I can't quote posts as I'm on a tablet so to IlSnowdog, no, they didn't fly that much during Iraq. Of course, they have several different areas of airspace where they practice so they may have been flying further away from me than they were the other day.
To Jarg: I love, love, love your nuke comment and will be sharing it far and wide. Thank you.
Are you using the mobile skin on your tablet? The Quote button isn't visible at first, but if you tap on a blank area of the post you want to quote, you'll see that button appear at the bottom. And if it's your own post, tapping it also reveals the Edit button.
Or, you could just use a normal skin on a tablet (phones are kinda small to use with the regular skins).
Cool! That works a treat! Thanks, me Bruddah! :D

I recently got the best book! It's the sequel to the movie The Adventures Of Buckaroo Banzai Across The Eighth Dimension and is entitled: Buckaroo Banzai: Against The World Crime League, Et Al. A Compendium OF Evils. The best part is that it's written by E. M. Rauch, the same guy who wrote the original script and the only thing cooler than that is that this 620 page weighty tome is just the first chapter and will be continued in: Buckaroo Banzai, Emperor Of Earth! I haven't had so much fun with a book in a long while!
Fun fact: E. M. Rauch also wrote the screenplay for Big Trouble In Little China and in the proposed Buckaroo Banzai sequel, he wanted to have Jack Burton show up as a Blue Blazer Irregular! He hasn't shown up in the book yet (I'm only on page 207), but I'm hoping he will!
My next book is: A Kind Of Magic: Making The Original Highlander by Jonathan Melville. I also recently picked up a used (only $2!!!) copy of Philip Jose' Farmer's biography of Doc Savage, whose books I loved as a kid so that's next in the queue.

I live near a very big air base and I've been hearing the jets flying training patterns since day before yesterday, about 3-4 times a day and that is unprecedented in my 38 years of living here. As far as the nuclear talk goes, my best estimate for that scenario is, at best, 50-50. My best advice is: trust your instincts. If it makes you feel better to go and buy a pallet of toilet paper and water, then go do it. Anything to give you peace of mind and help you think more clearly. Call loved ones, play with your kids and pets, take your wife out for dinner & dancing, go for a walk in a nice park, and always pray.

Why does it seem that everyone is convinced it's a "reboot" which, in my mind, indicates they would be "re-hashing old material with new actors"? I'm fairly sure it will be all-new stories which just happen to take place in the same universe.

I once read an article in which the author said Neil's drumming style was "robotic, lacking any feel or humanity".

Dune. It was okay, I'd give it 3 out of 5 stars.

Well, I went on the Etsy a few months back and bought a PVC Mongolian horseman's bow (works great) and a dozen arrows. I got my lawn guy to bring me some hay bales and I got an amazing deal on Craig'slist for one of those cube-shaped targets: $5, brand-new condition!! I've been having a ball and building my arm strength back up in the process! Wanna shoot? Come on over!

Well, crap. The abovementioned piccolo snare is NOT working out. I've tried everything but I can't get the snare to engage the drum to save my life! I took off the snare and removed the clear plastic straps used to attach it to the drum and replaced them with some bank line (stout nylon cord) so I could pull harder on it before tightening it down but it hasn't made a dime's worth of difference! I'm think I'll take it to the range and use it for a target!

LA Story, my favorite Steve Martin movie. Haven't seen it in years.

Well, I just pulled the trigger on an el cheapo piccolo snare on Ebay because I've been wanting to try one for a while now. To be continued...
Also, I bought a couple of bronze finger cymbals and took a piece of para cord and attached one at either end then I took them and put them on my crash/ride so they sit flat and they add some beautiful texture to the sound of the cymbal. I strongly urge all drummers to try this trick, I think you'll genuinely love it.
One last thing: I bought a bicycle horn on Amazon and mounted it on my Doumbek stand because why not? :D :D :D

Recently I sat down and watched this gem and it just charmed my socks off! It stars the great Tim Blake Nelson in the title role and Jacob Batalon (Peter's best friend Ned from the latest Spider-Man movies) as Kevin AKA Sancho. It's currently showing for free on Roku, Peacock, Tubi, IMDB, and Vudu. This movie was actually filmed on a shoestring budget, but it doesn't at all look like it. Look it up and watch it! You'll both thank me and make me a sandwich! :D

Small suggestion: Get you a pair of the nylon brushes made by Meinl and play your congas and doumbek with them. You will love the sound, guaranteed!I'm not sure what happened, I'll bet it's because I'm posting from a tablet, but anyway the above was meant to be a response to Blue J's post on page 2.

Really looking forward to this and I sure hope they find a way to bring back Marcus Cole!
"We live for The One, we die for The One!"
At the one and only sci-fi convention I ever attended, Jason Carter was the featured guest. When it was mine and my wife's turn in the autograph line, I asked he list my wife's name first. He asked: "you're married?" and I said yes and then he said: "I hear you" and not only did he list her name first, he also wrote 'Love is truth'. How cool is that?

RIP to one of the very best. "Who needs a punchline when you've got a word like crackwhore??!!" That will always be one of the funniest things I've ever heard!

And it's one of the best decisions I've made in a while. It's much cheaper than cable and I delighted to have to contend with far fewer commercials! If you're on the fence about this, go get one. You will love it.

I finally cut the cord & got a Roku. I signed up for HBO Max & am now halfway thru the Snyder Cut & I have to say I'm enjoying it a lot better than that awful mess Joss Whedon made when he got his filthy paws on it.
Definitely recommended.
