  1. Marathon I'm suprised by the pretty even distribution of votes here. Several songs getting double digit percentages. This song has it all: Great lyrics, heavy guitar, awesome solo, killer bass, and even a choir at the end. What more could you want? Chris
  2. Turn the Page It took seeing this song on A Show of Hands for me to realize just how badass it is. The bass line alone is worth the price of admission. It is very well constructed, even if the first transition from verse to chorus is a little awkward, when they come back to the chorus the second time, it flows right in to it. the guitar solo is really good, too, but it is better live. Chris
  3. Available Light Despite Presto's relativly poor standing amongst Rush fans, I think there are several really good songs, the best of which is Available Light. The song has somber verses, pensive pre-choruses, and soaring choruses that are at the same time truimphant and distressed. Add to that Lifeson's solo that sounds like it is so embedded in the early 1980's, and its a song that literally takes you back in time. "A play of light A photograph the way I sued to be Some half forgotten stranger Doesn't mean that much to me." IF you've ever looked at an old picture of yourself and felt that way, this song nails it! Chris
  4. Bravado This was a close call, almost tie with Dreamline, but I love the laid back, melancholy feel. The guitar line is simply gorgeous, and the minal bass underneath highligths and pushes the overall mood of the song nicely. Chris
  5. Animate This song ranks up there in the Rush Cannon. Definitely a top ten for me. This is the first song to feature Geddy's flamenco strumming technique. the bass is all ove rthe place, dominating from start to finnish, but there's still plenty of room for Alex to pay his very fitting, tasteful part. this song has a gritty, ballsy quality that is only topped by Tom Sawyer for attitude. Chris
  6. Time and Motion As a Rush fan, I have yearned for a return to the Hemispheres era sound and song structure. From the second this song started, I felt I had gotten a little bit of that, but in a bg way! I'm suprised more people don't like this song. Chris
  7. Earthshine Definitely my favorite from VT, and I think the rest of the album is very strong, despites the sound issues. the songs a really good, and I think the fact they continue to play a few songs on this tour (S&A) onyl shows that they believe in the material as well. I only wished they played this on the current tour. Chris
  8. I guess I'm in the minority here, but I really like their version of Mr. Soul, I like the groove that it has. Chris
  9. This is a movie that I grew up on. When I was about 13, around 1982, I was given a VHS tape with Meatballs and Caddychack on it. Of course Caddyshack became one of my favorites of all time, but Meatballs was way up there, too. I have quote almost as many lines from Meatballs as from Caddyshack, and, looking back, it probably subliminally inspired me to become a camp counselor for 3 summers while I was in college, the third year being at a sleepaway camp in Pennsylvania. Also, this movie, in no small way, help me in meeting my wife. She had put up a perosnal on the net, in which she said she was looking for a professional with a Bill Murray sense of humor. When I wrote back, I was able to reference Meatballs and Caddyshack. She later told me that she recieved hundreds of replies to her personal, but that I was the only person to mention Bill Murray, and so she replied to me. So I say Cheers to a great movie!!! Chris
