1. That's so awesome. Thank you for sharing that, and congrats!
2. QUOTE (presto123 @ Jun 13 2012, 08:36 PM) Neil is in too deep with DW to switch now but IMO all the records he has recorded with DW drums don't compare sonically with his past kits. He will never switch at this point though. I miss the excitement of those Ludwig drums. Totally agree. Loved the Ludwigs. But the point you bring up about Neil being in too deep with DW... That bothers me. I know in the past neither of these guys felt comfortable doing endorsement deals. Now look what they have done. I hate the fact that Alex has (or had) his name bound to a contract with Gibson. I guess its all about the money.
3. QUOTE (hunter @ Jun 13 2012, 04:48 PM) Interesting notion but I only see it happening with a different producer. True that. I guess one thing might be is that I sort of miss any simplicity that they use to have recorded. 1974-76 they sounded like a 3 or 4 man band. 1977-1982 they sounded like they were a 5 man band. 1984-1996 they sounded like they were an 8 man band. 2002-present they sound like they're a 20 man band. At least to my ears. Rush is toooo complicated nowdays, too much noise and overdubs. Maybe that's just my taste. I still love it nonetheless though.
4. Gotta say I love the new album first. Another amazing brilliant piece of work as always. All the songs are so stuck in my head. Now I just want to see what people think about the instruments they use to record with. To me, Rush has always been about change and it's always exciting to wonder how each next album is going to sound overall - meaning the tone of the guitars and Alex's effects. I'm certainly not knocking any of their choices for equipment. Geddy Lee's Fender Jazz has been around for so long it's become his trademark sound. Alex has been using Gibson for awhile now too, and Hughes and Kettner Amps. The tones are awesome, it's totally Rush. I guess what I'm trying to say that in the 70's and 80's, 90's too each album had an overall different sound. To me, Clockwork Angels sounds so much like Snakes and Arrows. Vapor Trails might be thrown into that mix too. It's like they keep using the same near settings, equipment, etc to record with on the last few albums. I read an interview back somewhere that Alex mentioned that he's used his TC electronics effects (chorus, etc.) for years now. I for one would love to see a big change in the overall sound of the next album. Different amps, different guitars and effects brands... Geddy's voice can stay though. Rush has always been about change and experimenting, I would like to see them challenge themselves on what they can get something else to sound like. Anyone else think the same thing or am I nuts?
5. QUOTE (GeminiRising79 @ Jan 19 2012, 08:51 AM)
Oh, the HORROR! My god, someone get him a drink and a sedative, because the stress of having to read... Leave. Seriously. Go back to where you went last time you disappeared. You're a troll, and not even a particularly good one. Nobody is forcing you to read TRF, nobody is forcing you to put up with us members who like their stuff post-Moving Pictures. So, get the fk out. You have no reason to stay here, and by doing so, you only prove with each post that you are a troll and that you're only here to sow discontent and discord. I know this is a personal shot and if the mods want to put me in time out for it (after Gemini reads it, preferably) then so be it. Someone has to talk straight to this douchebag. I'm not the only one sick of his crap.
I agree. Please leave. Why hang around here if it's known that most people don't like you? With you, it's the same old BS. You keep bringing this crap up over and over. Do you know what beating a dead horse is? We don't like you because it's plain obvious that your goal is to stir up the shit. You will deny it, but everyone knows this. It's obvious and plain as day. Seek some troll counseling. You're giving yourself away too easy. Go check out the Van Halen boards if you haven't already. I'm sure you can get things rolling your way if you start the Roth/Hagar thing. And don't come back.
6. Either you're a troll, or the underlying cause of your grief is the fact that Peart is an atheist. Deal with it.
7. QUOTE (mrbarlint @ Jul 15 2011, 07:16 PM) Very true, the 355's have been selling relatively high, only 300 made. I'm sure that the signed AL Les Pauls will keep their value as well (only 50 total). I'm curious to see what they will go for if anyone decides to ever sell one. Mine is an unsigned Viceroy Brown. It truly is a fantastic playing, sounding and versatile guitar. Not too bad looking either! I picked this up to be played and be my new #1 gigging axe. My Howard Roberts will finally get some well needed rest. Hey Ron, have you heard anything about all the signed ones being all gone? I'm wondering if they still have any left that are brand new.
