NFL Confidence Pool 2013

This amused me... :16ton:

Most quarterbacks parrot the same postgame quotes, week after week. They need to look at the film, and they are taking things one game at a time. Carson Palmer is different.

He doesn't mind looking ahead at the schedule, like most fans. And Palmer likes what he sees.

"We have a stretch of very winnable games coming up," Palmer said after Arizona's Thursday night loss to Seattle dropped the Cardinals to 3-4.

Just after Palmer said that, I started to bring up Arizona's schedule on my computer to see what teams he was talking about. But then Palmer saved me the trouble. He mentioned Atlanta, Houston and Jacksonville by name.

That's how far your season has fallen, Falcons and Texans fans. You now are getting publicly mentioned by Carson Palmer as a "winnable" game on the schedule.

That reminds me of another article I read recently:

Most participants in the Rush Forum 2013 NFL Confidence Pool make the same innocuous comments each and every week.

"I just try to take it one week at a time," says LABT.

"I have the talent; I just need to put it all together," says treeduck.

Last-place Cyclonus X-1 is another story.

"I may be floundering right now, but I'm facing a bunch of very beatable opponents," said the confident cellar dweller. "LABT? Ducky? The guy who never gets his picks in on time? I will crush them all."

Word is that those "beatable opponents" are now using the brash, perhaps foolhardy comments as bulletin-board material, causing all Cyclonus X-1 fans to do this:

So this is your reaction to the bad loss to the BIlls then?

Yep. The Bills suck. We suck worse. I couldn't even watch the sh!t that constituted today's "game".

3-13 or bust. We'd lose to the Jags at this point.

Good. Maybe we can get a 4th place schedule. So, is this Bridgewater kid any good? Are there any other NFL worthy QBs in college?

Hell, at this point I'd rather have Tebow than watch this turnover machine.

He's a bit skinny for an NFL player, 6'3" and about 190. I doubt any of this wave of QB's will light the world on fire.

That's OK. Maybe we could pick up a McCown. Or maybe the Browns think that Weeden is too old to be their QB of the future. If Ireland is still the GM, we could give up a first round pick for him, and it wouldn't matter. What the hell good is a first round pick when he's your GM?

On the bright side, the Fins' loss has probably won the competition for you this week. ;)

No fair. I thought the great Reggie Cobb still played for them.

That's OK, we all make cringeworthy picks. James Wilder will get it cranked up any week now.
