  1. The Coliseum is a hotel next to Rexall place. Reviews seem good. I'm serious guys. Calgary booed a S&A song that they had never heard before. It may have been more of an "uhhh?" than a full on boo. But it didn't sound good. I even recalled my gilfriend being shocked who is a huge Rush fan. She thought it was because of the delayed CD release which I fully agree with. I will go to my grave thinking it was an akward moment and they will never come back to YYC again. I hope I'm wrong.
  2. QUOTE (GeminiRising79 @ Jun 18 2012, 04:03 PM) I'd like to see Rush this coming tour, but will not be buying tickets until reviewing the setlist. Anyone else doing the same? No, I bought the tour package for myself and my girlfriend. Rush will not be around for ever (live), so get it while you can... price is irrelevant when it comes to art.
  3. If you're talking Tour de force, Neil has already admitted that he'd never do an album like Hemispheres again. Which is good, because La Villa Strangiato broke my balls But I have to say 2112 is no slouch either. Finally, Farewell to Kings has some chops that were difficult to play for me to this day. Spirit of Radio (Jacob's ladder in particular) is challenging. Just goes on and on. Best doesn't end. It's more like "what's new" with Peart.
  4. Don't let Animal burn to death. Don't watch this video.
  5. I've seen a few good rush concerts in Calgary, but the last one (Snakes and Arrows before the album came out -- no fault of their own) actually had boos from the audience. I almost fell over and died. And I knew they wouldn't be coming back. Since I have to go to Edmonton for this, does anyone have comments on the Coliseum since it looks like the closest play to stay? Thx.
  6. I knew there was a subconscious reason why I logged into this site today Happy B-Day and keep on rockin'/bikin'!
  7. Yes, cut out soda -- especially diet. It makes a huge difference. Google Clint Eastwood on soda. He has some funny comments about it, and never drinks it.
  8. I'm just going to reply to your original post here, although it looks like the thread gets pretty long and you may have solved your issues I've been playing drums for 30 years, and once Rush got into my playlist I had a lot of frustrating times. However, they were challenging and absolutely worthwhile from a learning perspective (I'm self-taught as well). At the end of the day though I realized that music was not my "job" and would not be my "job". So playing Rush became a lot more enjoyable. I think you're a lot like me -- you put pressure on yourself to perfect every song that you can . It's an admirable trait, but if you are not doing it as a career you need to cut yourself some slack and enjoy the experience as an artist.
  9. QUOTE (Nate2112 @ Aug 20 2011, 06:03 PM) I don't see no bald spot Let the games begin!
  10. Like my own, Alex's bald spot just gets bigger. What should he do about it?
  11. At the end of the day it's all about art. And there are not enough artists in this world. Feel free to quote me.
  12. Hi. I still can't play Neil, but I'm trying. Hemispheres is a pain in the ass.

  14. Agree with Maven ^^^ We saw the show last year in Vegas and this one was really quite extraordinary. They must have had their Wheaties.
  15. Here's a quick video showing a nice segue from Alex into Closer to the Heart. These are greats seats and we've had them before (although I have to admit I'd like to sit Geddy side once in my lifetime )
  16. Well, we leave tomorrow She's become a bigger Rush fan than I am believe it or not. I'll post some pics.
  17. Rush Double Header: Vegas June 24 Vancouver June 30 All expenses paid in 5 star hotels. Insignificant bonuses are: 1 dozen red roses 1 Apple TV (for Netflix) 1 bottle of 10 year old Dom Perignon 1 box of organic strawberries What do you think?
  18. I like the ferret wolf mouse thingers in the corner
  19. Just realized I'm old. Here's a link to what I'm talking about: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wgaD54YcXpA
  20. I guess that didn't come across right. I didn't throw it out. I threw a lot of shit out before I found this... I thought it was interesting because Neil would have loved this Buddy Rich album. Edit: Hell, I love this Buddy Rich album; I'm sure he listens to it

  22. I haven't read through this whole thread, so I'm sure someone else has said it: Rush concerts are tame compared to everything else out there. I highly recommend ear-plugs though for someone that age. BTW I'm interested in your drum kit -- send me an email
  23. For anyone that's interested I sent the Venetian an email about my shitty customer service. I guess we'll see what happens heh.
  24. Thanks guys, I really appreciate your responses. To add: no, cost is not a factor.
  25. I've been to Vegas a few times, and normally stay at the Venetian or Palazzo. But the Venetian particularly seems to be getting worse in customer service. For the June 2011 show I'm curious as to where people are planning to stay. I'm thinking of trying the MGM Grand or Bellagio this time around (Rush = MGM, Bellagio = O). Any comments on other 4.5 - 5 star hotels?
