I was amazed by the description of the main character's relation to food as it perfectly depicts my food philosophy. Finally something I can relate to, foodwise, in literature! Splendid storytelling as well.

I'm glad you're enjoying it but I thought it was a dud when I read it years ago. I think it won the Booker prize iirc.

I'll re-read it & see if my opinion has changed.
