  1. DONNIE DARKO. Seems like everyone I know loves that film, and I don't understand why. I tried to watch it and it put me to sleep. Twice! But I keep hearing about how great it is! Maybe I'm an idiot, or maybe I have some rare form of narcolepsy that is induced by cult moves. I just don't get it!
  2. Hey, congratulations, Lady A! Nice choice for your 2112th post. 4. Show us, show us! Before they make wine out of you.
  5. Ah, so when my best friend killed himself with pills in 1998, he didn't really mean to die and was just so incompetent that he failed at staying alive?
  6. QUOTE (mazyyz @ Aug 29 2007, 10:12 PM) QUOTE (GeddysMullet @ Aug 29 2007, 10:49 PM) QUOTE (mazyyz @ Aug 29 2007, 09:35 PM) QUOTE (GeddysMullet @ Aug 29 2007, 11:01 AM) QUOTE (mazyyz @ Aug 28 2007, 10:58 PM) The whole "slashing your wrists" and "taking pills" methods are ways where one is trying to get attention rather than truely killing themself. Because if someone really wanted to kill themself, they would pick a more definitive way to do it. Nothing like an expert opinion, is there? Well I'm not an expert, but I do have a Masters in Psychology and I was a counselor for troubled teens a few years back. So I know a little about what I'm saying. I agree that you know a LITTLE about what you are saying. But as someone who has no formal education in psychology but who does have a lot more real-life experience with suicide, and with people who are suicidal, than she wishes she did, I disagree with pretty much everything else you've said. ALL suicide attempts should be taken seriously. With your attitude, I hope...nay, I pray that you are no longer counseling troubled teens. My original quote had nothing to do with taking a suicide attempt serious or not serious. It had to do with distinctions between why some take a more definitive approach to suicide than others. I'm not saying Owen Wilson was just trying to get attention or it was just a cry for help. Maybe it was, maybe it wasn't. Only therapy can uncover that. But I am saying that usually people who do try those methods are trying to get attention or are crying for help, they don't want to end it all. That's positive because then it gives them a chance to live. It does not diminish the seriousness of what they did, but as a therapist or in crisis intervention you do have to ask, "Did this person REALLY want to kill themself?" "It does not diminish the seriousness of what they did, but as a therapist or in crisis intervention you do have to ask, "Did this person REALLY want to kill themself?"" Okay, I'll agree with this statement, but I still disagree with pretty much everything else you've said. Rather than saying I pray that you no longer counsel troubled teens, perhaps I should say that I hope you are able to express yourself with a lot more compassion and empathy in those situations than you have shown in this thread.

  9. Rush was in a bathtub with Dream Theater and Mike Portnoy farted. Geddy loudly exclaimed, "Wheres My Thing!?!". "It is in Alex's double neck Gibson, which is not the greatest place to find a gigantic wildebeast. Neil said fear the snow dogs or they will kill your family, then outa nowhere came Kurt Cobain shooting heroin in the face. "Ow!" Neil ran screaming, grabbed his drumsticks and his helmet, whipped out his giant spaghetti noodle, and sped out of the studio to go find Terry Brown's apartment. "Oh my gosh! I forgot my...motorcycle keys and my newest lyrics. Well no big deal, Courtney Love will remember them. At that moment, the phone rang "Hello Neil, you left your lyrics back in Toronto and your snowdog is here too. Come get them." Neil replied, "I don't have the soup or shrimp cot to get the lyrics. So mail them here along with my motorcycle keys and kitty litter bags. Meanwhile, Alex was checking his Gibson sandwiches, which tasted similar to broccoli, but still couldn't compare to the soup he had each day. Chicken has protein

  13. 1. I really like silly threads like this. 2. I spend too much time on the Internet when I should be working. 3. I got one useful thing done today.

  16. QUOTE (workingcinderellaman @ Aug 22 2007, 12:43 PM) QUOTE (iluvgeddy05 @ Aug 22 2007, 10:42 AM) 1. My legs hurt. 2. I'm not telling you why. 3. It's not what you think! I'm wondering why her legs hurt. There are many reasons, but only a few that she would not want to tell. This makes my mind wander to places I don't want to tell. 1. You don't have to tell, you did quite a good job of implying it. 2. I'm wondering too. 3. Lots of people have dirty minds.
  17. 1. The way out is the way in. 2. The truth is not the truth. 3. Those might or might not actually be facts.
  18. You know you're a Rush fan when you find yourself trying to substitute the word "hurry" (i.e., "There's no hurry," "I'm in a hurry," etc) to avoid having your friends take the piss.
  19. 1. I am ill. 2. I love Rush. 3. I believe I have finally found the "Random Thoughts"-type thread on this board.
  20. QUOTE (Paragon @ Aug 20 2007, 08:15 PM) QUOTE (GeddysMullet @ Aug 19 2007, 11:51 AM) You know you're a Rush fan when every time the announcer in the Toyota ad mentions that the car has power windows, you think how it would be nice if cars really did come with Rush albums. Mine did! The guy who was detailing it before they put it on the showroom floor inadvertently left his copy of "Roll the Bones" in the CD player. Imagine my joy the first time I took it out for a test drive...I turn on the stereo and "Bravado" floods the interior. We will pay the price, but we will not count the cost. I was so sold. New criterion: You know you're a Rush fan when the deciding factor in your purchase of an expensive car is the fact that it played the right music when you test drove it. That is awesome. You win!

I've really fallen for the guy, which is quite startling because for so many years Rush was a total joke to me. No one believes me when I say I don't fancy him sexually, though. Why is it so hard for people to imagine feeling a spiritual love for a beautiful soul that doesn't include wanting to get into his pants? Hey GM, jsut so you know I'm just kidding around when I say stuff about Geddy in that nature. To me it's all in fun on the board. I don't have any lack of respect for you or anyone else or even geddy at that. Just fun ma'am. My comments are in fun, too. I tend to mock things that mean a lot to me. Maybe that's a bad habit, I don't know, but I've always done it. But anyway, I love your posts. They make me smile. May I give you a virtual hug? http://i182.photobucket.com/albums/x285/geddysmullet/hugsy.gif Or would you prefer a gratuitous bum shot? http://i182.photobucket.com/albums/x285/geddysmullet/PDVD_011.jpg Rock on, sister.
