Fish -- The Last Straw (Live)

Still regret blowing the chance to see the them over the last 15 years or so. Gateway of course was Phil but I found out it was so much more than that. Fortunately they left some live material.

He did that a few times for his bass book but I think they were mostly in Canada.

In The End and Beneath, Between And Behind  are my two favorite tracks from Fly By Night. And of course like nearly all Rush songs, much better live.

I don't know about the rest of you.... but i don't f***ing care what tours or shows those are. Mix and master them, and publish them.  I have dollars at this time in life and plenty of f***ing time to listen.

About a year ago I spent 75 bucks on the Asia official bootlegs Volume 1.  It's 6 shows of Wetton, Howe, Downes, and Palmer from the 80's and afer their reunion in the early 2000s.  5 are SBD, 1 is AUD (A+).  I have them in rotation.  Great shows.

If those Rush tapes Lerxst talked about exist, I see no f***ing reason why they can't just put them out. Just like Asia did.

FFS.  Do it before the fanbase gets too old to give a shit. 

I have something similar called Quadra which is a live Asia box with the Pittsburgh '82 show, Worecester '83 and Frankfurt Germany in '90 (with Pat  Thrall on guitar) The first two are audience recordings.  Essentially bootlegs. While I would Rush doing something like this eventually (they won't) I don't think they should be paired with something as nicely designed with "added value" as this box.

With this packaging, I will also pass. I would only be interested in a CD edition that would have a concert with it.

 

This makes me wonder if I have purchased my last Rush re-issue. I will be curious as to how many of these sell.

I'm more curious to find out how many each of the these Super Deluxe Editions have been made.

CD's are much cheaper to make than vinyl. Clearly we're being steered to the Super Deluxe Edition (or nothing at all. Seems like that's my choice.)

How can there not be a stand alone CD for this????  I get that this is basically the Hugh Syme show and he's the only one left tied to the history of the band but there is nothing musically interesting for me here besides the 2015 Magee master and the Atmos mix.

Recording Artists Against Drunk Driving Commercial? I've never seen it, but it sounds like that's what you're describing. I have a small PSA poster of Rush "Take The Lead. Designate" with the three individual pictures of Geddy, Alex and Neil playing live.

There were reasons for each.

Exit...Stage Left (live album intended to be released before Moving Pictures)

A Show Of Hands (Record deal ending with that album)

Different Stages (Band on hiatus)

So in June 1980, about 10 shows were recorded. Who knows if all these tapes still exist, we know some do:

 

of course the Permanent Waves 40th live tracks include Manchester (Jun 17/18) and London (Jun 4-8) + one song from St Louis Kiel Auditorium (Feb 11-13).

 

(2112 Deluxe Edition also came with A Passage To Bangkok (Manchester Apollo, Manchester, England - June 17, 1980) + it's duplicated on PW 40th)

 

So with PW 40th anniv + the St. Louis Kiel Auditorium bootleg + side2 of ESL, yes I think we're getting a fair representation of what this live album may have sounded like.

That was initially very confusing but there must of been a hassle with the rights or something. Dave made it work I guess in a Zappaese beat the boots kind of way.

Wonder how many new Rush fans went nuts trying to find it.

Yeah, Not a lot of his music ever made it down here in the US. Only reason I even became aware was that Rush would always mention him in the early years. Mostly was aware of his music although I was never able to find it. Seems like something I would have enjoyed. Can't imagine it's any easier to find. I wonder if there's any art to check out.
