How about HAKEN In 2025???
Seems about right since the last album was 2 years ago.

They played at Rock Am Ring in Germany today and had to deal with like 60mph winds. Pretty memorable show because of that

I'll just say for the record I don't like Ruby Tuesday or Mother's Little Helper, and I keep listening to them on various compilations etc, they're not getting any better though...
Why do you not like these two well loved songs?

Again I think the set at face value is an amazing set, even if putting Aces High towards the end of the show is a bullheadedly stupid move that only Steve Harris could've come up with. Getting Seventh Son, Powerslave, and Mariner in one shot is incredible. It just doesn't quite meet all the hype they gave in the press and such leading up to it in terms of how unique/rare the material would b, and the fact that they advertised "the first X albums" or whatever, but (predictably) omitted No Prayer for the Dying. Their definition of rare doesn't match the vocal fanbase on the internet, if they think a well-catalogued song like Mariner is rare, that's a far cry from something like Infinite Dreams. I honestly think their biggest hurdle is that they insist on playing no more than 2 hours, and they absolutely must play FotD and Iron Maiden, and they must NEVER play a song that wasn't covered in its original album tour - have to wonder how hard of a battle it was against Steve to break that rule and play Alexander the Great last tour. I get it, they're getting older, the production is massive and hard to deviate from, etc. but I hear the frustration.
Be nice if they quit playing Iron Maiden and Run To The Hills and mix it up a bit more. But Steve is gonna play his usual deck of cards.
They won't drop Iron Maiden because that's the song where they have always done the big Eddie reveal on stage. They have a screen this tour so I don't know if they still have a giant prop Eddie for that. Fear Of The Dark is too big of a crowd participation song and can't be dropped at this point. No matter what they replace it with, the song won't get the kind of audience involvement that Fear does. It would have been cool if something from No Prayer was played but given the fact that nothing from that album has been played in like 25-30 years, I think it's safe to say that the band doesn't look back on that album too fondly. Run To The Hills is their most well known song, as disappointing as that is. It's another song that really can't be dropped especially if it's a throwback tour. I know that they sometimes didn't play it when they were supporting a new album but the old school themed tours pretty much have to have it.

David Bowie-Let's Dance (8/10)
Ah the 80's. I just Picture david in a leisure suit snorting coke of a hooker's cheeks while recording this.......too much? lol
Anyway......i dig this.but it'd be the last one i'd really like till 2003 with Heathen. There'd be a track here and there on every album but no real winner. i'm a big Bowie fan but the late 80's and 90's is a dark period for me.
Mick
Am I the only one who thinks Modern Love would have made a great Phil Collins song? It's not a bad song but something feels off with Bowie doing it.

I find it hard to complain about a setlist that has Rue Morgue, Killers, Mariner and Seventh Son in it. I think overall they've provided a pretty good variety of songs to the fans rotating between nostalgia tours and ones supporting new music. Does any other band do that? These guys are pushing 70 and playing one of the longest headlining sets they've ever done. There's certain songs that can't be dropped at this point and the band knows that. I'm not sure what fans were expecting? Fans hyping up their own expectations too much is the real problem. That never matches what a band actually ends up doing.

It definitely changed radio forever as far as I'm concerned since I always change the channel whenever it comes on 😄
Seriously, what exactly do you mean by that?

Well if their bland or not is all opinion.......BUT i'lll tell you what. i'm tired of the thing that they changed it all and our saviors for all time. they just got in first.
and i always said i am often at odds with the public's opinion. this one REALLY baffles me.
but hey that was 30 something years ago. who really cares?
Mick
Alice In Chains was first actually when it came to the new hard rock boom of the 90s. Facelift came out in 1990, a year before Nirvana, Pearl Jam and Soundgarden hit it big. Man In The Box and Sea Of Sorrow were big hits and got regular rotation on MTV and radio. If AIC doesn't make it first, is anyone really paying attention to the Seattle scene? AIC's earl success brought eyes to other bands from that area who may have never gotten the attention. I've never bought the whole Nirvana was first because it's simply a fact that they were not.

Do i hate this? no. has it ever once exited me? not one damn time.
Out of all the acts to break the most bland one did. sorry not sorry.
Mick
I wouldn't call them bland. It's just that many other popular bands at the time, AIC, Soundgarden, Pearl Jam, STP, Smashing Pumpkins were much better.

I remember this show being available on pay per view. Since they are my dad's favorite band he ordered it and recorded it on VHS. We both wore that tape out watching the show together countless times. I was a fan before this show having grown up with my dad playing his Stones vinyls all the time. But this show pretty much cemented me as a fan for life.

Some of these songs I didn't even know were covers. A slight correction with Amnesty Is Granted. I wouldn't consider that a cover since Sammy Hagar wrote it. Meat Loaf recorded and released it before Sammy but he wrote the song. So he can't do a cover of a song that was already his.

All these live albums and best of albums seem like overkill but they're actually getting me more into albums I wasn't too keen on, like Some Girls and Emotional rescue and songs like Under My Thumb have grown on me a lot more too.
Wait, you weren't too keen on Some Girls? I don't think I've ever heard a Stones fan say that. Usually it's thought of as one of their better albums. I've never even heard of a lot of these compilations and live albums you're listening to. They were either not released until years later or might be exclusive to the UK.

So it took an almost 10 year old cover for you to realize that she's a great singer even though that's the one thing that she's always been praised for? Interesting way to discover that.

Definitely sounds like the original band

The opening track is literally Who's Crying Now minus the brilliance of Journey
I thought the chorus sounded more like Separate Ways.

So the NFL has an international marketing campaign which involves marketing certain teams to different countries. The San Francisco 49ers are one of the teams that they are marketing in Mexico and The Warning has struck some kind of marketing deal with the 49ers. They've been posting on Instagram pics of them in 49ers gear. Today they were at the local stadium in Monterrey with the teams mascot and a few other representatives joined them and The Warning was able to announce one of the teams draft picks live on ESPN.

I'm enjoying this album. Anyone else get a Separate Ways from Journey vibe during the chorus of Peacefield?

I don't think it is their worst album but I certainly didn't love it. I forgot to mention it here.
It feels very...basic...which even at their worst is something I have never felt about MH before.
Could be a grower.
I think this album is following the same story as the last one. The artwork is similar and the font they used for the song titles is the same. So perhaps Rob wanted to continue the story in a bit of a different way musically.

Bruce Springsteen- Human Touch
Oh dear. I am hooked. Cross My Heart is such a forgotten gem. And Soul Driver too.
Have you given the new Machine Head album a listen? It's good but all the songs are pretty short by Machine Head standards. The album is only 41 minutes which is crazy short for them. The songs are enjoyable but there is definitely a different approach here that I'm not sure about. It sounds like them but all the songs seem to be written with the idea of any of them could be singles which is very much not like them.

This is because of the venue setup not because of The Warning's sound guy. They don't even get soundchecks going on this early. The venue has all the mics turned up loud by default. Notice the difference with Pau's mic. We can barely hear her because the venue staff has no idea that she sings lead sometimes.
