  3. QUOTE (GeminiRising79 @ Apr 2 2008, 09:28 PM) Its funny you bring up Alex here, because I just remembered something about him that I thought was very peculiar. Back in '81, I went to the Capital Centre in Largo, MD to see the Moving Pictures tour with a bunch of friends. We saw the first show (of two) and then showed up the next morning to see if we could get lucky and see/meet any members of Rush. Well, lo and behold, here comes Alex with his RC airplane, walking toward the larger part of the parking lot. I, as well as my friends were in shock because we really didn't think we would get much of a glimpse of any of them. So Alex goes about flying his airplane around and pretty quickly it ends up in a tree (a mighty oak?). Some fan decided to go climb the tree to retrieve it. While he was doing so, Alex was talking to his friend and watching the guy climb the big tree. I, like any other infatuated teenage fan would do, just stared in awe of Alex. I had never ever been this close to a real rock star. I had only seen Alex, prior, on the albums and magazines, so I was completely awestruck--I'm sure many of you may relate to this. I really couldn't believe I was actually standing 5 feet from him. I wanted to observe every thing about him, since I was so impressed by him. One of my friends was standing with me during this time--A really good looking kid who was an amazing guitar player. I noticed that Alex kept staring at him in the face. It was no coincidence because I was observing everything Alex was doing. It was pretty bizarre seeing Alex staring at my friend like he was. He couldn't keep his eyes off him. It then occurred to me that Alex might be bisexual (especially since I was pretty confused the first time I saw him looking like tinkerbell in one of the Rush album covers that I owned...I had thought at the time:"My God, not Alex!"). So there you go, maybe he has tendencies, who knows, but it was kind of creepy seeing Alex check my friend out in this fashion. Sounds like you were jealous... It still bothers you today...

  5. QUOTE (iluvgeddy05 @ Mar 10 2008, 09:24 AM) I'll be mad if I get an interview for the job I applied last next week. It's a horrible career opportunity and I'm not ready for a change. Oh and the significant salary raise totally sucks. You have no chance of getting that interview. Plus, you don't deserve it. Too much money is bad. Staying put in a job you don't like is the way to go..... (Good luck - really...)

  10. QUOTE (Ancient Ways @ Feb 27 2008, 07:20 PM) QUOTE (rushbass @ Feb 27 2008, 08:39 PM) QUOTE (Ancient Ways @ Feb 27 2008, 06:35 PM) QUOTE (rushbass @ Feb 27 2008, 08:30 PM) I'd actually have to walk into a movie to be able to walk out of one... Hollywood has nothing worth me paying whatever it cost now to go to the movies... BTW, I haven't been to a movie theater since 1999... do you rent movies or watch them on tv? Don't rent movies... I have seen a few movies on television that have come out after 1999, but again, I don't rush out to catch a new movie when it is released. With all the remakes, lack of originality / fresh ideas, I just don't care to see what is being offered up. The wife and I used to go to the show once every week or two but have not been able to get out very often (once/twice a year if we are lucky) since the birth of our first in 2000. We catch most of what we see on movie channels. I do see every kid's movie released at least once. Same here... I remember the days when it was rare to have missed even one of the movies nominated for best picture. Nowadays, if it's animated or involves animals, I'm there!!!

  13. QUOTE (Ancient Ways @ Feb 19 2008, 06:39 PM) QUOTE (LerxstFerret @ Feb 19 2008, 09:33 PM) Not to mention he's the only member of the band that has released extremely personal books this is the irony. we have more of an insight into what makes him tick than Al or Ged but we blast him because he won't pretend to be happy to shake our hand and say hello. it's back asswards. Hadn't thought of that before...very good insight. Kinda makes this whole thread moot. Maybe time to open a thread about how Geddy and Alex don't open up about their lives...
  14. QUOTE (Lerxster @ Feb 18 2008, 09:50 AM) Living on a lighted stage Approaches the unreal For those who think and feel In touch with some reality Beyond the gilded cage. Cast in this unlikely role, Ill-equipped to act, With insufficient tact, One must put up barriers To keep oneself intact. Living in the Limelight, The universal dream For those who wish to seem. Those who wish to be Must put aside the alienation, Get on with the fascination, The real relation, The underlying theme. Living in a fisheye lens, Caught in the camera eye. I have no heart to lie, I can't pretend a stranger Is a long-awaited friend. All the world's indeed a stage, And we are merely players, Performers and portrayers, Each another's audience Outside the gilded cage. That's awesome... You should put some music around that and I think you'd have a hit on your hands!!! Let me know if you need some help. I have a couple of ideas in my head already...
