  2. I would love to see the RushCon photos- with or without the boxer photo included, ha ha! Glad you won a major award ! http://i190.photobucket.com/albums/z33/bfwgjma/Bucky%20Bikes%20the%20Bay%20Sept%2019%202009/Major%20Award_zpswzbwi0l7.jpg
  3. I'll have some photos from RushCon this weekend and will post them here... I only hope that the official photog was not quick enough on the shutter button to catch me when I dropped my trousers to claim my "Best RUSH undergarment" prize at the Lotus Land tribute band show on Saturday night... I was sporting my 2112 boxers and joyously showed them off to claim my hologram disc copy of Roll the Bones!!! One of many very good times at RushCon 16! Rock on! http://i190.photobucket.com/albums/z33/bfwgjma/Rush%202010%20Shoreline/246.jpg
  4. I have an old VHS of their stuff, featuring Boogie Boy. Probably on YouTube somewhere. Booji Boy is full-on creeeepy... http://i190.photobucket.com/albums/z33/bfwgjma/DEVO%20Freedom%20of%20Choice%20San%20Fran%20Nov%207%202009/DEVOFreedomofChoice191.jpg A Booji ball... http://i190.photobucket.com/albums/z33/bfwgjma/DEVO%20Freedom%20of%20Choice%20San%20Fran%20Nov%207%202009/DEVOFreedomofChoice.jpg
  5. My favorite disc is Hardcore, Vol 2. All sorts of old demo versions of their best and plenty of otherwise unreleased gems... http://i190.photobucket.com/albums/z33/bfwgjma/DEVO%20Are%20We%20Not%20Men%20San%20Fran%20Nov%206%202009/DumbassesatDevoinSF.jpg That's me behind the tall gent in black with the black winter cap on his head...
  6. Devo played back to back dates in SF in 2009. The first night was "Are We Not Men?", second night they performed "Freedom of Choice". I was right up front both nights and LOVED both shows! Are We Not Men was like a good ol' punk show with full mosh pit and very rock show vibe. The second night was super mellow with plenty of elbow room for everybody but still lots of energy from the band and crowd. There was a full train-wreck tune while they were performing "F..o.C.". It looked like something might have been wrong with the band's monitors, Mark kept looking at a tele-prompter for lyrics, and they didn't seem to be able to hear what the others were doing. The whole tune was out of synch and vocals were out of tune and off-beat... just a mess. Nobody really cared, just played until it came to an end. I could hear the band talking to one another and heard Mark say to Bob 1 with kind of an exasperated laugh, "What the fuque was that?!" when it was all over... good times.... "Are We Not Men" was one of the very first records I owned and loved as a kid. I still have that album... I think it's time to give it a spin, eh! Rock on! http://s190.photobuc...9?sort=3&page=1 http://s190.photobuc...9?sort=3&page=1 http://i190.photobucket.com/albums/z33/bfwgjma/DEVO%20Are%20We%20Not%20Men%20San%20Fran%20Nov%206%202009/DEVOAreWeNotMen016.jpg http://i190.photobucket.com/albums/z33/bfwgjma/DEVO%20Are%20We%20Not%20Men%20San%20Fran%20Nov%206%202009/DEVOAreWeNotMen033.jpg http://i190.photobucket.com/albums/z33/bfwgjma/DEVO%20Are%20We%20Not%20Men%20San%20Fran%20Nov%206%202009/DEVOAreWeNotMen091.jpg http://i190.photobucket.com/albums/z33/bfwgjma/DEVO%20Freedom%20of%20Choice%20San%20Fran%20Nov%207%202009/DEVOFreedomofChoice074.jpg http://i190.photobucket.com/albums/z33/bfwgjma/DEVO%20Freedom%20of%20Choice%20San%20Fran%20Nov%207%202009/DEVOFreedomofChoice113.jpg http://i190.photobucket.com/albums/z33/bfwgjma/DEVO%20Freedom%20of%20Choice%20San%20Fran%20Nov%207%202009/DEVOFreedomofChoice070.jpg
