  1. Didn't think the show was all too funny when it came out. It sorta grew on me a bit. The movie was pretty good. If Mike Judge actually does this he will be the biggest hypocrite on the planet after the huge deal he made over squashing it in the first place. He distanced himself from that thing in seconds flat for King of the Hill? That show sucks. I wrote Adult Swim no less than 30 hate mails the second it became one of their "go-tos" in rotation. You know what's funny about a hick selling propaine? Nothing at all.
  2. QUOTE (chrislangone @ Jul 11 2010, 11:07 AM)Thanks to the admins and forum members for the civility in the discourse. I'm getting a lot of flames and "hate" email from reports of the lawsuit in other forums. I know some people just don't like lawsuits, which is fine - but I "feel"...... This conversation's over.....
  3. QUOTE (1-0-0-1-0-0-1 @ Jun 22 2010, 02:39 PM) I'm thinking I won't be the only guy who visits this thread. You wax weekly. Don't even try to lie about it.....

  6. Boys I'm tellin' you: My singer can hit notes inaudible to humans and the only song that gives him a hard time is Cygnus X-1. The rest are tough - don't get me wrong. But just from first hand experience with a really good singer that is the hardest hands down. We play every other song mentioned as well.....
  7. QUOTE (moedrabowsky @ Jun 21 2010, 01:11 PM) Cygnus X-1 "Every nerve is torn apart...." Your winner...
  8. QUOTE (1-0-0-1-0-0-1 @ May 24 2010, 06:03 PM)QUOTE (ChroniclesOfRush @ May 24 2010, 06:24 PM)QUOTE (1-0-0-1-0-0-1 @ May 24 2010, 04:02 PM)QUOTE (ChroniclesOfRush @ May 24 2010, 01:49 PM) May I? "Hemispheres (Prelude)", but you left a note out: |---------------------------------------------| |---------------------------------------------| |----------2---------------------1-----------| |--------2-------2----0-----2--------------| |--4--5------0----4-----2------------------| |------------------------------------4---0---| EDIT: Oops, I think Tarky's tab was next. If that's the case, ignore this one, I guess. I actually thought that E was in there somewhere but the thing I struggled with learning it was that if the intro is on the & of 4 (or 7) and the phrase is in 7/4 (could be 4/4+3/4 who really knows) and the only A in the phrase is a full quarter note it doesn't leave any room in the progression for that E and the rest seem to be just 8th notes (until the Aflat E of course). If that makes any sense. I'll give it a whirl..... Remember, the first note of that phrase starts in the previous measure. It makes more sense once you see it properly notated (as opposed to just tabbed out with no time sigs or note durations). http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v318/1001001/guitar_tabs/hemispherespreluderiff.jpg So we are clear on how I count things out I use the 1-E-&-A method: Verbalise this as you tap your foot to any tempo - 1&2&3&4&5&6&7&. It should sound like 1 and 2 and 3 and so on. The numbers represent the downbeat and the upbeat is represented by the "&" when dealing with 8th notes. In the case of 16th notes each beat can be represented by 1E&A using the same convention as above. So when I said the phrase begins on the "& of 7" that meant the upbeat on the 7th beat of the measure perfectly represented by the sheet music you posted (I prefer that to anything else really, tab especially). Now with all that out of the way what I really meant by the "ghost note E" was there are so many layers in that recording it seems the "A" is a full quarter note and it seemed the "E" was sort of a ghost note. Also - this just might be me being a retard - adding that "E" to the progression make some intonation problems going from a full 5th A --> E then following up with a chromatic C# --> D. In any event this song is one greasey bitch but very fun to play...not just Prelude.

