In about a month, we should know if GUP is happening based on the Signals announcement.
Not going to lie. I'm more excited to find out when the new Envy Of None album is being released. I already know what Grace Under Pressure sounds like.

Wait longer and check back when people have been sitting on them and get sick of it. Prices will drop. One sold for under $80 yesterday.
Figured they would drop already. Signed copies seem to be everywhere. I'll check again in a few months.

Unless something surfaces to say otherwise it doesn't seem like they played it based on what we know now.

Finally got as far as the Japanese Tour. Fills in a few more details than what was previously known.

I've been listening to these interviews just about every night since this thread started. Really enjoying the retrospective!
I'll throw one on the CD player or turntable once in a while and reflect.. Nice to have them online at the touch of a button though.

Alex just did a radio interview today with Eddie Trunk on SiriusXM and definitely didn’t sound like any kind of “Rush 2.0” is happening. Didn’t rule out writing new music with Geddy at some point and said he wants to do that when Geddy gets done with the book promo stuff, but Alex was adamant that he has absolutely zero interest in touring again and doesn’t know if he can still play Rush stuff as well as he did on R40 because of the arthritis.
So there’s that.
I'm shocked! Just shocked!

I i like it a lot. I don't think it comes close to any of his first 4. BUT it is his best in a LONG time.
it was just nice hearing his voice too. He's in remarkably good shape vocally on this album for his age.
Also maybe it's me but i can't tell much difference in the 2 mixes, lol
Solid album though.
Mick
I think it's just as good as anything he's ever done. Might be his best yet. Having those different mixes is like a bonus. Totally changes the character of the music. The man knows what he's doing.

My thoughts on this...as mentioned already...is that they will not continue as Rush, it will be something like the Lee/Lifeson band. Maybe a few festival slots to see if Alex can do it. If not I believe Geddy will go solo and maybe Alex will come out and play a few songs. Geddy's already gone solo before so this is not new territory and there is already precedence.
Bottom line, this is happening -- is some iteration -- but one (or both of them) will be recording a new album and playing out in some manner in the next year or so. As someone that's getting older and occasionally plays in a band, when the call comes it's very hard to say no because there's always the 'what if' (as the old adage goes; it's the things in life you DON'T do that you regret, not the things you DO).
Just my intuition/thoughts.
Sounds like that's exactly why they are doing other things.

I can think of a couple of options—keep an eye on places like ebay, and for listings that give the option make an offer and maybe someone who is sick of sitting on it will take what you offer.
I've checked a few times and the prices are insane. I'm not going to go crazy looking for a signed copy. Going to save the money for the audio book when that price comes down. What I REALLY want is the 1200 page manuscript which is between highly unlikely and impossible.

One of my favourite albums of 2023. An absolutely superb listen.
I had heard a lot of the tracks as they were drip-fed throughout the year but the final album release still had a big impact on me.
One thing though ........ I can't decide whether I prefer the Bright-side mix or the Dark-side mix.
I think I like the bright side mix more. I really can't believe how good this album is. I really wish the lyrics were included in the CD package. I know they're on his website, but that doesn't really improve my listening experience much.

Can't believe there's no thread for this album. It's f***ing KILLER. Best album he's put out in decades. Anyone else into it?
I can believe it.

Five post Moving Pictures songs. Can't believe I forgot about Losing It. Same preshow music from Geddy's tour was used too. Including Geddy's two new songs after the show.

Definitely a mixed bag. Musical special guests made the show and of course the Rush crew ran the show which was awesome.
Four post Moving Pictures tunes too (Although only 2 each from Signals and Grace Under Pressure) so a definite improvement on that front.

Have to figure there's a ton of Rush lyric videos on you tube.
Of course, all Rush studio albums have lyrics with the liner notes.

Giving it a listen right now...the 1982 retrospective linked below, to be specific. The site's list of RUSH programs is impressive!
I think this was the first radio interview I ever bought in the '80s. Never knew they existed until I found this one at Pier Platters in Hoboken. That was the first step down the Rush interview rabbit hole. They're great to pull out when I'm feeling a bit nostalgic.
I'm going to check these out.

Geddy did write 1,200 pages so we didn't get everything in the book because editors pared it down. Perhaps he will share more of it at a later time. I am happy he has done what he has.
That's the version that I want to read.
