  1. QUOTE (Jack Aubrey @ Feb 5 2005, 11:23 AM) I know I haven't said anything in this thread and I hope that that hasn't bothered anyone. I think the online movie parties are a great idea, but I wouldn't be able to participate since my computer and my tv are in separate rooms. You guys have fun, though and I will be there in spirit. It hasn't bothered us at all Jack, though you have to know we'd love to see ya here! No DVD drive in the computer, I take it?
  2. QUOTE (Sark @ Feb 5 2005, 10:44 AM) Make sure to rewind the tape recorder while you're up there!
  3. TONIGHT'S THE NIGHT! TONIGHT'S THE NIGHT! TONIGHT'S THE NIGHT! (Actually, a punch line from an old joke...) See you all tonight! I can''t wait!!!
  4. QUOTE (debe @ Feb 5 2005, 07:21 AM) What a wonderful actor, I loved his voice, it was so warm and mellow. Oh yea, waht a voice! And a truely great character actor. He will be missed!
  5. Well, I have for a long time been suffering from a species of brain injury which I incurred during the rigours of childbirth, and I'd like to conclude by putting my finger up my nose.
  6. QUOTE (Sark @ Feb 4 2005, 02:10 PM) I just want to say that this thread has shown a distinct tendency to become silly. Now, no one likes a good laugh more than I do, except perhaps my wife, and some of her friends. Oh yes and captain Johnson. Come to think of it , lots of people like a good laugh more than I do, but that's beside the point! Now I'm warning this thread not to get silly again! You know, there are many people in the country today who, through no fault of their own, are sane. Some of them were born sane. Some of them became sane later in their lives. It is up to people like you and me who are out of our tiny little minds to try and help these people overcome their sanity. You can start in small ways with ping-pong ball eyes and a funny voice and then you can paint half of your body red and the other half green and then you can jump up and down in a bowl of treacle going 'squawk, squawk, squawk...' And then you can go 'Neurhhh! Neurhh!' and then you can roll around on the floor going 'pting pting pting' ... (<--- rolling around on the floor!)
  7. I'm not interested in your sales, I have to protect the general public. Now how about this one. It was number five, wasn't it? Number five, ram's bladder cup. What kind of confection is this? We use choicest juicy chunks of fresh Cornish ram's bladder, emptied, steamed, flavoured with sesame seeds whipped into a fondue and garnished with lark's vomit. Lark's vomit?? Correct. Well it don't say nothing about that here! Oh yes it does, on the bottom of the box, after monosodium glutamate. Well I hardly think this is good enough. I think it would be more appropriate if the box bore a large red label, 'Warning, lark's vomit.'
  8. Well, the superintendent thought it was an almond whirl. People won't expect there to be a frog in there. They're bound to think it's some form of mock frog. Mock frog??!!! We use no artificial preservatives or additives of any kind! Nevertheless, I must warn you that in future you should delete the words 'crunchy frog', and replace them with the legend 'crunchy, raw, unboned, real dead frog', if you want to avoid prosecution!
  9. QUOTE (kazzman @ Feb 3 2005, 09:30 PM) Anybody say that Pirates of the Carribean should be the next film we watch in the movie viewing party? Oh, absolutely!! A great suggestion Kazz!
  10. QUOTE (1-0-0-1-0-0-1 @ Feb 3 2005, 10:28 AM)"Yes, it went largely as I suspected, except for the fact that Silly Party Won. I think this is mainly due to the number of votes cast." They won mainly because of the number of votes cast??!!
  11. I'd have to say that Colin is my fav too! But it's like trying to pick my favorite Rush song! They're all so good. But Colin is sooo consistantly funny, and good at the games. When he and Ryan do "helping hands"... OMG, he's so talented... what a team they make, Colin and Ryan, and when they are 'pitch men' selling the "latest compilation album"... it doesn't get much better than that! "That's right folks, 50 songs on 50 cds..."
  12. Next we have number four,... 'crunchy frog'. Ah, yes. Am I right in thinking there's a real frog in here? Yes. A little one. What sort of frog? A dead frog. Is it cooked? No. What, a raw frog??!!! We use only the finest baby frogs, dew picked and flown from Iraq, cleansed in finest quality spring water, lightly killed, and then sealed in a succulent Swiss quintuple smooth treble cream milk chocolate envelope and lovingly frosted with glucose. That's as maybe, but it's still a frog. What else? Well don't you even take the bones out? If we took the bones out it wouldn't be crunchy, would it?!!
  13. QUOTE (afansince74 @ Jan 31 2005, 11:48 AM) Here's a multiple choice: Which of the following titles was NOT an alternative suggested title for the show? A)Aurthur Megapode's Cheap Show B)Bunn, Wackett, Buzzard, Stubble and Boot C)The Full Moon Show D)A Horse, A Spoon, and A Basin E)Myrtle Buzzard's Flying Circus F)Norman St. John Polevaulter's Flying Circus G)The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra Goes to the Bathroom H)The Sparkling Music and Stars Interview I)The Venus De Milo Panic Show J)Whither Canada? Hint #1 (big hint!): The 'made-up' show title appears, in part, in a skit that appears in both episode 22 and the album 'Monty Python's Previous Record'.