8. Definitely not for the people who don't have much to spend. But... My pockets aren't that deep, but I don't have a problem buying an expensive guitar like this. I like to think of these things as an investment. I'm thinking the value of these shouldn't decrease that much in the near future. And sometime in the future I'm thinking these will go up in value. I've already seen AL 355's sell on Ebay for more than what the original pricetag was! I'm just wondering how much in value the actual signed Alex Les Pauls will increase in value. What do you think?
9. http://i728.photobucket.com/albums/ww289/shepwhite2112/IMAG0027.jpg I also have a genuine certified platinum album from the Canadian Recording Industry for Hold Your Fire
10. I will trade the wine for a new Lifeson Les Paul Axcess!
11. The story is these were given to Rush in the late 80's by a concert promoter (now deceased) by the name Bill Graham. I don't think these were ever sold. The guy I got it from says he believes it to be probably the only one in existence. He said Alex Lifeson gave it to him as a gift, and that Neil and Geddy drank all of theirs.

13. QUOTE (fonzbear2000 @ Dec 10 2010, 06:23 PM) http://www.therushforum.com/index.php?showtopic=61709 http://www.therushforum.com/index.php?showtopic=61441 http://www.therushforum.com/index.php?showtopic=61427 Can we PLEASE stop with the threads complaining about ticket prices? Can you please get off your computer instead of complaining about repetitive threads? I do believe people have a right to post and talk here. Just because you don't like it doesn't mean everyone else has to comply with your wishes. It's not like anyone is forcing you to read this stuff. STFU
14. QUOTE (jacob's ladder @ Dec 9 2010, 08:34 PM) Before I get flamed, let me just lay out some facts. Rush is my favourite band & probably always will be. But these ticket prices are absolutely out of control. For instance, I live near NYC & I am particular about seating when I go to concerts, so if I was to attend the MSG concert in April it would be- $200 per tix $25 train ride $0 for cab , I'd walk from GCS $20 for beer at the garden (hey I don't make these prices!!!) $10 random food Grand total- $255 bucks. Granted, this is a low estimate, as I would no doubt encounter more charges along the way. Who the hell can afford this??? Yeah thank the f***ing scalpers and everyone else like ticketmaster (probably other people too) that leach all this money off of Rush's sales. I wouldn't blame you at all for not going. I know I won't be going, but I'd like to.
15. QUOTE (rummut71 @ Dec 3 2010, 08:09 PM) The industry could be sacked... But there is too much $, kickback $, etc. at stake for it to ever happen. Some bands have taken measures to combat. Can you or someone elaborate on this? Who gets the kickbacks, etc? Since this is Rush's show, shouldn't they be the ones first to decide how the tickets will be sold?
16. QUOTE (rummut71 @ Dec 3 2010, 05:02 PM) QUOTE (SignatureAurora75 @ Dec 2 2010, 10:53 PM) People understand you cannot stop the scalpers. If there was a way to stop them, then you can bet Rush would not be charging so much for tickets. Sure you can!! There is a way. A very simple one. Tickets must be picked up at box office with CC matching the one used for purchase and a photo ID matching the CC. Bang. Scalpers over. Too much secondary $$$$ at stake though. That's too bad, because there's the solution typed out right there for you. This one is free, but next time you owe me... Ya know, I agree with you on that idea. I have wondered about the same thing before, and why it's not done. That would be great because it would also cut out all of ticketmasters bullshit fees. Can someone give an answer why they don't just sell them at the box office before the show? It really would cut out the scalpers. I hear there are plenty of artists pissed off about scalpers. I think I read an article just the other day about Kid Rock whining and crying about them.
