  1. QUOTE (Gilbertk @ Sep 9 2012, 02:31 PM) Some of the people around here won't be happy until it's: ---Set 1 The Spirit of Radio Freewill Jacob's Ladder Entre Nous Different Strings Natural Science By-Tor and the Snow Dog Fly By Night In the End Anthm ---Set 2 Bastille Day I Think I'm Going Bald Lakeside Park The Necromancer (ok.. this would make me mighty happy too) The Fountain of Lamneth A Farewell to Kings Xanadu Closer to the Heart Cinderella Man Madrigal Cygnus X-1 Hemispheres ---Encore 2112 (Full) That includes the full albums of PW, CoS and AFtK, and people would still complain that they played TSoR which they'll say they play too much.. Some people will never be happy... Edit: Just saying, this set is just at 3 hours. Knock out maybe Madrigal and Closer to the Heart and also forget about a drum solo and this would be possible set (depending on Geddy's ability to sing this) Ok, I'll go with that.
  2. QUOTE (Snaked @ Sep 9 2012, 01:59 PM) Too many songs that have been done recently.. unlike the real setlist which has a LOT of songs that haven't been played in a 20 years or more. How you figure? Jacobs Ladder, Xanadu, Hemisphere's. They haven't been played in years. Ok, lets remove Tom Sawyer, lmao.
  3. QUOTE (WCFIELDS @ Sep 8 2012, 10:11 PM) QUOTE (Todem @ Sep 8 2012, 08:52 PM) IF someone is not a fan of any album post Power Windows....what the f**k are you doing here. Really? I mean really? 'They have recorded what 8 albums since. Move on. The Set List is fanfuckingtastic. As a 42 year old Rush fan who grew up during the roaring 80's golden age of Rush....this is an amazing setlist. Couple the first set with the brilliant Clockwork Angels......EPIC tour. Can't wait for November 3rd. And of course the Blue Ray of this awesome ode to the 80's period of Rush. CA has so much 80's musings with a few hints of some 70's Rush....it makes perfect sense. I am thrilled they dropped a ton of staples. The Hold Your Fire Tour was very similar. Lot's of their newer stuff back in that period sprinkled in with a few classics. Quite frankly ever since the CP tour we have been blessed with unreal setlists. f**k all the haters. Sell your tickets and stay home. (not pointing the finger at the OP at all btw) LMFAO. Some so called Rush fans are real morons. I mean really man.....get over yourselves. This band at this stage of their career and what they bring night in night out.....f***ing unreal. I am so sick and tired of seeing whining little bitches.....oh well why did they not play this or that...or this. They have over 170 freaking songs people. They have to enjoy what they play night in and night out as well. They only have room for 25-28 tunes. Get over it. People's opinions bother you that much eh? wow..... I've seen these types on every forum and they always turn out to be the loners who have virtually no life at all other than attacking people from the safety of an online forum. He'll be at the concert either alone or with two or three of the dorkiest looking bastards you ever saw, lmao.

Not that I owe the likes of you an explanation, I'll do it anyway just to show what an immature clown you sound like; 1) This is a Rush forum. Rush is my favorite band and they just began a world tour. Wtf do you think I'm doing here?? 2) Whether I'm a fan of their last 8 albums or not, is irrelevant to the fact that they are still my favorite live band. 3) Move on to where? I already accept that their best album years are behind them. Doesn't change the fact that I want to see them live. 4) the setlist is fuckingtastic to you. Thats an opinion, not a fact. 5) I'm glad you love the 80's stuff. I do to (just wish they would have kept Marathon). But, as a 51 year old who grew up in the 70's, this setlist is unfanfuckingtastic to me and since this is a thread about one fans disappointment, on a Rush forum, I have the right to voice my opinion which is every bit as valid as your opinion not too mention every other Rush fans opinion. 6) Fck the haters?? People voice disappointment with a setlist and that makes them haters?? You must be a hoot in the political forums, lmao. I hate to break it to you Skeeter, as far as I can tell, you're the only whining bitch on this forum. Dozens of music fans having civil discussions about their favorite band and you have a problem with those who don't agree with your opinion. You say your 42 but you come off as a 12 year old bully who kicks and screams when he/she doesn't get their way. Sorry you don't like my opinion. I suggest you get over it because I'm not going anywhere. Yes, some so-called Rush fans really are morons. Couldn't agree more.
  5. I'm a "hard core" Rush fan and I do NOT think these are songs for the hard core fan. You want hard core? Jacobs Ladder, Xanadu, Hemispheres, 2112 complete, By Tor, Natural Science, A Farewell to Kings, La Villa Strangiato, need I go on??
