priest_of_syrinx
I'm both a band geek and a choir freak, and I actually listen to some choral music outside of choir. There are a few composers good enough to meet the standards of my iPod... a couple modern ones that come to mind are Eric Whitacre and Morten Lauridsen. Here's and For some Lauridsen, try . There has also been other great choral music throughout the centuries, like Brahms's , Handel's , and Haydn's Die Schopfung (The Creation) I dig. How about you guys? I love Barber's Adagio.... one of my favorite pieces of all time The choral arrangement just makes it that much better. Agnus Dei is a very fitting text for it. That "When I Fall In Love" arrangement reminds me a lot of I really like what you posted too, CT. A lot different from what I'm used to (especially their timbre), but very nice! I first heard a snippet of it in Lorenzo's Oil (very touching scene from a very touching movie btw, watched it in Bioethics class last term), and had to go find the whole thing. here's another Barber piece. I've played the piano part for this before, although i was accompanying a single soprano singer, not a SATB group. But it's still an extremely pretty piece regardless of arrangement. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XEKBpKTdxj8

I've always loved his Adagio for Strings (and now for choir), but I never really looked any further into Barber. Another very nice piece. One of my favorites to sing in choir is Last Words of David Frank Ticheli is another great contemporary composer for band and choir.
