  1. Glad to hear that you've been turned on to this great album . I think my fondness for HYF stems from sentimental feelings, as this album was released when I was a senior in high school at the apex of becoming a heavy duty Rush fan. I anticipated this album more than any other, and I had a group of Rush-freak friends who also couldn't wait for the release. We gathered to listen to the various 'sneak previews' on the radio, and rushed out to purchase the album on release day. Subsequently we had listening parties , wore the record out and attended the concert. Have loved it ever since
  2. Love the songs tremendously, but hate the sound. Some of these songs demand to be played at high volume, but this is not feasible since the distortion/clipping/whatever is unbearable when you turn it up past a moderate volume. I can't believe that these self-proclaimed perfectionists allowed its release with such shabby sound me----> <----sound engineer, or whoever was responsible for mixing/recording VTs Now, since we're beating dead horses, I am going to head over to the HYF and Tai Shan threads to extoll their many virtues. I do this solely to aggravate those older board members that get uptight when someone new starts a discussion that was already covered several months ago . Newbies Unite !!
  3. QUOTE (Slaine mac Roth @ Dec 9 2004, 03:08 PM) QUOTE (Bastille Night @ Dec 9 2004, 07:54 PM) That's it, I'm going home tonight and searching the house for the copy that I know I'm getting for Christmas........can't....wait...any...longer One slight problem with that - its not supposed to be available in the UK until tomorrow and North America not until Tuesday. I think you may have a long search ahead Well, maybe I'll find something else worthwhile while I wait for next Tuesday

CART MASTER: What? CUSTOMER: Nothing. Here's your ninepence. DEAD PERSON: I'm not dead! CART MASTER: 'Ere. He says he's not dead! CUSTOMER: Yes, he is. DEAD PERSON: I'm not! CART MASTER: He isn't? CUSTOMER: Well, he will be soon. He's very ill. DEAD PERSON: I'm getting better! CUSTOMER: No, you're not. You'll be stone dead in a moment. CART MASTER: Oh, I can't take him like that. It's against regulations. DEAD PERSON: I don't want to go on the cart! CUSTOMER: Oh, don't be such a baby. CART MASTER: I can't take him. DEAD PERSON: I feel fine! CUSTOMER: Well, do us a favour. CART MASTER: I can't. CUSTOMER: Well, can you hang around a couple of minutes? He won't be long. CART MASTER: No, I've got to go to the Robinsons'. They've lost nine today. 9. Brazil is correct --- not very difficult then, I guess. You're up Slaine
  10. Storm : Do you know what happens to a toad when it's struck by lightning? [Pause for dramatic effect] Storm : The same thing that happens to everything else.
  11. Yay! Alright, not sure if this one will be easy or not http://www.iuploads.com/uploads/5385210d08.jpg

  14. QUOTE (Drew @ Dec 4 2004, 07:32 PM) She still looks like a boy. And she's still an idiot. If she is a boy, then I am a gay man (not that there's anything wrong with that). HOT HOT HOT
  15. QUOTE (daveyt @ Dec 5 2004, 12:24 AM) plus this boot has a kick ass version of BADLANDS. i rewound the intro like 100x times because the first note/beat was so awesome "1..2..3..4. <da da da da da da da>...." Exellent.....daveyt's gettin hooked, and there is no better person to spread the word Gimme a little "Atlantic City"
  16. QUOTE (circumstantial tree @ Dec 4 2004, 03:38 PM) his music is too "basic" . Gotta disagree on this one. Sure, many of his mainstream hits are simple rock tunes, but the E-Street Band is one of the finest music ensembles ever in terms of straight up Rock and Roll / R&B (IMHO). I suggest songs like Thunder Road or Born to Run as starting points for Springsteen, and The River is a better album to start with than Born in the USA. For the acoustically inclined, you cannot beat Nebraska. And again, he must be experienced in concert
  17. I don't care how dumb she is....damn she's hot
  18. See Bruce in concert once, and you will be hooked for life. I've only seen him twice, but both shows blew me away. His shows rival a concert for sheer energy and length. The stageshow isn't as flashy, but he does mix up the setlist a bit throughout a tour
  19. The only soccer game I've ever enjoyed (yes, I said soccer UKer's, football has an oblong shaped ball ) Archimedes out to Socrates, Socrates back to Archimedes, Archimedes out to Heraclitus, he beats Hegel . Heraclitus a little flick, here he comes on the far post, Socrates is there, Socrates heads it in! Socrates has scored! The Greeks are going mad, the Greeks are going mad. Socrates scores, got a beautiful cross from Archimedes. The Germans are disputing it. Hegel is arguing that the reality is merely an a priori adjunct of non-naturalistic ethics, Kant via the categorical imperative is holding that ontologically it exists only in the imagination, and Marx is claiming it was offside.
  20. QUOTE (Test4VitalSigns @ Dec 4 2004, 06:32 AM) I've heard so much about this show but having miss it entirely so far I'm going to wait for the summer reruns so i can watch it from scratch..So yeah..NO SPOILERS!!! I'm guessing that they'll start reruning the shows in December sometime, so keep an eye on the tv guide and start watching them then.....don't wait until summer, it's too good to wait that long
  21. I'm new around these parts, but I am aware of the game and have downloaded the clip and given it a few listens. Just haven't had a chance to make some serious guesses yet. I shall play in the future if it stays around.
  22. QUOTE (yyz @ Dec 2 2004, 09:26 PM)Opra. BTW I have no idea whats going on. YYZ --- the idea of the game is to guess the film from which this picture was taken: QUOTE (Slaine mac Roth @ Posted on Dec 2 2004, 02:03 PM) OK, try this one http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v110/Jimyyz2112/Misc/jd.jpg I'm guessing it has something to do with the desert, but my mind is fuzzy from beer and I can't place it.....and I could also be way off base again (this is likely)
  23. QUOTE (gaffney2005 @ Nov 30 2004, 01:04 PM) dude you always go first how can u say that when weve never done IT before Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back (...and if not, see Slaine's post above)
  24. QUOTE (GhostGirl @ Nov 22 2004, 05:31 PM) "Son, when a man knows deep down in his heart, when he really knows, he doesn't have to argue about it, he doesn't have to prove anything. Just knowing is enough." Smallville (...and if not, read Slaine's post above )