  6. Two cents from a Rush fan/fanatic of 35 years. I've been fortunate to have seen Rush on 12 different tours. While I understand the boys must highlight their new music, I'm not a big fan of any album post "Power Windows". Sure, each album has some great tunes but not a one imo is strong from top to bottom like their older albums (again, PW and pre PW) therefore, with the exception of a few tunes (Headlong is my favorite from CA) my wife (her first show was Hemispheres tour) and I just don't get into the new stuff like we did in the old days of Rush. The first set was interesting enough but I think Big Money would have been a better and more energized opener than Subdivisions, a great song from Signals but one I am tired of. The two highlights for me from the last tour were Camera Eye and Marathon, my favorite song from the Grace/ Power era. Thought they would at least do Marathon again. Still, love hearing Territories and Manhattan Project. Bravado blows, imo. As expected, the 2nd set was top heavy with CA numbers which appear to come off well based on what I have seen on Youtube. Again, too many new numbers for my liking but that would have been a moot point if they would have just played Xanadu, Jacobs Ladder or perhaps partial Hemispheres, instead of the tired and worn out Working Man and Tom Sawyer. Watching the tunes on Youtube my first thought is, maybe a drop-off in quality and song selection from what we have grown accustomed to. I dunno. I do admit that on their worst night playing their worst stuff, they are still miles better than more popular acts like Springsteen and U2 to name a mere few. Its just, the bar is set so high, my wife and I have come to expect the absolute best from Rush and though we weren't at the show, what I see on Youtube appears to me that they are not up to standard. This is just one, well two persons opinions. Not saying I'm right and someone who loves this show is wrong. Its a subjective thing to a degree. Doubt we're going to see them this time around but hopefully they'll do something special for their 40th anniversary maybe along the lines of the 2000 Yes Masterworks tour. Wouldn't that be something.
  7. QUOTE (DBJetsman @ Sep 8 2012, 10:48 AM) Where's my Thing is awesome! I'm excited to hear that one. I'm still confused why they're playing 4 songs from such a mediocre album (PoW) and they're not playing Marathon. I hope they play the leaked setlist since there were 6 songs I would've loved to hear from it.... You should ad bad ass Rush (George St. Pierre) to your good Rush/bad Rush. Just sayin.
  8. QUOTE (Dscrapre @ Sep 7 2012, 10:26 PM) Set 1 Subdivisions The Big Money Force 10 Grand Designs The Body Electric Territories Analog Kid Bravado Where's My Thing Far Cry Intermission Set 2 Caravan Clockwork Angels The Anarchist Carnies The Wreckers Headlong Flight Wish Them Well The Garden Manhatten Project Red Sector A YYZ Working Man Encore Tom Sawyer The Spirit of Radio I'm sorry, but for my own personal enjoyment, this setlist pretty much blows. No 70s, No 90s, No VT, Very little representation of Permanent Waves. NO VARIETY! I think the worst part of all of this is the lack of Limelight. I know that it's over-played and I personally never listen to it, but it's a classic that everybody knows and is definitely one of those unifying concert experiences that I feel this list is almost completely devoid of. I totally agree with you and it would also appear we have the same three three favorite bands. Nice.
  9. As a rabid Rush fan since the late 70's, overall, I'm disappointed. Yes, some great earlier songs that will be fun to see/hear live but I'm not that into new Rush music (Power Windows was the last great Rush album for me) and I'm totally sick and tired of standbys like Tom Sawyer and Working Man so the thought of all these new songs being played in lieu of amazing possibilities has me feeling a bit discomforted. Maybe a "Yes" style masterworks tour for the 40th anniversary. That would be the bees knees. Thanks to the folks who posted the setlists. Nice job. Nice forum. Happy trails.
  10. QUOTE (Shreddy Lee @ Sep 7 2012, 09:47 PM) Can someone explain to me how and why Jacob's Ladder became the holy grail for so many people to have on the setlist? I mean, I think it's a fine song, but why so much focus on it? Even since last tour, and probably before? If you've ever witnessed it live, you would know why.
  11. QUOTE (Todem @ Sep 7 2012, 09:17 PM) Amazing set list thus far. Simply amazing. This is for the hard core fans people. "hard core" is in the eyes of the beholder.
  12. It would take Jacobs Ladder, Xanadu and something else along those lines to save this setlist for me. But that's just me.
  13. I consider myself a diehard fan. This is a far cry (no pun intended) from my dream setlist.
  14. In 2000, Yes played a tour for the old school fans. Every song was at least 25 years old or older. I know its a pipe dream but for me, a similar tour from Rush would be the musical dream of my life. Anyone else here on board with a Rush show of songs that pre-date "Hold Your Fire"?
  15. Honestly, is it possible to have a setlist that ALL on this forum would approve of?? I say, not a chance.
  16. Wonder when the first Youtube clip will hit the airways?? I can't wait to see and hear these tunes.
  17. QUOTE (dtpoet @ Sep 7 2012, 07:57 PM) Just listing some possibilities for a 3rd "70's" set Limelight YYZ JL Overture Temples CTTH Losing It (we were "promised") Another solo Trees Working Man Xanadu That would be a killer set for us "old time fans" though I've really tired of "Working Man".
  18. QUOTE (Alchemical @ Sep 7 2012, 07:53 PM) QUOTE (zac2112 @ Sep 7 2012, 07:49 PM) this set list blows so far, the synth stuff mostly sucks, a couple other songs ok. meh Get out!! I think "Territories" and "Where's my Thing" save this first set just as "Marathon" saved last years set. The second set will make or break this setlist.
