  1. QUOTE (rushbass @ Mar 23 2008, 02:40 PM) I missed the first one... When is the next one coming? RushRevisited helped me immensely with his Rush clip contests. I know how much I enjoyed playing along with legendary contenders like 1-0-0-1-0-0-1, GhostGirl, Moonraker, and others at a different board. I am very thankful for RushRevisited's generosity and the members that made his game very entertaining for everyone involved. Since I have always felt like I needed to give something back to the Rush community who always treated me well, I will try my best to be generous. If enough people are interested in naming Rush clips in a contest, then I will host one contest. If you are interested in winning 7 Rush audio boots from me by winning the contest, then please post here. Thanks for your time.
  2. Is anyone else a ROABP member? If you are a member then you should have received this email. "Firstly we would like to thank all of you for helping to make The Incident (album and tour) one of our most successful ever. Secondly, we're writing to inform you that the way ROABP operates is changing - instead of running for a calendar year this membership will cover the life-cycle of the album. This means that everyone who is currently a member will stay a member while ticketing for The Incident tour continues. New members are welcome to join at any point but membership will only cover this tour. We hope to announce new dates in January and to have all our allocated tickets available here for you at that time. In the meantime we have added the remains of the tour merchandise to the PT shop. And now we have something exclusive for ROABP members... Your chance to win a signed copy of The Incident Deluxe Edition! All you have to do is name as many film or literary references in Porcupine Tree song titles as you can. These must be from official releases only. The winner will be the person who comes up with the most correct references - in the event of a draw the winner will be chosen at random from the top scoring entries. The closing date for this exclusive competition is Monday, 11th January at noon (UK time). Click here to enter the competition. Full Terms and Conditions for the competition are here. Thank you once again for your support. We hope you enjoy your festive season and that the competition keeps you occupied!"
  3. QUOTE (Natch @ Dec 3 2009, 03:32 PM)I'm still in the discovery phase with PT. I was only turned on to them a few months ago. I have six of their albums. There is so much material, and so little time! So far, I'm totally digging this band. Just picked up "The Sky Moves Sideways" last night. I can't believe I hadn't heard of these guys until recently. I guess that's what I get for only listening to the radio. The new stuff I hear from mainstream FM radio is mostly crap. Yeah, FM radio is mostly crap. I wouldn't have found out about PT without the Rush fans here, so thanks to all of you. I saw Lasse Hoile's video for "Time Flies" at Boscov's department store on numerous TVs. I was shocked.
  4. I work for Atlantic Records as a volunteer promoter for Halestorm and Skillet. They send me promos and I visit record stores, malls, radio stations, etc. I think Halestorm would get little media coverage if they had an ugly lead singer. I consider Halestorm to be generic rock radio. The only thing that makes this band marketable is the lead signer. Otherwise, I would dump this band into a pile of other uninspiring rock radio artists.

How does the album sound in 5.1......? The set was so damn expensive...I got the regular release.... I still need to buy "Incident," along with "In Absentia" and "Deadwing." I will be buying those in 5.1, and am just waiting till I have the spare cash to pick them up. the 5.1 mix was only available with the Deluxe edition of the incident. It also had alot of artwork with it.. the set is about 100 smackaroos!... I do have the 5.1 of In Absentia...it sounds great It was the best $106.99 I have ever spent. Lasse Hoile's photography is stunning like always. I love his work. 1-0-0-1-0-0-1 (along with anyone else that wants to listen to the 5.1 mix of "The Incident"), I wish you could purchase the 5.1 mix DVD by itself. It is unfair for the people that don't want the 116 page Lasse Hoile photography hardback book and 48 page paperback book of Hajo Mueller's drawings. My favorite 5.1 mix is for "In Absentia". But, the 5.1 mix for "The Incident" is pretty good. The 5.1 mix definitely sounds excellent with a decent surround sound system. If they follow the same schedule as with FOABP the DVD AUDIO/ DTS 5.1 mix will most likely be available around Christmas early new-year as a stand alone disc. They usually stick a HI-Res stereo track on there as well. "The Incident" is the only CD I have from PT, everything else is HI-Res multi channel which is how I got into them in the first place. "Stupid Dream" DVD-A might be the best sounding disc by anybody I've heard. Take Care Thank you very much for the information, Hear Again. I hope that PT does that for "The Incident".

