Alex Lifeson Current Recording Rig in Guitar 1 Mag

I just bought the current issue of Guitar One (Guitar World Magazine) and it has Alex Lifeson featured on the front and an interview about the new album. In a couple of pics he's got his current rig with an H&K Zentera on top of a Roland JC120 and mounted on a stand in front is a device that looks like it may be a mixer or another processor of sorts. He doesn't mention any of it in the interview and was wondering what that device on the stand is and how he uses it. Perhaps it's no big deal but I'm curious since I have G.A.S. most of my waking time as a musician
