What did the zero say to the eight?
"Nice belt".

Schroedinger was driving down the highway and was going a little too fast so he gets pulled over. As the officer approaches he asks: "did you know you had a dead cat in your back seat?" Schroedinger says: "I do now".

My wife says I don't give her enough privacy.
At least that's what it says in her diary.

I just returned from a class where we were teaching winter survival stuff to college aviation students - a two month long annual affair.
After shelter building and discussing how they will be outside and cutting down trees and such, the next topic was signals.
They need to learn how to signal to aircraft to improve rescue times and shorten the time spent waiting for said rescues.
I introduced the next topic of signals - different types of sound, reflective, ground signal fires, etc.
I said "so the next topic is signals."
..."Not only is Signals a great Rush album, we need to know the basics of..."
There were a couple of chuckles, but most are too young to understand. Talking to them in groups outside, I always mention Rush as an icebreaker - more and more, it's "My dad is (this or that)" but not the students.
Sigh. But I loved that I could sneak that in to get a sense of musical tastes!
Brother, that is beyond outstanding!! How'd you get involved in the survival gig?

By the way, even tho we named him Baxley, we have decided his nickname is Butter bean. Don't ask me why, it just kind of happened! :D He answers to both now.
Also, he has learned sit, shake hands, and rings a bell that hangs from the doorknob on the back door when he needs to go outside. We also recently found out that the two most prominent breeds in his lineage are German Shepherd and Rottweiler in spite of the fact he most resembles an Australian Shepherd!

Have you heard? They're not making 12 inch rulers any longer.
I asked my wife when her birthday was & she said March first. So I walked around the block & asked her again.
My wife told me to put ketchup on the grocery list. Now I can't read it at all.
Do they allow loud laughingt in Hawaii, or just a low hah?

Here you go. First up are my 2 newest knives sporting lanyards, next is a keychain lanyard I tied for my niece Gabrielle just yesterday and last are a couple of bracelets with the black & tan one tied in thinner 325 cord (as opposed to the traditional 550 cord) and folks love that bullet toggle. The other bracelet is tied from 550 cord a sports a cobra buckle that folks also love.

For about the last 15 years, I've been supplementing my income by tying para cord bracelets & selling them thru the local Milsurp store. I was wondering if anyone else was into tying bracelets or lanyards or wrapping knife handles or what-have you. Also, if you happen to be interested in getting started in this great hobby, I can recommend the best place to buy para cord and can also recommend some good books on the subject. Give me a little while & I'll post some pics of a few of my creations.

We've had numerous rescues over the years. Still have a TNR girl who hangs out in our yard. She has a kitty cave with heated pad and right now she's enjoying it a lot. We brought her brother inside years ago but she is more skittish so we make sure she is warm and well fed.
Congrats on your new puppy, so cute!
Thank you!

He's a handsome boy! I love that he's a rescue. Shelters are a great place to get animals, I think.
Agreed 100%! I also love that mutts have far fewer medical problems than purebreds.

Ok, let's see if I can do this right:
In the top pic, he looks a little bedraggled because he's had a bath.

Hi Friends,
For those of us who celebrate this Holiday, what's y'all's status on shopping. I haven't started; I've got nephews at 19, 17, 14 & the youngest at 5; and his baby sister at 1.
When we had Toys 'r' Us, I'd take the 3 older ones on a $100 each shopping spree. It was so cool; they'd each grab a cart & roll.
Now, pretty much cash/gift cards.
With the two little ones, a different toy store; and probably Walmart.
Y'all know, what a RUSH of a feeling.
I did all of my shopping online. They can keep those "Christmas Rush" crowds! I just no longer feel like dealing with those.

(This was actually two weeks ago, but the day-making continues.) We got a new dog! He's a rescue and the vet's best guess is he's part Border Collie. We had his DNA sampled as it's part of his health plan anyway and we'll get the results in a few weeks. He's a smart little dude, that's for sure and has only had 3 "accidents" so he's catching on to house-breaking really well and he's also learned "sit" so now we're working on lay down and a come here command. He was skinny when we got him, just 15 pounds & you could see his ribs & pelvis so we're getting him up to a healthy weight. Finally, we named him Baxley, after the town in Ga. where my wife's family hails from. Funny story on that, by the way. They immigrated from up North about 150 years ago were trying to get to Alabama but wound up settling in Baxley and the reason listed in the official record? They got tired! I don'tknow why, but that's always made me laugh. I'll try to post pics of the new mutt butt soon.

I have a town tree that will reach my house in the next year or two. I've been struggling with them for years to get the thing pruned by they keep dragging their feet and I've had it with them. I took matters into my own hands, literally.
Here are my tools, all from AMAZON.
1. Kids rocket with rubber band launcher
2. Fishing line ( 40 lbs strength )
3. Chainsaw blade on a rope.
I tied the fishing line on the back of the rocket.
Shot the rocket over the branch I wanted down.
Tied the chainsaw blade rope to the fishing line and pulled it over the branch.
Saw, saw and saw.
No more branch.
F U town.
OUTSTANDING!!! I salute and admire your problem-solving abilities. I love all of the mavericks and badasses who simply roll up their sleeves and get it done, whatever "it" may be! Never lose your edge and be sure to teach as many as you can how to think outside the box in order to solve a problem. You done good, Buddy!

I still slip into and out of the forum at least once a month but I'm working on trying to be here more and post more but in the meantime (I've always thought that would be a cool title for a Rush song and/or album but sadly those days are over) say howdy to everyone. Things are good 'round here. We just got the kitchen floors done in a type of pergo flooring that looks like wood and the walls are not whit shiplap. We're in the process of having our ceilings "de-popcorned" and they look a million times better so I very highly recommend having it done. The main bathroom and kitchen have been done so next is the living room, hall, frog, and sunroom.
My neighbors had tree in their yard and a coupla months ago we had a nasty thunderstorm with 40-mile winds and the tree basically split in half and fell into our yard. Thank God Almighty that all we suffered was very minor cosmetic damage, a few of our siding pieces suffered a scratch or to but that was it! The guy who removed the tree told us that it was a Bradford pear and Bradford pear trees are bred to grow tall fast, but the bigger they get, the weaker they become and thus more subject to breakage so he very strongly recommended that if you have a Bradford pear in your yard, have it removed ASAP! A few weeks after we had another storm and my best friend had a big chunk of his neighbor's Bradford pear land in his yard but it was in the front yard so no harm done, Thank God Almighty once again!
I am having pretty severe back and leg pain currently and I'm praying hard that I won't end up needing surgery number four but this is the same type of pain I've had when I blew out that other disc 3 times, but on the right side now. I'll keep y'all apprised should I have to go under the damn knife again.
I've also recently joined a local wargaming club and I am having so much fun with those guys! They're all 30- and 20-somethings so I'm the old man, but the guys are an extended family and treat me the same, so I love all those kids! :D
That's enough of me rambling, y'all have a great day!