  7. Gas is by the liter...so if you rent a car, and see $1.22...thats per liter...not gallons. Loonie = $1 coin/ Toonie = $2 coin....., No 1 or 2 dollar bill Tim Hortons is Donuts and coffee..they are everywhere I have heard people from the US will just use credit cards up there to pay for everything so they don't get screwed on exchange rates...but with cell phones, what happens? You get hit with international roaming charges or something like that? That kind of sucks. Call your cell provider and set up "international" calling & messaging for Canada about a week before you will be across the border. You might pay an extra few bucks to them but that's much less than the per-minute charges that the Canadian cell carriers will charge you. They pick up on your signal and welcome you to their coverage area even before you cross. I used to live about 2 miles from the river and my cell would announce my "welcome to Canada" at least a couple of times per day when I was at home. Xanadu, if you can get to Detroit, we can take the train out of Windsor on Thursday. It's a 4 hour ride and about US$100 for the round-trip. The YYZ station is about 1.5 miles from the hotel so I plan to walk once I arrive in Toronto. I hope you make the trip. This will be my fourth RushCon and I've had a grand time each time...always well worth the trip, eh! Rock on! http://i190.photobucket.com/albums/z33/bfwgjma/Rush%202013%20Hamilton%20ONT%20%206%20July/IMG_3890_zpsc723ee85.jpg

  9. That's what she said... :syrinx:
  10. I will be there. Anybody else from Detroit want to take the train out of Windsor with me? Rock on! http://i190.photobucket.com/albums/z33/bfwgjma/Rush%202013%20Hamilton%20ONT%20%206%20July/IMG_3896_zpsda86ab6b.jpg

  12. A few shots from the front row of the balcony. Great show, awesome view and really good sound quality in the middle and up high. It was most excellent to meet Chronos before the show! 13. Oh wow, cool story! The only show they're playing near the Bay Area is a festival in Sacramento, but I don't do festivals. So I'm going to the Eugene & Portland shows instead. Plus then I get to see one of my very good friends who lives in Portland :D Super cool! I did Seattle / Portland back-to-back RUSH shows for R30...back when the band actually played dates back-to-back. I was living in San Leandro, CA, at that time...I still carry my (510) cell phone after all these years. Have a great trip and enjoy the Ghost show. It was tons of fun last night here in The D-! I have photos and a nice video of Cirice / Year Zero that I'll post tonight. Rock on!
  14. Great story! I've often wondered what my reaction would be if I ever meet Alice Cooper? I know what a cool and down to earth guy he is but I don't know if I could just have a regular conversation with him like you did. I think my reaction would be more along the lines of when Wayne and Garth meet him in Wayne's World I was a little star-struck the first time I met him but he really is just a totally low-key dude... he just hung around the store for about an hour today, buying stuff, talking up the staff and other customers, taking photos with a bunch of folks. I had a nice long talk with his wife as well and have gotten to know one of his production assistants over a couple of visits here and attending Hollywood Vampires and Alice Cooper shows recently. She is a friend of the business and Alice is an adopted son of Detroit, so he's home when he is here. I may go see his show in Toledo tomorrow night but I'll see how I feel after the night out to see Ghost tonight. I'm too old to do two late-night rock shows AND still get to work and be even slightly productive the next days. But a great rock show is worth the sacrifice, I think... we'll see... Rock on! http://i190.photobucket.com/albums/z33/bfwgjma/Bucky%20Bikes%20the%20Bay%20Sept%2019%202009/me%20and%20Alice%20C._zpsibp0wbdq.jpg
  15. Which shows will you see? They aren't playing the SF Bay area are they? I'll report on the show in a few hours... I'm sure it's going to be a rockin' great time! Let me drop a name now... Alice Cooper was just in the store where I work and I was talking with him about his current tour and mentioned the show I'm attending tonight. I said, "You would probably love these guys!". He says, "Oh, I do... we played a show together in Denmark somewhere and you'd be amazed at the guys in the band". He pointed to a very clean-cut young guy on our staff and said, "The lead singer looks like that guy. You'd think he worked in a library at Harvard or somewhere." But put on their stage persona and they rock the HELL out of (or INTO) the place...at least that's what I'm looking forward to in a couple of hours... Rock on!
