  1. This was a tough one. On one hand, I loved Presto at the Time Machine tour. I was waving my invisible magic wand every time Geddy sang those lyrics. I would say it is one of my favorite lesser known Rush songs. On the other hand, The Pass is the only Rush song that has evoked an emotional response for me. It is mainly due to the theme- but also the time period when the video was done. So I went with The Pass.

  3. I put Summertime Blues. It is fun. It is peppy. It has been covered by a lot of people. And it is the only one I was familiar with
  4. I have pet mice. I am a girl. I am not afraid of mice. I am that girl who has pet mice. I can imagine the women who like Rush to not be afraid of mice and perhaps have pet mice or rats as well.
  5. When you go around looking for examples of the number 2112!!!
  6. I put myself at the Casey Kasem level. I have been a Rush fan for several years now. I do have several of their songs and the Rush application on my iPod Touch. I have used Rush songs as examples in other message boards and websites. I enjoyed their Time Machine concert waaaaaaaay too much. I belt the songs very loud when they come on the radio. But my desert island band is still Queen.
  7. Back around 1990, there was a very annoying (and borderline creepy) commercial for Calvin Klein's Obsession. An old "Chock Full O'Nuts" commercial that had a talking coffee bean gave me the creeps as well. Basically, any commercial that engages in male bashing or mysogyny.

  9. I put YYZ. It is cool. It is about an airport. I love the Morse-coding. I hope next time there is Game Zone we can play it on Guitar Hero.
  10. When someone tells you that she is going to the Rush concert the day before her birthday, and you reply "Who?". Add points if the person describes Rush as "progressive rock band from Canada" and you still have no clue who they are.
  11. How do y'all find pics of these? Are they published for everyone online? Are you on the crew? Does Alex play the acoustic guitar on every tour? The acoustic intro to Closer to the Heart on the Time Machine tour was MAGNIFICENT.
  12. How many guitars and basses are taken on each tour? How about spare parts for the drum set? And keyboards? And anything else?
  13. I am no longer in school. For two different occassions in Halloween (related to my job as a librarian), I dressed up as two different intelligent and capable women- Artemis (the Greek goddess) and Luna Lovegood (from Harry Potter). When a female colleague asked me what I was doing for my birthday, I told her that I was going to see Rush in concert the day before. Unfortunately, she did not know who Rush were 1 of the 7- you need a Neil element in your outfit, perhaps a hat
  14. When you see the acronym GED and the first thing you think of is NOT the high school equivalency diploma (or whatever it is called).
  15. Freewill- Thomas Jefferson telling George III to get lost. Limelight- William Shakespeare on stage. Perhaps a lighted stage- lights do not need to be electric. Spirit of radio- a radio blasting with a speech bubble of some salesman trying to sell used cars. Xanadu- a pleasure dome somewhere in Asia Tom Sawyer- Tom and Huck with knapsacks heading down the road in search of adventures. Closer to the heart- the various people in the various professions mentioned. Red Barchetta- a picture of an actual red Barchetta (ok, so this one is pretty simple) Dog years- various canines (not just domestic dogs) Test for echo- a TV and one of those big cell phone towers Presto- Mandrake from Defenders of the Earth The Pass- the letters P.S.A. And so on...
  16. I like all 3 of them for different reasons. When it comes to physique, Alex was the cutest back when he was young, but at their present age I find Geddy more attractive. Possibly because I like lean men and kinda like curly hair.
  17. Librarian Yes, at a public library. Yes, working with kids and teens.
  18. You know you ARE a Rush fan when: You are on the road driving and Limelight starts playing on the radio. You crank the volume up, start singing at the top of your lungs, and air guitar whenever possible as well as air drumming the drum parts. When you reach your destination and Limelight is not over, you stay in your car singing, air guitaring, and air drumming till the song is over, not caring one bit about what onlookers may think. Yup, I did that two days ago
  19. NOOOOO!!! Do not skip Freewill! I checked the setlist of Time Machine ahead of time to make sure they would play it- otherwise I would not have gone. I do hope they play Xanadu. And The Trees, The Pass, and Bastille Day- but those are pipedreams. Xanadu is the one that I truly want to see the most.
  20. Awesome shots. And yes, you can easily tell Latin vs. Northern crowds apart- same in both sides of the pond.
  21. It was my first Rush concert EVER. One of the few bands I absolutely want to see in concert again as soon as possible. They had so much energy and charisma with the audience. I cannot wait till the next tour. Looks like they did an exceptionally good show in Tampa. Hopefully I will get a better seat next time.
  22. First and foremost, nobody will sound as good in a concert stage as he or she does in a studio. That, and Geddy hit all the notes well in the Tampa show. Even the highest ones in Freewill. No complaints from me here!
  23. You know you are a Rush fan when you want to fly into the Toronto Airport simply because it IS YYZ.
  24. I thought he was imitating the "invisible airwaves crackling with life"- the chatter of the salesmen and other people on radio. I watched a video of Rush performing Spirit of Radio back in the early 80s (I am assuming giving their hair and costumes)- and Geddy did exactly the same things at the same times.
