  1. Just got Tarja Turunen's (ex-Nightwish) album My Winter Storm tonight. Lets just say it's meh and be over with it.
  2. Chris (to girl @ vets office): You have to help my dog! He's in really bad shape (after he beats Brian with a chair so he can see said girl). Brian: f**k you. ----------- Peter: I have a few truths to say to the fellow men in the audience. It's your fault there's so much crime in this country, and it's your fault there's so much violence in this country! You are ruining our society and you should be ashamed!

  8. Very The Long Halloween-ish there. I approve!
  9. QUOTE (ReRushed @ May 4 2008, 11:32 AM) I said it before and I'll say it again, I have read or seen NOTHING about this movie that disappoints me. Well, maybe the casting of Maggie Gyllenhaal. The best description I've read yet is that she looks like a "sad cartoon turtle". Yeah but something happens to her in the film that you're probably gonna like
  10. QUOTE (Jack Aubrey @ Apr 26 2008, 12:39 PM) QUOTE (ReRushed @ Apr 25 2008, 05:12 PM) I'm lovin' it! The countdown begins... http://www.whysoserious.com/itsallpartoftheplan/ Very cool! Good find, ReR! Speaking of, am I the only one who's getting calls from Lieutenant James Gordon and Harvey Dent, or did some of you folks sign up, too? Nope, you're not the only one

  15. Said it before and I'll say it again... This will be the best movie of 2008. Bar none.
  16. For those of you who have Ghost Opera, the band has released the latest video from the album. Finally, they filmed one for Rule the World (the best song off the album, imo). And though it's a good 6 months away; who's going to any of their shows later this year during the US tour?
  17. QUOTE (ifloveremains @ Apr 14 2008, 05:27 PM) Oh, I'm sure arranging transportation wouldn't be a huge issue, my mom's just really overprotective. Maybe in a couple of years she'll let me go off to see a show somewhere. Then drag her along with you
  18. QUOTE (ifloveremains @ Apr 14 2008, 02:06 PM) I finally picked up DPP, and I'm only four minutes into Poet and the Pendulum and I'm already in love. No way I'd be able to make it to London though (and wouldn't be 19 anyway, as I'm assuming it's restricted?). Either way my mom wouldn't let me, so I just have to wait until they come back here someday. Told you As for the Lonton, ONT gig. No age restriction. Plus there's gonna be a car pool from Toronto (or so I'm assuming), so you'll have a ride covered Hell, I might be bringing a guy I work with with me to the show.
  19. QUOTE (rickyrob @ Apr 13 2008, 06:29 AM) I was amazed at how tight the band are when playing. I am also amazed that the band, now been in existence for over a decade, hasn't hit it off more and become one of the World's best bands. Nightwish, along with other various metal bands such as Kamelot, DragonForce (yuk), Symphony X, and Within Temptation, are starting to really get more exposure. The music industry is again changing, and it looks like metal is slowly creeping up into the mainstream more and more. Nightwish is huge in Europe. Hell, in Finland (their home country), the president had to release a public statement about her thoughts on the firing of Tarja a couple years ago when it happened. Fortunately for Nightwish, the European market is much easier to break into for metal bands. And the fanbase there is much more loyal too. They aren't worried about which bands are the latest trend to listen to like people are here in the US. Another thing that benefits Europe is the countries are smaller, therefore, most of them are easier for people to travel to for concerts and you can fit more shows into an area. In the US, the markets are spread out over a very large area, therefore making it harder for many bands to be able to go on tour throughout the whole country. On top of that, in the US you have the music industry which practically selects and chooses which bands are going to receive airplay due to how much time and money they invest in that band to promote it. Luckily, due to the surge of the internet, many of the bands who this wouldn't have been possible for (like Nightwish) are capitalizing on that to gain a larger fanbase.
  20. Ah f**k it. Those of you going to see Nightwish in London, Ontario, I'll see you there.
  21. QUOTE (ifloveremains @ Apr 4 2008, 06:09 PM) Oooh, I love Nightwish. Annette's pretty impressive, and so is the new album. I like the old stuff with Tarja but it's nice to see that the new vocalist isn't trying to emulate her voice too much, because it just wouldn't be the same. How was Annette with the old material? Really friggin good. When I saw them last year, right after "Sleeping Sun" she had most of of the crowd saying "Tarja who?" The thing that I like about Annette is that she has a voice that you can really write around. With Tarja, it was more straightforward and at times, it seemed to be limiting as to what the band could and couldn't do with the music so her voice could compliment it. OH and I had the opportunity to interview Tuomas Holopainen back in October. You can read that here. And it's a little late, but here's my review of Dark Passion Play: Link BTW, those of you who are seeing Nightwish on this tour; you're gonna love it! The Poet and the Pendulum completely rules live.
  22. QUOTE (RobertMason @ Dec 27 2007, 04:53 PM) These guys are absolutely, terribly, awful. So are Rush according to some other opinions. Anyway, huge Coheed fan here.
  23. QUOTE (Jack Aubrey @ Apr 5 2008, 01:00 PM) QUOTE (syrinxpriest 2112 @ Apr 5 2008, 12:59 PM) QUOTE (The Owl @ Apr 3 2008, 10:31 AM) Don't Kill me, but I still have not seen Batman Begins yet. I would like to, but have not gotten around to it. Though Ledger's Joker looks alot better than Nicholson's http://adiamondinsunlight.files.wordpress.com/2007/03/464px-joker-ritz.jpg Watch your mouth, son. You will hear from countless comic-book purists (and I'd count myself among them since I grew up reading all of the different Batman titles and have recently purchased several Batman graphic novels) that Nicholson came nowhere near close to capturing the true essence of The Joker. In other words he pretty much sucked. So did the five-foot-nothing-doughy-jawlined Michael Keaton. Well said. Mark my words. Ledger (RIP) will leave us saying "Jack who?" http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v392/kazzman/thejokerattacksmg6.png
