  1. QUOTE (joanneeeeee @ Jan 8 2008, 06:38 PM) Feels good to let it out, huh, Rocinante Kid? Sorry about Steve Yeah, 17 years today. I actually made a thread on Music Of The Spheres if you're a fan you should check it out. One of my favourite songs that Steve played on; I'd be your lover, if you were there Put your hurt on me, if you dare Such a woman, you got style You make every man feel like a child, oh You got some kinda hold on me You're all wrapped up in mystery So wild and free, so far from me You're all I want, my fantasy
  2. QUOTE (LoneStar Boogie @ Jan 8 2008, 09:08 AM) "The pilot of Enola Gay Flying out of the shockwave On that August Day." Nailed it. Also the second verse of The Camera Eye. "Wide-angle watcher" amazing.
  3. No promises No guarantees When you come down here you're Already on your knees You wanna ride White Lightnin', then just sign your name If you wanna dance with the devil, you gotta play his way (Play the game) You gotta taste that sweetness 'Cos you can't say no But are you ready for the nightmare When you can't let go Like a soldier of fortune When the money runs dry You've got rivers of bitter tears (In your eyes) For my man Steve! R.I.P.
  4. It's such a cloudy day Seems we'll never see the sun Or feel the day has possibilities Frozen in the moment... The lack of imagination Between how it is and how it ought to be
  5. QUOTE (The Owl @ Jan 8 2008, 05:16 AM) QUOTE (Larks @ Jan 7 2008, 03:35 PM) thats bad news.. they dont need greatest hits cd.. just not a band for those kind of stupid cds, You and I view compelation records very diffrently A compelation to me is a tool for introducing someone into a band, and hopefully the first CD of many. True, some will buy a compelation and never buy another record, but still thats 1 more DT record sold, to someone who would have never tried out any of the Studio Albums in the first place. But usually with me, I don't buy many compelation records....I tend to introduce myself into a band by buying the latest LIVE album. For example the first DT album I ever got was "Score"....and I was blown the f**k away.....needless to say I have all the DT albums now. Mmm... From experience Greatest Hits are never a good introduction to the band. Imagine the shock of buying a Dream Theater Greatest Hits to hear 4 minute songs with a chorus after every verse and then deciding you like it enough to buy a proper album, picking up S.D.O.I.T. and thinking "WHAT THE HELL IS THIS!?"
  6. I am just a worthless liar. I am just an imbecile. I will only complicate you. trust in me and fall as well. I will find a center in you. I will chew it up and leave. I will work to elevate you, just enough to bring you down. Mother mary, wont you whisper. something but the past is done. Why cant we not be sober? I just want to start this over. Why cant we sleep forever? I just want to start this over. I am just a worthless liar. I am just an imbecile. I will only complicate you. trust in me and fall as well. I will find a center in you. 13. Ahhhh Progressive spam! [i. The Crimson Sunrise] [instrumental] [iI. Innocence] I remember a time My frail, virgin mind Watched the crimson sunrise Imagined what it might find Life was filled with wonder I felt the warm wind blow I must explore the boundaries Transcend the depth of winter's snow Innocence caressing me I never felt so young before There was so much life in me Still I longed to search for more But those days are gone now Changed like a leaf on a tree Blown away forever Into the cool autumn breeze The snow has now fallen And my sun's not so bright I struggle to hold on With the last of my might In my den of inequity Viciousness and subtlety Struggle to ease the pain Struggle to find the same Ignorance surrounding me I've never been so filled with fear All my life's been drained from me The end is drawing near... [iII. Carpe Diem] "Carpe diem Seize the day" I'll always remember The chill of November The news of the fall The sounds in the hall The clock on the wall Ticking away "Seize the Day" I heard him say Life will not always be this way Look around Hear the sounds Cherish your life While you're still around ("Gather ye rosebuds while ye may) (Old Time is still a-flying;) (And this same flower that smiles today) (Tomorrow will be dying") We can learn From the past But those days Are gone We can hope For the future But there might not be one The words stuck in my mind Alive from what I've learned I have to seize the day