  1. QUOTE (Bastille Night @ Sep 14 2012, 06:47 AM) A nice 6-cam edit of Carnies....kudos to Ray! http://youtu.be/Icv9Ncpl8F0 Very nice! I synched with the cd version and cranked it. Only had to adjust ever-so-slightly twice - other than that it matched up great!
  2. Most of the material on Clockwork Angels is far more complex than JL. That doesn't make it any less of a song, I'd LOVE to hear it live, but for those equating it to one of their harder songs to play - I don't think so. For whatever reason it just keeps getting passed up. 'It is what it is and whatever.'
  3. Thanks, Snaked and all the other reviews. That's good stuff. Getting psyched for St. Louis on Saturday!
  4. Cygnus X1 followed closely by Hemispheres
  5. Cygnus X-1 Hemispheres Jacob's Ladder (alternates) Xanadu Headlong Flight Seven Cities of Gold Bytor and the Snowdog 2112: Grand Finale Something for Nothing Freeze Time & Motion Carnies What You're Doing
  6. QUOTE (Alchemical @ Sep 15 2012, 10:33 PM) JUST three? 1. Jacob's Ladder 2. Natural Science 3. Headlong Flight My upcoming show in October will only be my third. I wasn't much into Rush yet in 2008 when I saw them on the S&A tour. Can't even remember them playing Natural Science. This needs to go into the 'Terrible Terrible Terrible' thread (not remembering Natural Science in S&A).

I was forced to drink A Miller Lite @ a college football game last Saturday because nothing else was available...and broke out in HIVES!! No crap! Now THAT's terrible - on two counts! My college didn't serve beer at the games Which is better than having to drink Miller Lite. Life's too short to drink shit beer. You get to live in Vancouver, Washington....I dislike you. (green with envy) Well, our Springs are pretty much non -existent and Summer gets around to showing up about the middle of July (if we're lucky....really!) and both those facts suck big time. I lived in SoCal for 13 years and Spring arrives in mid-Feb. and Summer in early May and I loved it. Rains way too much here too. On the other hand, we don't have humidity, we don't have to deal with much snow but can still drive a half hour up into the mountains if we want it (and plenty of it usually), get to enjoy year around green beauty as a result of all that rain and maybe most importantly, have some of the best freakin' coffee and some of the best freakin' beer on the planet around pretty much every corner in both Washington and Oregon. I love that area. Beautiful! Amazing hiking out the wazoo - all season. I know you're probably tired of it, but just Falls Road is stunning to an 'outsider'. The smartest people live in 'Portland North' and take full advantage of the tax situation in both states. Kuddos! BTW, Full Sail may be the most impressive microbrew (like they're really microbrew anymore) tour I've ever taken - along with New Belgium in Ft Collins, CO. That being said, Bridgeport has yet to make a beer I don't like. Hop Czar is king! Cheers!!

  13. QUOTE (Thunder Bay Rush @ Sep 12 2012, 06:02 PM) So, are you telling me that I just asked a dude to come live with in Canada? Holy shit... Yes! Now, who's the blonde?
  14. QUOTE (treeduck @ Sep 12 2012, 03:53 PM) It's quite clear you're asking for Armor & Sword and/or Carnies and a Milton Banana-rant from Alex on all setlists. Who's the blonde?

Songs that they have actually played quite a bit on various tours but they aren't considered the hits or classics. Songs like Red Sector A, Big Money, Force Ten, Dreamline. I'm not sure why they're playing those 4 songs. They've been played a bunch and it's not like they get the casual fans charged up. Look at what a few simple changes would do to it Limelight Subdivisions Freewill Grand Designs The Body Electric/Middletown Dreams Territories The Analog Kid Bravado/The Pass Where's My Thing? Far Cry Caravan Clockwork Angels The Anarchist Carnies Seven Cities of Gold The Wreckers Headlong Flight Halo Effect The Garden Manhattan Project/Dreamline YYZ 2112 (Overture/Temples of Syrinx/Grand Finale) The Spirit of Radio La Villa Strangiato Tom Sawyer Just added Limelight, La Villa, and Freewill and took out Big Money, Force Ten, and Red Sector A...3 songs they have played a ton. I think these 3 simple changes would make everyone happy Looks good but you forgot a (full) Xanadu. Its a crime that they refuse to play that song, one of their all time greatest - and one geddy can surely still sing, btw. I'm sure they are holding all their big guns for the R40 Tour. They knew that mostly the hard core fans were the ones going to this tour since they just relased Clockwork Angels and they are touring with a string section. I'm sure we'll get Xanadu, Hemisphere's (Prelude), Cygnux X-1, Natural Science, y-Tor and The Snow Dog, La Villa Strangiatto, Red Barchetta, Freewill, and many others during their next Mega-hits tour which will probably be R40 in 2014. for now just watch R30 if you can't appreciate the CA Tour for all its brilliance. I can promise you Rush isn't sitting around talking about an R40 tour and what they should save for it. It's not their style to look that ahead There will be NO R40.....that has, and always will be a fan creation! Take in this tour while you can! Hermy, I will bve taking in the tour on Novermber 3rd but I'm also hoping for this in 2014: Set 1: R40 Instrumedley: (Working Man/Fly By Night/ Beneath Between and Behind/ No-One at The Bridge/ Something For Nothing/ A Farewell to Kings) Tom Sawyer Caravan Test For Echo Kid Gloves Cut to the Chase Jacobs Ladder Mal-Nar Far Cry Freewill Natural Science Set 2: Limelight Clockwork Angels The Anarchist Red Barchetta The Camera Eye Open Secrets Vapor Trails Cold Fire New World Man Distant Early Warnings Headlong Flight YYZ/ drum Solo Alex's Solo/ The Trees Xanadu (Entire) 2112 Overture/ Temples/ Finale Encore: Subdivsions La Villa Strangiatto Closer to the Heart (Extended) 2nd Encore: A Farewell to Fans Instrumedley: (Finding My Way, Anthem, By-Tor and The Snowdog, The Necromancer, Bastile Day, A Passage to Bangkok, Cygnus X-1, Hemispheres (Prelude) The Spirit of Radio You are delirious with hope. It's almost catching. Almost. Nice to dream, isn't it?
  16. QUOTE (vital signz @ Sep 12 2012, 12:16 PM) God I can't believe they are dropping 7COG! I would far prefer it to WTW... I want to see all three but I would gladly take Carnies and 7COG over WTW. If you were at last night's show - you would've heard both 7CoG and Carnies! Hopefully that'll happen in St. Louis and/or Dallas for me. But yes, WTW is much weaker than 7CoG or Carnies, imo. That Carnies background video and pyro looks awesome.

