  1. QUOTE (tick @ Aug 13 2007, 07:08 AM) I would suggest HBO, which has a billion channels already, start the logical next channel for there network, "HBO original". That sounds like a good idea.
  2. Why they feel the need to even enter a thread titled "Official Dream Theater Thread" is beyond me. If I see a thread about a band I'm not big on I either a) pass by it or b ) read it and figure maybe I should give that band another try. Please all you DT bashers. LAY OFF!!! Actually, that goes for anyone who feels the need to spout off rude comments to anyone's personal opinions and preferences. I'm glad you like DT, RR http://i21.photobucket.com/albums/b267/Tammeh69/MikePortnoy.jpg The same thing happens over on a DCX board I spend time on. It'a a constant battle over the Chicks and politics, which can be fun! BUT I often wonder why the hell someone would spend so much time on there if you hate them? Say your piece and leave, they don't what trolls.. btw I'm not a DT fan really but respect the ones who are...
  3. QUOTE (goose @ Aug 12 2007, 11:24 PM) QUOTE (GeddyRulz @ Aug 12 2007, 11:30 AM) I've always been a sitcom guy. My favorites: Soap Cheers Seinfeld To a lesser extent: King of Queens How I Met Your Mother ... and when I was a kid, my favorite show was "Shazam!" on Saturday mornings. Let's see if I can do this from memory... "Oh elders great (?) and strong & wise, appear vefore my seeking eyes" Didn't Billy have to say something like that? (It was Billy Batson, wasn't it?) And didn't they drive around in a Winnabago RV?
  4. Just curious what venue was it in Cleveland? My wife had to calm me down at R30 tour Blossom, Scene magazine had a booth there they use to be big RUSH supporters but in recent years have done nothing but taken cheap shots at them(the usual ignorant Geddy's voice slams) I let it be known to everyone who stepped up to booth that Scene has done nothing but slander RUSH and they don't belong here! Then i started yelling Scene Sucks!!! But my wife finally made me realize these teens didn't have anything to do with it, The asshole writers are the ones, these kids were just there doing promo and signing people up for subscriptions. Felt bad for making them my target, but I did at least turned a few RUSH fans away once i talked to them from signing up. Long winded off the subject story, but the point is hope Mike dosen't judge all the members of TRF as DT hate mongers perhaps it was CP site.
  5. QUOTE (Snowdog @ Aug 12 2007, 02:27 PM) QUOTE (lerxt1990 @ Aug 12 2007, 02:50 PM) QUOTE (tick @ Aug 12 2007, 01:48 PM) Everytime i turn to HBO, all there ever showing is there own original programing. I have no problem with there shows, there good but geez, i want to watch a movie once in awhile. I suggest HBO start an original programing channel for the folks who love them, and give there subscribers some actual movies which is what i believe im paying for. Thanks for listening, you may now dissagree with me. I have FIOS (like digital cable) and there are 13 HBO chennels (incl mutliple time zones of same channel) - I think if you only have regular HBO, thats why youre suffering. They should change that for more variety on flagship station. Ditto. I have 8 HBO's and there is always a few movies on somewhere. My gripe is the movies they do show. IMO, they're original programming is much better than most of the movies they show. Exactly, I have digital and HBO package. The problem with ALL these premium movie channels is repetitive showings of the same damn movies(American Psycho currently being played nonstop on HBO 1,2,3,5... etc) I welcome original programming the main reason why I have HBO not the movies. I would suggest Starz or possibly TMC for strictly movies.

Forgot King Of the Hill reruns still make me laugh. And Twilight zone when I get a chance to catch it on Sci Fi.(someday will see a episode haven't seen before)

  10. QUOTE (Ancient Ways @ Aug 9 2007, 10:47 PM) Fly By Night I often said it looks like it was done in a junior high art class. (But don't think it's a great album, good but not great.)
  11. QUOTE (anagramking @ Aug 10 2007, 07:24 PM) My wife absolutely loves this show. My wife absolutely hates it..
  12. Richard Lewis his miserable self "Is that the porn baby?" Larry trips Shaq at Laker game one of my favoritie episodes.. (Hell enjoy them all, own all of them on dvd) CAN'T WAIT FOR NEW SEASON...
  13. QUOTE (lerxt1990 @ Aug 8 2007, 08:51 AM) I miss The Sopranos. So do i, hope they make a Sopranos movie.
  14. I tried to watch it but just didn't think it was that funny. To much like a rip on Tenacious D. : What happened to that HBO series Lucky Louie? Thought that was good, sort of a modern day"All inThe Family" (Could use better writing leaning to much on shock and blue humour)
  15. Also a coworker at the steel mill on secound shift with me is a LOTR enthusiast and loved all the movies, He also so happens to be a Vietnam vet BIG guy I wouldn't want to rip on him for liking these "children" stories!
