  1. My current random music thought (while listening to DT's Awake), I would probably still be a fan of the band if Kevin Moore never left. He doesn't spooge the keys like Rudess.
  2. QUOTE (The Owl @ Aug 28 2008, 10:39 AM) QUOTE (Shifty @ Aug 28 2008, 12:16 AM) I just got a hold of the Live in Studio XM Radio Broadcast from Nov 2002. I got the version with the 3 extra acoustic songs plus the interview with Steven Wilson. Superb of course. I'm sure a lot of you guys here would already have this. What do you all think of it?? I'll have to try and find this. Are there any hard copies available, or will I have to look on torrent sites? Torrents should only be a last resort for items no longer available. I recommend downloading the flac files and burning them to CD. Then I convert them to high bitrate MP3 for the iPod as well. http://www.burningshed.com/store/porcupine.../collection/94/
  3. For you drummers who didn't know, Gavin Harrison will respond to questions you ask. Pages of very cool reads in the forum. http://www.drummerworld.com/forums/archive....php/t-698.html

The XM recording is excellent. Amazing how much they sound like the album. Gavin Harrison's drumming on Tinto Brass really makes the original drummer, Chris Maitland (who is no slouch), seems unadventurous.

QUOTE (Show Don't Tell @ Aug 15 2008, 11:51 AM) Gompers' sig: Rush VT slogan: "Individually We Are A Ass But Together We Are A Genius " That was actually from T4E was it not? Hmmm...it was right after Victor. You may be right! edit: Yes you are. http://www.2112.net/powerwindows/T4Etourbook.htm "individually, we are a ass; but together, we are a genius"

  20. QUOTE (PhilCastro @ Aug 14 2008, 11:31 AM) well. i listened to it like 4 times last night it kicked total ass!!!! I havent enjoyed an album that much in a long while. it felt great. Then I think you'd like the post SFAM stuff. I prefer I&A through FII. Although Octavarium has some decent moments.
  21. QUOTE (the masked drummer @ Aug 14 2008, 10:50 AM)QUOTE (PhilCastro @ Aug 13 2008, 06:56 PM) I just bought my first Dream Theater album today: "Scenes from a Memory" I cant wait to pop it in Tell us what you think! C'mon now... Yes. Is it over the top cliche Prog of rehashed ideas? Or is it the best thing that has ever happened to music? (Actually I really like Home quite a bit. But I think it's because it reminds me of Tool and Zep. )
  22. QUOTE (ArrowSnake @ Aug 14 2008, 07:19 AM) I'm finally discovering Porcupine Tree! I went to the store today and got Deadwing. I'm absolutely loving it! I'm kicking myself for not getting to know them sooner. What a great band! Are all their albums as good as Deadwing? For me In Absentia is the best to date. However, I enjoy everything from Signify to FOABP. This is a band that creates music that grows on you over time (kind of like some Rush songs, as I recall). edit: typo
  23. QUOTE (Karena @ Aug 11 2008, 02:44 PM) This is a great song all around. I just love that Rush can do beautiful and uplifting songs surrounding non-belief, be it a diety or organized religion, or both. It is Neil's personal feelings and for those of us who share them it is a welcome positive validation, which is rare. It has special meaning to me, makes me feel all warm and fuzzy about being an infidel . Yet it does not cross the line to offend those with different beliefs. Lyrics and music are excellent.