Glad to see you have hope for those non-regular epics of the "past", because I don't. And why is that? During T4E Tour they gave us: 2112 (Entire) & Natural Science During Vapor Trails they gave us: Natural Science, La Villa Strangiatto, Cygnus X-1, By-Tor and the Snowdog and Working Man During R30 they handed us: La Villa Strangiatto, Xanadu, By -tor and the Snowdog and Working Man During Snakes and Arrows tour we got: Nartural Science and a Passage to Bangkok During The Time Machine Tour we saw: The Camera Eye, La Villa Strangiatto and Working Man And During Clockwork Angels we got: Working Man I think they are working there way up to and all Epics tour for R40. Sorry "I can't stop thinking Big"! I am 'Faithless'. We may...MAY...see a Xanadu thrown into a setlist or may...MAY...see a JL thrown in, and that would be great, but more than that....I just don't see it at this point. Hemispheres, Cygnus X1, Bytor, The Necromancer (I know I'm totally unrealistic with this one) NS (which was AWESOME in S&A) are all gone. Bye-bye. Trust me - I REALLY want to come back on here at some point in the future and post a 'losingit2K' was right and I was WRONG...hallelujah' thread. Nothing would make me happier...well, nothng the terms of concerts anyway. Thing is - I am one of those that will take whatever I can get and CA is a pretty damn good get even if I get a leftover YYZ and Working Man along with it!
  18. Geddy and Neil could team up and do something like this - from my 2nd favorite band with three members and four letters.
  19. QUOTE (Alchemical @ Sep 12 2012, 09:09 AM) QUOTE (losingit2k @ Sep 11 2012, 10:10 PM) Now this is a solo: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5omFFeLEXFE I raise you...RANDOM YOUTUBE BASSIST! Seriously, this guy is friggin amazing. WOW! I don't think this guy listen's to the 'you can't do that on a bass guitar' talk. Just wow! Impressive!!
  20. With all the talk from the band about having so much music available that a 4-5 hour setlist, although not going to happen, is doable and with the few nightly change ups we've seen already...and with this leg of the tour being so 80s heavy on the front end, does anyone think there is a possibility that the front end (first set) gets totally overhauled in favor of a more 'balls to the wall' setlist for the 3rd leg (to include parts of U.S. again) of the tour? Assuming, of course, there is going to be a 3rd leg - which I think is a fairly highly probability. Just a thought for discussion.

  22. BTW Katey, welcome to TRF! I read your post on Facebook regarding this and although I can't add any help to what's already been posted - I have to say you are a heart-warming inspiration. You may think yourself lucky to have such a dad, but I'm willing to bet he feels 10X that towards his daughter. Awesome! I am wishing you hopeful success in your endeavour to pull this thing off. You've made my day!!
  23. QUOTE (vital signz @ Sep 12 2012, 06:33 AM) This board is filled with fans that like any and everything that the band does. I think that there are legions of fans out there that love the band and are critical of the band. That being said, I have close relationships with several 30 year plus fans that are baffled at the set list. Will we forfeit our tix and our trip to see them? Hell no. Are we amazed that we are seeing the Clockwork Angels/Power Windows Redux tour? Absolutely. I can totally relate to what the OP is trying to say. When you go see a band of Rush's caliber touring after a new album you expect to see them play bunches of songs off of the new album and one or two off of other albums and the big hits off of Permanent Waves, and Moving Pictures. Since they just finished the Moving Pictures Re-Tour, it makes sense to go lightly on that. But on the 30th anniversary of Signals, one doesn't expect the band to skip totally 10 albums (except 2112 on B set encore and Reggae Working Man which has been played to death) and see 5 songs from Power Windows and leave off songs that would have made a perfect strings tour like Losing It, Chemistry, the Chorus on Analog Kid, Countdown, ....wait am I suggesting songs celebrating the 30th of Signals???? also Jacobs Ladder...hinted by Alex now for the last three tours, also perfect with strings, nowhere to be seen. SO....all of that being said, go ahead and flame away but the truth is, there are lots of folks scratching their heads here. And for 25% of folks on a poll here not excited about the new set, a place where a lot of fan bois and gals hang out, in the real world there will be many more. Those who buy tickets out there to see them rock on tour the likes of Freewill, Natural Science, 2112, Xanadu, The Trees, The Spirit of Radio, Limelight, Red Barchetta, will be stumped. I will be there because I am always there. I would go see them bang sticks and bricks together. I know it will be a blast, but it seems weirdly thought out. In this decade, the simple fact that we have these guys to see at all after nearly 40 years, we really need to be happy with anything that they put out, but we can ask questions and comments regarding their choices. Not a 'good post' - a GREAT post! You nailed PERFECTLY what myself and other Rush fans in my sphere are saying. Well done!!
