  1. So the NFL has an international marketing campaign which involves marketing certain teams to different countries. The San Francisco 49ers are one of the teams that they are marketing in Mexico and The Warning has struck some kind of marketing deal with the 49ers. They've been posting on Instagram pics of them in 49ers gear. Today they were at the local stadium in Monterrey with the teams mascot and a few other representatives joined them and The Warning was able to announce one of the teams draft picks live on ESPN.

I don't think it is their worst album but I certainly didn't love it. I forgot to mention it here.

It feels very...basic...which even at their worst is something I have never felt about MH before.

    Could be a grower.

I think this album is following the same story as the last one. The artwork is similar and the font they used for the song titles is the same. So perhaps Rob wanted to continue the story in a bit of a different way musically.

    Bruce Springsteen- Human Touch

Oh dear. I am hooked. Cross My Heart is such a forgotten gem. And Soul Driver too.

Have you given the new Machine Head album a listen? It's good but all the songs are pretty short by Machine Head standards. The album is only 41 minutes which is crazy short for them. The songs are enjoyable but there is definitely a different approach here that I'm not sure about. It sounds like them but all the songs seem to be written with the idea of any of them could be singles which is very much not like them.

    The Sword- Warp Riders

They should be as big as Mastodon, or at the very least Baroness.

Sabbath loving heavy metal that rises above its influences.

Baroness isn't that big. I would guess that The Sword is at about the same level. The Sword opened for Metallica on the Death Magnetic tour so I wouldn't be surprised if they were a little more well known than Baroness.

  5. Everything is ok in Warningville after they cancelled those shows in South America. Ale ended up getting vertigo and that's why the shows were cancelled. They're in Europe right now doing a short 4 city tour. They're pretty much doing a scaled down version of the shows in Mexico back in February.

I get the feeling between Simone's solo album and this one that the band themselves were restless for a change.

I am glad! I love them but Omega already felt like a band that had taken an aspect of their sound everywhere it could go.

The last Epica album to feel this experimental was Requiem For The Indifferent, which gets a lot of hate but I honestly love it.

I didn't know that Requiem got a lot of hate. One of my favorite albums from them along with The Holographic Principle and Design Your Universe.

  7. Love both new songs. I've been a fan since the first album. You could say that you were late getting into them but Impera is the album that made them more massive than ever. You're probably not the only one who didn't discover them until then. The dedicated metal audience was with them on the first 3 albums and since then the general rock/metal fan has gradually come to know them and get on board. The Grammy nomination for Cirice followed by them opening for Maiden in North America were the huge turning points for their popularity.

Really?! I ended up paying $40 for nosebleeds which is about what I paid for Rush 13 years ago. Tickets prices must have come down hard in the last few weeks leading up to the show

I wasn't looking for nosebleeds. I actually wanted to have tickets lower down so it actually felt like I was at a concert. Those ticket prices were right from Ticketmaster.

I saw them open for Disturbed last Friday! They were quite good. Great energy but I'll be damned I remembered anything beyond the energy they projected. My GF had them on in the car on the way back and I didn't even notice.

I did want to go to that show but I'm probably not going to go to any big arena or stadium shows until the ridiculous ticket prices go down. The tickets I was looking at were in the $130-$160 range. After fees we're talking over $200 bucks for a single ticket. I've been a fan of Disturbed since their first album but they are not a spend $200 on a ticket kind of band for me. I'm also skipping out on seeing Metallica in Syracuse next week with their $320 tickets. I mean come on. People shouldn't have to skip a car payment just to see a couple of shows. The pricing is absolutely out of hand. I have no problem going to see a band I like at a smaller/mid sized venue where the tickets are under $100 apiece.

So i am trying to get into more modern rock.

    Its a struggle...

...then today I discovered Nothing More who have shades of Coheed And Cambria, Thrice, 30 Seconds To Mars and other things I enjoy...all on their debut.

I won't lie, the band I suspected Sleep Token could become sound an awful lot like Nothing More!

How I never heard of these guys is insane to me. In 2009 I was all about this style, and I LOVE it!

They've had some good success over here. I know that they've had a few songs that have gone to number one on the mainstream rock charts. They're opening for Disturbed in the US right now. Nothing I've heard from them has ever stuck with me though. I know who they are but can't remember what any of their songs sound like.

I'm not a gigantic fan of Working Man, either -- or really anything from the first album -- but it certainly wouldn't make a worst of list for me.  Fly By Night did make my list, however.  I find it really cloying, especially the chorus.

I have never heard the word "cloying" in my life. I had to look that one up 😄

"Working Man"?  Are you . . . okay, my friend?

I think including Fly By Night and Limelight on this list is the much bigger concern.

If you had to put out a compilation of the worst of Rush, what would you select?

    My choices:

    1. Take A Friend

    2. Rivendell

    3. Didacts and Narpets

    4. Red Lenses

    5. Tai Shan

    6. Superconductor

    7. Chain Lightning

    8. Ghost of a Chance

    9. Nobody's Hero

    10. Dog Years

    "Bonus" Tracks:

    11. Not Fade Away

    12. I Think I'm Going Bald

    13. Second Nature

    14. Scars

    15. The Speed of Love

    16. Virtuality

Note of slight interest: Type O Negative put out a greatest hits comp called "The Least Worst of Type O Negative."

How are Chain Lightning and Ghost Of A Chance the worst of Rush?

If Alex were open to touring, yeah, he and Steven obviously know each other and EON would be a good fit on that tour.

If you didn't mention Alex, I would have had no clue what this thread was about. Is Stygian Waves a band? Zero info given in the opening post.

I remember about 6 or 7 years ago.  Tony....the singer.....re-wrote the lyrics to this song for i think a  laundry product, lol come to think of it's not tony at all.....a really good soundalike

It ran every hour, lol.  Anyway I love the album that this is from.  great like power pop record.

    Mick

I remembered this after I posted but I couldn't remember who the commercial campaign was for. I didn't even know the name of the band who did it until their singer died a few years ago. There are so many one hit wonders from the 80s that I don't have a clue who actually did the song.

Oh? I have a CD edition that came out a few short years back

I had the first four Bon Jovi albums on cassette when I was a kid. I didn't realize 7800 Fahrenheit would be a collectors item. I wonder if I still had it would someone pay me for it 😄