Believe me, I'm not slagging off Porcupine Tree. It's true, I don't really like them, but that is simply because I'm not a great fan of their type of music. However, Even looking at it objectively,Kings X have been woefully underrated by the music business at large, and I have never seen a band that compares with them live. I'll shut up now, as this is not a Kings X thread I saw King's X twice (2009-09-24 at the Terminal 5 in NYC and 2009-09-26 at the Electric Factory in Philly). They were one of the best opening acts I have ever seen. I have seen a lot of opening acts that I want to leave the stage ASAP. I wanted to hear more from King's X. I think they should be headlining in connection with some other band that opens for them. I was really impressed with their live show. I think PT is far better in both studio and concert than King's X. But I still enjoy King's X. They deserve greater recognition by the music industry, I agree with you there. I liked the whole story about the church of rock and roll, that was great. King's X does a lot of headlining. They just came off a tour of their own, in fact. I don't think opening for other bands is something they do a lot of. I do think it was a shrewd move to open for PT -- maybe they saw it as an opportunity to expand their fan base a bit. Judging by how the PT crowd enjoyed them in NYC, I'd say they accomplished just that. Thanks 1-0-0-1-0-0-1 for letting me know. I don't know much about King's X so I was unaware of them headlining most shows. That's good to hear. You make a great point about them opening for PT. I know they turned me into a fan after I saw their splendid live performance. I need to pick up some of their albums. I wish I had some extra money to fly to Europe to see PT play. I guess I'll just have to wait until next year when PT comes back to the US to tour.

