Mara
This is fascinating. Even if they don't find the Higgs boson, I'm interested in what DOES happen. I just hope it doesn't turn out to be the scientific equivalent of Al Capone's vault.
Ancient Ways
I love when science makes outlandish statements such as this: "a mixture known as quark-gluon plasma, which last existed in the first millionth of a second after the big bang." Mara
QUOTE (Ancient Ways @ Sep 5 2008, 09:19 PM) I love when science makes outlandish statements such as this: "a mixture known as quark-gluon plasma, which last existed in the first millionth of a second after the big bang." the Compact Muon Solenoid detector team -and who wouldn't want to pitch for this team? I can't even pretend to understand any of this jargon, which is one reason I loved reading "A Brief History Of Time." Hawking did a pretty good job of putting big-bang theory and quantum physics into layman's terms.
