    That's crazy 14.

I didn't know that we had this in common.

My LA Forum show was the 60th for me as well.

    RUSH ON!

Wow! When was your first show? By the way here is the pic again. Looks like the link is broken

  2. So was KK not happy in Judas Priest for awhile? I thought he quit for health reasons, that he couldn’t hack touring anymore, or was having some other kind of personal problems.

In 2011 he said there many reasons why he left and hinted at problems with the rest of the band. A couple of years ago, after the announcement of Glenn Tipton's medical condition and retirement from touring, plus KK's book, on the eve of the Firepower tour, they got into a full scale slagging match with KK saying stuff like Tipton got to play most of the solos, and criticised the performances, and he suggested that Tipton didn't play on Firepower. I don't think Downing has been invited to play on Priest's 50th anniversary tour either so they don't seem on good terms at all.

I'm torn about this. Unfortunately KK torched the bridge with his former bandmates

  3. not a classic by any stretch but definitely a solid entry.

I skipped it due to the shittiness of the previous two, especially that last one. Dreadful.

May have to have another Terminator go with this one

it's a worth a watch if you keep your expectations in check.

It's kind of a reboot like Force Awakens.

  4. Finished the third episode before work this morning. This show is absolutely killing it. I'm still surprised to see a number of haters online complaining about the show for reasons that seem absolutely antithetical to the actual product hitting the screen. Speaking as someone who was a fairly ardent critic of Discovery, I'm left wondering if the hatred that show generated has seeped too far into the identity of those making inane complaints about Picard.

"I think, when one has been angry for a very long time, one gets used to it. And it becomes comfortable like… like old leather. And finally… it becomes so familiar that one can't remember feeling any other way."

Star Trek has rediscovered it's identity as a thoughtful, morally nuanced, character driven drama with Picard. It's shown us the progression of the Trek universe in a splendidly canon-consistent manner, for better and worse. It's brilliantly paced, and has used high energy action sequences very sparingly- allowing dialogue and plot to carry the story on its own merits. It's developing interesting and likeable characters, leaving me genuinely caring about what happens to them.

I couldn't be happier with this product. Huge credit to Michael Chabon for breathing life back into Star Trek.

I'm enjoying both Picard and Discovery, much to my wife's dismay.

    lol

I watched it with the Lad a while back. He LOVED the ice cave robot scene!

Haha, that scene is hilarious, but I love it too. Logan was a big hero for me when I was nine or ten. Maybe that's why I revisit this film every once in a while. Nowadays I love the film for the psychedelic sounds and the antic structures. CULT!

    Next up Barbarella :whipgirl:

This was a double feature with Soylent Green when i was a kid

  6. I've heard a number of complaints that Picard suffers from slow pacing... I couldn't disagree more. The deliberate pacing reminds me of a show like Better Call Saul, where the story has room to breathe and offer the attention to detail that Discovery so badly lacked as it haphazardly skipped across the touchpoints it needed to hit to stretch the plot.

No, it seems that Picard is paced perfectly. And Patrick Stewart is absolutely CRUSHING IT as an actor.

I think im gonna cancel Disney and sign up for CBS all access

Me too - no new Mando until next year so...

yep. plus Ive never seen any Star Trek Discovery

  8. The first episode gets an 8.5/10 from me.

I love the deliberate pacing. I love that there is actually a message and heart to the story. I love the feel that Patrick Stewart has brought back to Jean Luc. The small glimpses of 24th (25th?) century aesthetic we saw were visually on point.

There was a little bit of ham fisted exposition to get the story set up, and that compounded the discomfort of the interview scene. I felt like that part could've been handled better. It's a lot of background to establish, and I wish they could've established it more clearly and gracefully.

But outside of that misstep, I loved it. I can't wait for more.

This reviewer was not so kind

Can Star Trek: Picard recover from its bafflingly bad premiere?

  9. With the show launching in about 12 hours, I'm getting very excited. I'll be staying up tonight to watch the moment it goes live.

Season two has already been ordered, and will be including Whoopi Goldberg, presumably reprising her role as Guinan. It's also been hinted that season two could involve Worf or other TNG castmembers. Also encouraging is that season two's showrunner is a throwback to the 'Berman era' (90s) of Star Trek, who wrote and worked on some terrific episodes of Voyager and Enterprise.

Despite the doubts, I'm feeling confident that this is going to be the show that sets up Star Trek's return to glory.

are they releasing the whole season or is it a one episode a week thing?