  10. QUOTE (Wilderness_of_Mirrors @ Sep 27 2009, 02:19 AM) just got back from the Electric Factory and this was one of the BEST shows ive ever seen in my life. f***ing AMAZING. The Incident in its entirety was UNREAL, Steven changes instruments every 4 seconds too haha....hes an animal! Gavin was a beast, as expected, and John Wesley was at the top of his game. there were a few technical issues that Steve joked about throughout (broken string on the first song, dead guitar wire during Time Flies, forgotten lyric in Sound Of Muzak etc etc) but it was amazing reguardless. the sound was not bad at all, contrary to what ive been told about the EF. oh an did i mention I WAS IN THE FIRST ROW?!?!?!?!??! best night ever. good night. I definitely agree with you, Wilderness_of_Mirrors. I think front row is overrated. I shoot stealth pictures at many concerts so third row is best for me. I will always be happy being in the first 5 rows at a concert shooting stealth pictures. I loved PT's performance of Bonnie the Cat. I was hoping PT would play it at Terminal 5 in NYC, but they didn't. I have only seen PT two times this tour (2009-09-24 and 2009-09-26). I can't wait to see them again. I met John Wesley, Gavin Harrison, Colin Edwin, and Richard Barbieri after the show in the rain. Unfortunately, Colin didn't want to take a picture with me because it was raining heavily and I completely respect his decision. It was ugly outside. But, I did manage to get my picture taken with John, Gavin, and Richard. I was told that Steven Wilson jumped into the bus right after the show. He had a rough night with all of the guitar cable malfunctions. Steven even mentioned that his acoustic guitar was out of tune. He told the crowd that he had to tune the guitar himself on the spot because you have to leave that work to the professionals. That made the audience chuckle. I enjoyed the Philly show better because PT fed off the crowd's energy more than in NYC. I liked the Philly setlist better too. Bonnie the Cat sounds better live than Remember Me Lover, imho. I was happy with the song swap in Philly. I was jumping up and down when I heard the first few seconds of Bonnie the Cat. I was so excited to hear that song for the first time live. Normal was spectacular, it was my favorite performance of the night. I shot photos during their last song, Trains, and after the show. I hope you enjoy them. 2009-09-26 - Porcupine Tree - Electric Factory - Philadelphia, PA The Incident Start of Something Beautiful Russia on Ice Anesthetize (Part 2) Normal Strip the Soul / .3 Bonnie the Cat Sound of Muzak Trains http://i296.photobucket.com/albums/mm184/tongue_dances/DMJ-2009-09-26-RichardBarbieri01.jpg http://i296.photobucket.com/albums/mm184/tongue_dances/DMJ-2009-09-26-ColinEdwin01.jpg http://i296.photobucket.com/albums/mm184/tongue_dances/DMJ-2009-09-26-ColinEdwin02.jpg http://i296.photobucket.com/albums/mm184/tongue_dances/DMJ-2009-09-26-GavinHarrison01.jpg http://i296.photobucket.com/albums/mm184/tongue_dances/DMJ-2009-09-26-GavinHarrison02.jpg http://i296.photobucket.com/albums/mm184/tongue_dances/DMJ-2009-09-26-JohnWesley01.jpg http://i296.photobucket.com/albums/mm184/tongue_dances/DMJ-2009-09-26-StevenWilson01.jpg http://i296.photobucket.com/albums/mm184/tongue_dances/DMJ-2009-09-26-StevenWilson02.jpg http://i296.photobucket.com/albums/mm184/tongue_dances/DMJ-2009-09-26-StevenWilson03.jpg http://i296.photobucket.com/albums/mm184/tongue_dances/DMJ-2009-09-26-StevenWilson04.jpg http://i296.photobucket.com/albums/mm184/tongue_dances/DMJ-2009-09-26-StevenAndColin01.jpg http://i296.photobucket.com/albums/mm184/tongue_dances/DMJ-2009-09-26-StevenAndColin02.jpg http://i296.photobucket.com/albums/mm184/tongue_dances/DMJ-2009-09-26-StevenRichardGavin01.jpg http://i296.photobucket.com/albums/mm184/tongue_dances/DMJ-2009-09-26-GavinsDrumKit.jpg http://i296.photobucket.com/albums/mm184/tongue_dances/DMJ-2009-09-26-danjedAndRichard01.jpg http://i296.photobucket.com/albums/mm184/tongue_dances/DMJ-2009-09-26-danjedAndGavin02.jpg http://i296.photobucket.com/albums/mm184/tongue_dances/DMJ-2009-09-26-danjedAndJohn01.jpg

I snapped quick pictures of RB and JW, but they didn't come out well. I have a second chance to get their pictures tomorrow. I can't wait to see PT again in Philly! I purchased The Incident Art Print (lithograph) which is limited to 500 numbered copies Worldwide. http://www.burningshed.com/store/porcupine...oduct/324/1760/ It is really beautiful, I love artwork.

The book is currently under construction, but is likely to hit stores by January 2006. The book will come in a limited special leather edition that will feature autographs of all three band members with a slipcase. A standard version of the book will run for $100." Who's going to buy the standard version for $100, if that ends up happening?

Rolinda Bonz got most of them on an early go. A lot of credit has to go to other people. I know what its like to keep trying at this, only to fail when there's one to get. that is the way to win these things.. Wait for everyone else to get 9/10, then you just have to figure out the tough one.. It is that kind of competition though. If you have a go, and get quite a few right, you open up most of the answers to everyone else. It is an integral part of the game (when we tried the PM way it sucked, was boring) True. I didn't enjoy the PM version at all. I didn't like that PM version either because I ended up winning that contest. I had too much time on my hands. 1-0-0-1-0-0-1, GhostGirl, and the 2 other contestants in that final clip contest were really busy with more important things. I felt bad winning that contest because I had so much more free time than the other participants. I didn't like sending all of those PMs over to RushRevisited. I am sure that it was a big hassle getting a PM from me every 2 minutes.
  15. Congratulations, rickyrob. Thanks to everyone who played. I hope everybody had fun.
