ladirushfan80 Posted July 2, 2008 Share Posted July 2, 2008 Over the weekend was the annual Jobbie Nooner party held @ Gull Island on Lake St Clair here in Michigan. just a little history behind this annual event: QUOTE JobbieNooner is a wild island party that is held on Lake St. Clair (near Detroit, Michigan) twice every summer. It was originated by a small group of automotive designers ("Jobbies") including Lee O'Dell who wanted to take co-worker, Lee Wagner, out for his birthday. They decided to blow out of work at lunchtime one Friday (i.e. "Pull a Nooner"), get together on their boats and have a good time. It started 2 decades ago with four boats and seventeen friends. It has grown into the biggest party of the summer with an estimated 1,000+ boats and nearly 5,000 people attending in recent years. It has been nicknamed the "Mardi Gras of the Midwest." so yeah.... that's where I was last Friday. Some of you may recall I went to this event last year. It is called the 'St Clair River Run' for me, or "us" because there were a group of us in boats all going & tying up together on friday, and then we attended another event on Saturday called The Black River Raft Off in Port Huron, which is a hop skip & a jump away from the Blue water Bridge that connects Michigan and Sarnia, Canada. ladirushfan80 Posted July 2, 2008 Author Share Posted July 2, 2008 well tick... if you went to the jobbie nooner website, that's pretty much how it's portrayed... pretty pornographic indeed. of course, WE never run into any of that kind of stuff... just not how us ladi's roll. but if you look for it, you'll find some pretty wild shit going on around other boats and especially on the island. we didn't go on the island this year because we had amber kay with us. she's only 17, and i think we corrupted her mind enough as it was just hanging around all of us!! seriously...