  16. I saw them open for Foo Fighters at Pine Knob. Loud, decent rock beats and great live energy on stage. However, the two-man line-up got pretty "meh" pretty quickly. They get the many "guitar" sounds from an octave machine for the bass player who fully wails on his instrument and puts on an impressive live performance...but the music has not complexity nor depth as it's all the same lines just varying pitch on the single notes & chords played on the bass. I say add a guitar or two who bring the same live energy and add some orchestration to the musical scene and they'll be worth re-considering. Otherwise, I won't likely buy any of their recorded stuff nor go out of my way to see them live again... Rock on!
  17. Oh my! This band is really getting to me... I cannot wait until the live show on Monday night! This acoustic version of Cirice is quite amazing in every way... Rock on! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YVwuAgqWMWw
  18. I have and I dig it... So far, everything I've heard is good, some more catchy than others but all got my attention on the first listen. Although I have not watched the entire video, I did find a full live show (HELLFEST 2016) that shows what the live experience is like... very rockin'... I"m fired up for the show on MOnday! Rock on! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cTTrvp3NFlY
  19. As opposed to THE Frost... a '60s & '70s classic rock band from Detroit featuring Dick Wagner... good old psychedelic-ish stuff.. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qeGN2KT-Evg

  21. I'm going to walk up and check this show out here in The D-! I'm really digging Cirice right now but everything I'm hearing is sitting very well on my ear... Chronos, let's connect before the show for a beer or six... I live in Detroit, work in MidTown. I'll hope to connect with others from the board for this show... Rock on! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-0Ao4t_fe0I I know it is not from Popestar but it was the first song from Ghost that landed on my playlist while letting YouTube pick songs after I was listening to Tool and Porcupine Tree. I'm listening to this one again right now and Square Hammer is up next... very good stuff! I get a Tool meets Alice In Chains feel from most of their tunes....

  24. I was introduced to King Crimson during my first year of college. In the Court of the Crimson King... It was love at first listen! I've seen them 3 times; once in Seattle during the THRAK tour in 1995 and twice more recently when they played a ton of the '70s best from Red, Starless and Larks' Tongues... I've also seen The Tony Levin Band once, Adrian Belew four times and Robert Fripp three times; once when he opened for Porcupine Tree doing SoundScapes and twice with his crew of Crafty Guitarists... the first of those was in about 1990 in Madison, then last June, here in Detroit. The Detroit show of The Orchestra of Crafty Guitarists was performed in a Catholic church that was built in the late 1800s. It is a beautiful building and the sound of 50 acoustic guitars inside was spectacular. The Sept, 2014, King Crimson show at The Barrymore Theater in Madison, remains one of the most deeply moving live shows I've ever attended... Here are a few photos of the recent venues... Rock ON! http://i190.photobucket.com/albums/z33/bfwgjma/Bucky%20Bikes%20the%20Bay%20Sept%2019%202009/0610161845a_zpsod8x0e7c.jpg http://i190.photobucket.com/albums/z33/bfwgjma/Bucky%20Bikes%20the%20Bay%20Sept%2019%202009/0610161924_zpsmvpda91g.jpg http://i190.photobucket.com/albums/z33/bfwgjma/King%20Crimson%202014/King%20Crimson%20Barrymore_zps1ek0y6cf.jpg http://i190.photobucket.com/albums/z33/bfwgjma/King%20Crimson%202014/Frippp_zpsyoxn1v6h.jpg http://i190.photobucket.com/albums/z33/bfwgjma/King%20Crimson%202014/Levin_zpssusiwldb.jpg http://i190.photobucket.com/albums/z33/bfwgjma/Adrian%20Belew%20Slims%20San%20Fran%20CA%20Oct%2018%202009/BelewatSlims039.jpg