  14. QUOTE (Sodoff Baldrick @ Feb 2 2005, 12:39 PM)Loved the UK version, particularly the early stuff with John Sessions. And once in a while Stephen Fry and Jonathan Pryce would put in an appearance. And I loved Josie. I'd have to say I preferred the UK version. Clive was a better host, he had a droll, subtle sense of humor and a line for just about everything. Drew is funny, but when he would become part of the improv it didn't seem to work. Also, the US version tended to be a boy's club. In the UK you saw Josie and other women on all the time. It wasn't always like that in the US - because you had three mainstays (Wayne, Ryan, and Colin) whereas the UK version rotated the players more often. I agree... Drew should just stay behind the desk! The whole women/men and rotating players thing got me thinking, and I did a little research and here's what I came up with (not including hosts and musicians): Total Number of Men ever on the UK version, from '88-'98: 43 Total Number of Women ever on the UK version, from '88-'98: 11 (88 total apearances by women) Total Number of Men ever on the US version, from '98-'04: 10 Total Number of Women ever on the US version, from '98-'04: 6 (46 total apearances by women) FYI
  15. QUOTE (happysmiles007 @ Feb 2 2005, 12:36 PM)omg i haven't gotten to see ANY of the Green Screen shows!! were they good? i haven't heard anything about them since they said they'd have it. the british version isn't on much anymore..i haven't seen many of those episodes, but i've seen enough to know who all but Tony Slattery is..would you mind filling me in? i agree, i love Josie & Mike made me laugh soooo hard!! i miss Karen..the little asian girl? she was hilarious!! there's supposed to be never-before-seen episodes on every monday night at 8 on abc family..so hopefully i'll be tuning in to that next monday i think Brad's prob my fave 'extra'. he cracks me up!! Oh yea... love the Green Screen... it's all the improv, but with post-show animation added in, based on the improv... I love it! If it's back on this season you have to check it out! I don't ever see the British version anymore. Too bad too! Tony was kind of the "Benny Hill" of the British version. Some thought his improv style was too risque for US audiences though, so I doubt we'll see him, but he's one of the best ever. Oh yea, and Karen! She is hilarious! On ABC Family it's Tues-Sun at 10pm, but Monday's it's 8-10pm (4 back-to-back episodes). The 3rd one is the "new" episode we've never seen, from previous years. Great, as always! And I kind of lean towards Brad as my favorite "extra" too, and although he's good too, when Chip is paired with Wayne doing anything musical, he gets my vote, hands down!
  16. http://images.rottentomatoes.com/images/movie/gallery/1014194/photo_18.jpg Coming soon (in 2 days!) to a home-theater near you... Monty Python's Life of Brian Showtime: Saturday, Feb. 5, 2005, at 8pm eastern / 7pm central Last chance to adjust the time... is this OK to everyone?
  17. FEB. 5, 2005, Saturday night at....... We just need a confimed time... I threw out 8 or 9pm eastern time earlier. Anyone care to agree or suggest an alternative time/times to chose from?
  18. I try not to miss any of these! I saw broadcasts of the British versions on Comedy Central back around '96... maybe?... anyway, I recorded a bunch of seasons worth. I've watched most all of the US shows, and hey, where's Green Screen? Is it coming back? Anyway, I think I like the British better, but I like the US almost as much! Agreed about the british humor, no doubts about my affection for the brits when it comes to comedy! But Colin and Ryan are crossovers, as are several others, at least in a guest capacity on both. I do miss alot of the 'players' from the Brit version, like Josie Lawrance(sp?), Mike McShane, and the aformentioned Tony Slattery. I also miss some of the games, which are raely played on the US shows, like "helping hand" and "the world's worst" step. I think I like Chip Eston(sp?) and Brad Sherwood best as the "fourth chair" in the US show, but I wouldn't mind seeing a 6 person version either.
  19. HS007's avatar has inspired me to start a "Who's Line Is It Anyway" thread! Anybody watch it? Either the original British version with Clive Anderson, or the newer American version with Drew Carey? Which do you like better? Who are your favorites, and why? Personally, I miss Tony Slattery(spelling?) from the US shows.
  20. QUOTE (happysmiles007 @ Feb 1 2005, 08:20 PM)this sounds like a good idea..if this is an invitaion to everybody, then i'd love to join!! carolynn Oh definitely! Love to have ya there! And your avatar has inspired me HS007! Look for the HLIIA thread in a few minutes!
  21. Haven't missed many episodes since it started! Need to pick up the first 2 seasons on dvd soon. The wife and I love it! And this seasons' plot twists have basically re-invented the show and brought it back to kinda how it was in the 1st season, don't you think? I like it!! But I still don't trust Sloan!
