  1. So i am attempting to cover Jacobs Ladder off of permanent waves but cannot nail the solo tone? Any tips as far as effects? Maybe a harmonizer I feel like the track is doubled so it is a hard tone to approximate?
  2. I wanted to see what guitar replacement pickups everybody thinks are good I have a few guitars I will list them and the pickups then let me know what would be good to replace them with 1. Custom VOS Les Paul Standard has a gibson Burstbucker 1 and 2 in it always seems kind of muddy. 2. Les Paul Axcess Custom Burstbucker 1 and 2 both seemed to sound extremly muddy in this guitar and provide little clarity 3. Gibson ES 355 has Gibson 57 in it I like them alot but any better ideas of pickups for a hollow body I use all these guitars to play Classic Rock ala Rush Led Zeppelin, and alot of Beatles. I also play newer country Keith Urban, Rascal Flatts, etc. ]Thanks Joe
  3. I need some help currently I play through a 1979 Marshall 4140 Combo Tube amp it is loaded with 2 speakers I am going to order and Orange Dual Terror and a cabinet for it however the cabinet is going to come in several days later would it be possible to plug the dual terror through the speakers in the marshall combo? thanks Joe
  4. Thanks for everybody's input I am going to go with the 2x12 it should do the job! Joe
  5. I play classic rock, rock country mainly!
  6. Hey everybody I am going to buy a orange dual terror very soon and I cannot decide whether to get a 2x12 cab or a 4x12 cab? I am going to order it from avatar? I feel like the 4x12 might provide better bottom end and maybe sound but it may be a bit over blown and hard to get to gigs? What does everybody think? Also I wanted vintage 30s in the cab I was thinking about hellatone 30s and maybe 60s? Does Anyone know the difference? Thanks Joe
  7. Sorry been ultra busy but I think I am going to go with an orange dual terror it is within my price range and will accent the amp I already have perfectly plus it is low wattage! Thanks for all the replies and help! Thanks Joe
  8. Hello everybody I need help chossing a new ampHello my name is Joseph Miller I play mostly living rooms and basements so I need an amp that is not very loud but sounds great I wouldn't mind looking at both single channel and multichannel amps! I play all different types of music but mainly classic rock and country, Rush, Keith Urban, Beatles, CCR, other types of newer country, ACDC, Led Zeppelin, etc! I would like to get a professional opinion and then come up in the next few weeks and try some of the amps out thanks! I also would like it to be a head speaker setup I am not looking for a combo-amp! Look forward to hearing from you all Joseph Miller
  9. LMFAO That was hillarious true I need to stop spending hours learning Rush and and just learn like 4 chords and a really well known song LOL. And I almost originally played bass
  10. I am thinking about getting a Hiwatt amp to play rush with however Hiwatt are notorius for being extremely loud so I will need some great distortion pedals to overdrive it with any suggestions? I already have these pedals Fulltone OCD 1979 MXR Dostortion Plus 1980 MXR Micro Amp Xotic Effects BB Preamp SO what other distortion pedals are awesome for Rush.
  11. Hey everybody I need some help deciding on what amp to get I will start by listing the gear I already use. Guitars 2005 Deluxe Stratocaster with David Gilmour EMG's 2005 Gibson 1960 VOS Les Paul Standard 2008 Gibson Inspired By Alex Lifeson 355 2008 Gibson Les Paul Axcess Custom Custom Built Moving Pictures White Stratocaster with Gibson 57 Plus in bridge Custom Built GUP Red Stratocaster with Bill Lawrence L 500L in Bridge 1980 Gibson Howard Roberts Fusion Effects: I use alot of analog effects Boss CE 1, Electric Mistress Flanger, MXR Distortion Plus and Micro Amp Etc. Amps: Right now I am using a 1980 Marshall Club and Country combo the same amp Alex used on Moving Pictures through Power Windows. So I have those sounds covered. What I am looking for is an amp to cover pre- moving pictures albums and post-Power windows albums. I have been looking at a voodoo amps 25 watt V plex head which is a copy of a 1968 Marshall Plexi but has a master volume. Cranked it sounds like ACDCs Back in Black album. However I also have looked at the Hughes and Kettner Alex Lifeson Signature Triamp and I really like it. It does cost alot more but it has six channels and I think it will be more versitile. So what should I do which amp is the one to get?
  12. It is debatable alot of people think it is the L-500 R which does work fine however in my copy of his Red Strat I used the the L-500 L it sounds the same as the R but it is a little hotter and has a little more push.
  13. Sounds good I own an LR Baggs Bridge myself and they sound extremely good for a piezo.
  14. I have watched that video several times before and never saw that nice eyes. I think that he probably was either using the 345 at that time to either to warm up on or he may have been thinking about using it for the tour but it never made it. Te black 345 was never used on this tour it was used during Permanent Waves as the backup for the white es-355 and shelved after that. It was bought to replace his sunburst es 345 he had during the hemispheres tour which he gave to a roadie for his birthday. I have some pictures of it I will try to post them.
  15. I built a copy of Alex's White Stratocaster. But I wanted it to be the Arctic White color from the moving pictures tour. The body was custom made by my guitar tech and the neck was aftermarket and has an ebony fretboard. It has a floyd rose with a locking nut and a gibson 57 classic in the bridge I have a pull pot on the volume knob to kick in the middle pick up. It sounds really good and it looks almost exactly like Alex's.