To home I returned Preparing for her flight I held with all my might Fearing my deepest fright She walked into the night She turned for one last look She looked me in the eye I said, "I Love You... Good-bye" ("It's the most awful thing you'll ever hear") ("If you're lying to me...") ("Oh, you dearly love her") ("...just have to leave...) (All our lives") ("Seize the day!") ("Something happened") ("Gather ye rosebuds while ye may") ("She was killed") [iV. The Darkest Of Winters] [instrumental] [V. Another World] So far or so it seems All is lost With nothing fulfilled Off the pages and the T.V. screen Another world Where nothing's true Tripping through The life fantastic Lose a step And never get up Left alone With a cold blank stare I feel like giving up I was blinded by a paradise Utopia high in the sky A dream that only drowned me Deep in sorrow, wondering why Oh come let us adore him Abuse and then ignore him No matter what Don't let him be Let's feed upon his misery Then string him up for all the world to see I'm sick of all Your hypocrites Holding me at bay And I don't need Your sympathy To get me through the day Seasons change and so can I Hold on Boy No time to cry Untie these strings I'm climbing down I won't let them push me away Oh come let us adore him Abuse and then ignore him No matter what Don't let him be Let's feed upon His misery Now it's time for them To deal with me [VI. The Inevitable Summer] [instrumental] [VII. The Crimson Sunset] I'm much wiser now A lifetime of memories Run though my head They taught me how For better or worse Alive or dead I realize There's no turning back Life goes on The offbeaten track I sit down with my son Set to see the Crimson Sunset (Gather ye rosebuds while ye may) Many years have come and gone I've lived my life, but now must move on (Gather ye rosebuds while ye may) He's my only one Now that my time has come Now that my life is done We look into the sun "Seize the day And don't you cry Now it's time To say good-bye Even though I'll be gone I will live on Live on"
  14. QUOTE (Snowman @ Jan 5 2008, 09:09 AM) QUOTE (The Owl @ Jan 4 2008, 06:17 PM) I think Derek's work with DT is really good, "A change of seasons" proves that much, but getting rid of Derek for Rudess was the smartest move Dream Theater's ever made. A Change Of Seasons was supposed to be on the Images & Words disc, that is why Sherinian shines on this. It would have fitted superbly and it is a shame that they didnt record it while Kevin Moore was in the band. Sherinian and Rudess are better technicians but they cant compete with the emotional playings from Moore. There is a live recording of this song featuring Kevin Moore. Anyone heard it? I think it outshines the studiorecording. Sherinian/Rudess=IQ Moore=EQ IMO I haven't heard the live recording with Moore so I can't say but yeah I agree with everything else you said.
  15. Okay since we had it out about Kevin Moore, what's anyone's opinion on Derek Sherinian?
  16. May have posted this before but not on this thread. My dog Alfie. http://img520.imageshack.us/img520/985/52020330ks7.jpg And you can see him on this one thinking me (Gun to head) and my friend are childish. http://img520.imageshack.us/img520/5827/adoo3.jpg In my defense - Old photo!
  17. Probably watch a few more episodes of The Sopranos on DVD. I don't have any other plans tonight...
  18. Secret Touch for me. Interesting after all the bitching about One Little Victory being played on tour it's winning this poll by a long shot.
  19. Tough one. Certainly three of the best. I went with Waves in the end.
  20. QUOTE (circumstantial tree @ Jan 1 2008, 09:13 PM) Nicolas Cage's first work as any kind of lead actor was "Valley Girl" which came out in 1983 right after "Fast Times..." http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5M9aY7hXjGU I had to post this. I feel embarrassed for Moon............ ...for having to try to mime this song. Bet ya thought I was gonna say 'cause of her name!
  21. QUOTE (WCFIELDS @ Jan 1 2008, 09:19 PM) QUOTE (KenJennings @ Dec 25 2007, 01:00 PM) Seriously, Kevin Moore was a peice of crap. Yeah, right......... Yeah what the hell's all that about. I'd like to see anyone here play half as well as Moore. What is he up to at the moment?
  22. Will probably watch Zodiac which I recently picked up for a bargain price in Virgin Megastores. Loved it at the cinema and bought the book which also kicked arse so I'm hoping it'll be as good as I remember.