  14. QUOTE (1-0-0-1-0-0-1 @ May 7 2010, 11:45 AM)QUOTE (ChroniclesOfRush @ May 7 2010, 12:19 PM) Whoever said that Every Rose Has Its Thorn is the best song every written is a complete moron. The music of that day has been a thorn in the side of serious musicians since its inception. The person who said that in this thread was being completely sarcastic. I really do hope so man. But from the local music scene here in Chicago you would think that to be true. On any given Friday/Saturday evening anywhere here in Chicagoland that song is being puked out by at least 30 cover bands taking great opportunities away from real musicians all in the name of "feeding fat chicks booze and chicken tenders". You guys want to see some real music come on out to Time Out West this evening. Rest assured as long as blood still boils through my veins (and the hair is still at least to my ass) you will have a representation of what a real band looks like and more to the point why that 80's Hair Metal bullshit needs to be jammed back up the ass it came from. I think the armband says it all: http://chroniclesofrush.com/gallery/14/1.png P.S. Tesla was an awesome rock band. I still go out to see them whenever they come to Chicago.
  15. As a card carrying member of the 80's metal scene I have to agree that it got as campy and ridiculous as any genre of music could possibly get before imploding in on itself. Whoever said that Every Rose Has Its Thorn is the best song every written is a complete moron. The music of that day has been a thorn in the side of serious musicians since its inception. To this day working bands such as mine - who are drop dead serious musicians - have to compete in the local marketplace with every hack "80s Cover Band" that oddly enough all play the same bullshit music as the other. As every single one of those bands "musical centerpiece" is....wait for it....Every Rose Has Its Thorn. Some very good bands came out of that area and RATT was one of them. Warren DiMartini was one of the best of them. I have to disagree that Cinderella is a bad band as well. Campy and "hairy" but songs like Somebody Save Me still are awesome rockers to this day. Moving into the 90's all I have to say - being a true rock-n-roll guy as opposed to what was considered "metal" in that time period...which it wasn't - a band like Pearl Jam was a breath of fresh air. I still remember hearing 10 for the first time and literally saying out loud in my car "MY GOD ROCK'S NOT DEAD!" My wish is that all that crap music made by bands like Poison (the worst band ever whos only claim to fame is making a mockery of the music of the time) would just f**k off and die already so we can bring back "real music". Go ahead and ask any single player in any of those bands to play a song like Cygnus X-1 Book II Hemispheres and what the halarity ensue. I'm a pretty boy from back in the day but I'll be God Damned if I can't play that song front to back on my 80's Charvel.....solos and all. I'll go with "Grunge" if its all the same to you guys.....rock-n-roll folks.
  16. Rick's constant nervous laughter is way grating. But the show is surprisingly easy to sit through. Some cool stuff. The quizes piss me off a bit because they always show the answers coming out of commercial. And I mean who isn't flipping over to the Science Channel during those dumbass HC commercials right?
  17. Robert Downey Jr. ain't got shite on this guy. At least his mugshot shows he's got a sense of humor about it all? Ummmm.....
  18. QUOTE (metaldad @ Dec 15 2009, 11:51 AM)Kiss is not getting into the rock and roll hall of shame this year, Abba is . HAHAHA WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOWWWWW! Who woulda thunk the RRHF didn't have a a clue on what rock-n-roll is? Stunning development or: We report you decide....
  19. QUOTE (The Rush Kid @ Nov 6 2009, 09:49 AM)the fountain of lamneth! Totally. Can't get No One at the Bridge out of my head.... Crying back to consciousness, the coldness grips my skin. The sky is pitching violently, drawn by shrieking winds. Seaspray blurs my vision, waves roll by so fast. Save my ship of freedom, I'm lashed helpless to the mast.... I lied about not knowing a bit of lyrics. I know at least that much. FFS that is such a great song. Can't wait to debut it on 11/21......
  20. Signals hands down. For me at least....
  21. I have been re-naming RUSH songs for years but not like this E.G.: Entre Nous = Entre Douche Working Man = Working Punk Tom Sawyer = "That Diane Sawyer Song" (copped from TPBs) Freewill = Freepills I can go on for days.... Playing this stuff for all these years (and being heavily influenced by Wierd Al) you just have to find something to keep it fresh and fun(ny).
  22. I have to say - considering the majority of the choices in the poll are very played out - Malignant Narcissism.
  23. Camera Eye hands down. The entire album is just awesome. But that song is still the best to play out. People just love it.

It's funny-- even when I've had a really bad day at work, when I'm driving home and put on some Judas Priest or Prong, I get this expression: yep. no matter what mood i am in, i slap on some metal and all is well with the world Agreed, and no matter what mood I'm in, Country music will always piss me off. Oooohhh copy that tower! PanterA always blows my skirt up and makes me smile....then choke out cats. Either way it's good. All good.