17. QUOTE (FoxxiStarr @ Dec 3 2010, 09:13 AM) QUOTE (RushNut @ Dec 3 2010, 01:59 PM) Wow..you can really feel the "compassion" for those that are less fortunate than others and maybe cannot afford it. I have compassion for those folks who can't afford it, I just can't be assed reading the same stuff in multiple threads Here's a solution: Stop reading the damn threads. Then we wouldn't have to hear your bitching.
18. How can anyone fault Rush for setting higher ticket prices? If they set them lower, they'd be cutting their own throats. Why would they want to set them low to start with, when some dumbass scalper is just going to get ahold of them and re-sell them for a profit? People understand you cannot stop the scalpers. If there was a way to stop them, then you can bet Rush would not be charging so much for tickets.
19. They're not scalpers. They know what the tickets will sell for. I think that by having high set prices right from the start, they're actually trying to weed out the scalpers from buying the tickets. I'm sure that if Rush could keep their ticket sales low for the people somehow someway they would do it. Blame the dumbasses who buy them from the real scalpers.
20. I just want to say good job. Keep up the good fight. I am glad you are keeping this up and have the courage not to just let it go. This whole scalping business has gotten way out of hand... I have been disgusted for years about the whole business. And, it seems now it has been taken further into new levels by selling duplicate seats and telling people they have to double up. I would love it if Rush would do what Bob Dylan has done. He has refused to sell tickets until the night of the show. People come to the venue, and buy their ticket right there on the spot. That cuts the scalpers completely out of the picture.
21. I have a feeling this guy is going to be exposed as a scammer. I wonder if the cops can get involved? Call one of your local TV news channels. I don't know if they do reports on scammers like this in your town. Here, they do this all the time on the news. This sounds like just the perfect story they would cover.
22. QUOTE (DigitalMan85 @ Sep 28 2009, 07:07 AM) I'd love to see you post a video with just you and the guitar with no music in the back, especially if you could demo some clean sounds like from the Hold Your Fire and Presto stuff. Do you have any effects you run with it too? I think that the multi-voice choruses Alex was using has something to do with that clean "chime." Check out my Hemispheres video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ob3_-gV7aqQ Listen to the end when I play The Sphere... Is that the sound you're looking for? That pickup I have in the Aurora sounds very chimey and wirey in the clean mode. Also, check out my Time Stand Still Video, see which pickup you like better. That one I'm using an Evans E-2 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s3f2jv-ohYE Thanks for the nice comments, the next song I do I'll do with my red Signature Odyssey.
23. Hey congratulations! I think I'm a Gallien Krueger man for life, just for all the reasons you stated above. How do you think of the overall sound? With either of your guitars, does it sound similar to the ASOH sound? Strangely enough, an Evans E-2 went up for sale on ebay... http://cgi.ebay.com/Evans-Humbucker-Guitar...id=p3286.c0.m14 This E-2 is a thing of beauty, you get an option of a kick ass sounding humbucker, then wire it up to a push-pull pot and you can turn it into a single coil. That will get you your ASOH sound even closer. I've posted a video of myself covering Tom Sawyer on youtube... Here I am using the stock Signature Aurora pickups (Fernandes active single coils ) which I believe are the same pickup as the EMG S series.. through my GK2000cpl Let me know what you think of the sound! You can let me know if I suck at guitar too... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ps9FyORaDzQ
24. I just scored an Odyssey yesterday. This one is serial #936 which would make it about the 11th Signature ever made. I've got it tore apart now, doing some cleaning and shining up. Red, with gold hardware, just like the one in the catalog. I'll post some pics when I get er all back together! Anyone know the chap who created that Signature tribute site? It seems like it's been forever since he updated it. I've tried to email him, but my emails always get returned. I hope he is OK wherever he is....
25. For KlanKaos don't fret! Unbelievably another 2000cpl just went up for sale on Ebay.
