I got to say Rock in a Hard Place and Done with Mirrors are pretty good albums, better than everything that came after. I should have voted to eliminate Permanent Vacation sooner. And I think I like both albums better than the debut.

I never got Draw the Line. Great song but the rest of the album, no.
Draw the Line and the debut are the weakest 1970s albums, by far.
-
No matter which albums "wins" I think this ranking is pretty spot on.

I voted for my favorite. Strange Days, baby.

Pump is poop.

The Doors - Morrison Hotel [7/10]
The Doors - L.A. Woman [8/10]

I really like L.A. Woman. The fact that it is the Doors' most blues based album is why it's so consistently good to my ears. It rocks and it's atmospheric. Excellent album. My favorite Doors album is probably Strange Days, but the debut is probably their best despite its 45 minute run time wearing out its welcome.

"Too commercial." Translation: "Real fans," don't like it because it doesn't allow them to show people that they're really into the band and know the more obscure stuff.
It's on their greatest hits albums, all 50 of them, because it resonated with people. And since it's well known it is, by definition, "iconic."
The good ol' it's too commercial critique. "Love Her Madly" is a wonderful song.

If The Shit Parade gets voted out the cream of the crop remains. Now we're talking...

Mitski - Be the Cowboy [9/10]
Idles - Crawler [8/10]
Rod Stewart - Every Picture Tells a Story [10/10]
Monsters of Folk - Monsters of Folk [7/10]

It's a ditty. I would rank it in my Rush Top 30.

Now, now, don't be so hard on McCartney. :PAs a complete album, I'll take Soft Parade over any Beatles record save the White Album, and I like that it stands out as very different musically from the other Doors records. That said, I know it's devisive and I'm pretty sure it'll be the next to go.
American Prayer is interesting, but not really a true Doors album. Bye, bye.
The Soft Parade makes me want to rip my ear off. Nothing is as bad as pretentious, poorly arranged lounge music.
Did I mention McCartney? I don't think so.

Monsters of Folk - "Magic Marker"

I like that you acknowledged the bottom of the barrel. How they continued without Morrison is a head scratcher. Contractual obligations?

Big Thief - Dragon New Warm Mountain I Believe in You [9/10]
This group of songs will one day be considered one of the greatest double albums of all-time. Adrianne Lenker is a brilliant songwriter.
