Temptation of Christ. I hope this thread lasts and doesn't become too religious. Loved it. Remarkable film. And Peter Gabriel's soundtrack is a masterpiece. It is truly the best work he's ever done, IMO. A powerful and moving film IMHO. I saw "Temptation" once. Thought it was pretty good artistically. I'm trying to remember the lead who played Jesus. Can see his face, but can't remmember his name. If I recall the story right, it focused on the the things that Jesus gave up to fulfill his mission. Namely, a wife and child. The real temptation was not having a "normal life". Right? The visual of the little girl pulling the nails out was really powerful. She was suppose to be the devil? She was the temptation?
  22. Alexis Grace got sent home. I thought it should have been the country dude. I'm glad it wasn't Allision who was also in the bottom three. Btw, what's the name of the hot blond with the tatoo sleeve. She had a real bad flu this week, but you couldn't tell it. Dang, did you see that dress!
  23. Yeah, I saw most of the first season and had lost some interest towards the end. But caught the new episode last week and it got me re-hooked. Well produced show. Good acting, cool plot. Some very funny dark comedy at times.