  16. QUOTE (Mustard Death @ Aug 5 2007, 03:16 PM) QUOTE (softfilter @ Aug 5 2007, 03:53 PM) I don't think LOTR is strictly for children Exactly. From the way he talks, I would think he's forgetting that LOTR were books first, and that he probably hasn't read them. Now I know compared to some literature, LOTR's nothing... but damn, it's not exactly a children's story. Can you imagine being 12 and trying to read that shit? And let's not forget the influence of LOTR had on the music of Led Zepp. Not to long ago The Children Of Hurin was a Book of the month club selection by Christopher Tolkien finished his dad's work. And I can't comprehend anyone thinking this is kiddie material. Besides, everyone seems to be nuts for Harry Potter young and old alike (personally never read the books but seen the first movie)
  17. I have a old first edition Star Wars comic book wonder if it's worth anything? Rush fans are on a whole to outsiders considered "geeks and nerds" Lord of the Rings was a major influence to Neil "Rivendell" and those early concept pieces. I don't think LOTR is strictly for children it has layered meaning that appeals to kids and adults alike. Simular as C.S. Lewis Chronicles Of Narnia, Yes Lewis made them as childrens stories but there overtones of Christianity can be understood by the older generation that Lewis gave deeper thoughts and message to this fable then the tale on the surface. On the topic, don't know much about Kevin Smith's work except Silent Bob watched some of Clerks(seemed funny) and Dogma? weird and interesting liked it!
  18. Goodfellas Slingblade Glory Saving Private Ryan Godfather
  19. Nice light hearted summer watch, seen it on pay per view couple of days ago.
  20. I'm to damned tired leaving work, sprint? stumble and crawl more like it. Funny that's the way i go in also! Neil does explain why he does this in RoadShow (to beat traffic, relax etc.) But i still think he also wants to avoid contact with fans and people in general. HEY THERES NEIL!!!
  21. Btw, I'm curious about the "original" British version and probably check it out on BBC America.
  22. QUOTE (Fridge @ Jul 14 2007, 12:24 PM) QUOTE (Necromancer @ Jul 14 2007, 03:26 PM) It's a sour grapes kind of thing. We can easily enjoy stuff like Monty Python or Benny Hill, but the Brits and such just can't accept that the "colonies" have funny f*ckers too. Why do Americans always assume that every Brit laughs uproariously at Monty Python? They did their fair share of guff and most of it was about thirty years ago. Some sketches are horribly dated, though to be fair, when they were good they were very good. Benny Hill? WTF, talk about out of date! It's hardly representative of British humour nowadays. FYI, America has produced some fine comics, from The Marx brothers to Bill Hicks (RIP to one of the funniest men I ever heard). You've turned this into a much broader discussion than it was intended to be. I was not slating American comedy in general, but merely saying I think the original version of The Office is much better.... Thats all folks. I use to like a british comedy called "The Goodies" sort of Benny Hill like but funnier. Being a Welsh American cracked up episode they went to Wales for holiday (The Welsh are kind and caring folks, let's go there!) but they had a closed sign on border and tossed them back over to England.
  23. The thing about The Office is you find yourself actually caring about the characters because there so believable (I work with a Dwight Schrute) Get the dvd collections or check out youtube for deleated scenes there hilarious and there's tons of them,I guess for a half hour show they can't cram everything in.
  24. QUOTE (ReRushed @ Jul 14 2007, 09:02 AM) QUOTE (Fridge @ Jul 14 2007, 09:41 AM) QUOTE (Necromancer @ Jul 14 2007, 02:02 PM) QUOTE (Milton Bridge @ Jul 11 2007, 04:54 PM) Get the BBC original on DVD it is far superior to the American version Put the pipe down and step away from the crack. I've seen the originals, and yes... they are good. But SUPERIOR to the American version??? Get real. The cast for the American show is just outrageously funny. And besides... the show is set in my hometown, Scranton Pa. Sorry... The original British version pisses all over the American one from a great height. Wow! People from the United Kingdom prefer the British version and people from the United States prefer the American version! Go figure! It's comedy! I don't "get" the Three Stooges but love the Marx Brothers. I never thought Martin and Lewis were funny but Abbott and Costello cracks me up. You may prefer the British version but it doesn't "piss" all over the American version. It's just a different take on a situation. I don't live in the United Kingdom, so there are things I won't "get" in the British version. With the American version I usually laugh throughout the entire half hour. It's all relative. I love Fawlty Towers and i knew they made a"US" version of the show which I never watched, John Laraquette stared in it? (pardon my spelling) Also wasen't Threes Company based on a British sitcom? I imagine these two shows the British version probably was better, like i said John Clesse in Fawlty Towers no one could top that. But our Office like Necromancer said great cast make believeable chracters and it's ALWAYS funny! I'm happy with it and really wouldn't care if British version is supposably better. American audience can relate to them vica versa for UK show fans.
  25. If the temp Ryan has indeed got the job there all f*cked! My wife is excited because at the end Jim asked Pam out and she said "yes".. It's my current favorite show on primetime have all the episodes on dvd. (hope this last season comes out soon)
